Title of the Paper: Application of Forensic Techniques to Identify Victims in Murder Cases

    Get PDF
Forensic science plays a vital role in the criminal justice system by providing fact-based information through the examination of physical evidence. The application of scientific techniques establishes a link between the Victim and the offender. It always leads to a major finding against the offender. Current developments in forensic science disciplines are useful in criminal investigations, particularly to identify the corpses of the victims of gruesome and terrible murders. The victims can be identified using a variety of forensic science disciplines such as Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Odontology, DNA Profiling, Photo superimposition, etc. Forensic anthropology mainly deals with the study of skeletal remains. Various cases have already been proved with the help of Forensic Anthropology for eg, the Sheena Bora murder case, the Tandoor murder case, etc. DNA profiling can be used to identify victims based on their distinctive genetic makeup. To identify the remains of a victim, DNA from remains found at the disaster or accident site must be matched to DNA known to be from the victim or the victim’s relatives. Forensic odontology deals with the proper handling and examination of dental evidence and with the proper evaluation and presentation of dental findings. It also contributes to the detection of crime and bringing those responsible to justice. The skull photo superimposition method reconstructs the photo of an individual giving a clear picture of the face and facial features using an unknown skull

Response of round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) to food odours

The well-established, invasive round goby (\u27Neogobius melanostomus\u27) is known to negatively impact native fish populations in the Great Lakes. My research examined whether food-based traps could capture round gobies which use chemical stimuli to find food and mates. My first experiment examined the response of round gobies in the laboratory and field to traps baited with lake whitefish, dreissenids, rainbow trout eggs and a control. Results showed that lake whitefish and dreissenids were preferred over other treatments in the field. Digestive tract analysis of captured gobies revealed that dreissenids were the dominant prey type. Subsequently, a laboratory experiment showed that round goby swam faster and spent more time near the odour source when exposed to soaked lake whitefish compared to other treatments, suggesting that lake whitefish could be used to capture non-reproductive fish. However, further studies are required to create a food baited trap to control the round goby

Change in the room temperature magnetic property of ZnO upon Mn doping

We present in this paper the changes in the room temperature magnetic property of ZnO on Mn doping prepared using solvo-thermal process. The zero field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) magnetisation of undoped ZnO showed bifurcation and magnetic hysteresis at room temperature. Upon Mn doping the magnetic hysteresis at room temperature and the bifurcation in ZFC-FC magnetization vanishes. The results seem to indicate that undoped ZnO is ferromagnetic while on the other hand the Mn doped ZnO is not a ferromagnetic system. We observe that on addition of Mn atoms the system shows antiferromagnetism with very giant magnetic moments.Comment: 5 figure

Water in the evolution of human civilization - The origin of life

    Get PDF
Water is one of the natural resources that has enabled human life to evolve into a better life. The world cannot exist without water confirms this. It is clear that man got the surplus production with the help of water. The article sets out to show that the use of water has become the lifeblood of the nomadic nomadic life, and that the struggle for food has become a life-sustaining endeavor. The source of water is what sustains human existence. The primary source of life in harmony with nature is the discovery of aquatic habitat. The article sets out to explain that water is the source of life and that water is the source of human civilization
