Analysis of the institutional frame regarding the bear management in Romanian conditions

    Get PDF
In contrast to the situation at European level, the policies of nature conservation in Romania often occupy, on national scale, only the last places in the agenda of the Romanian legislative and executive bodies. In this context, local and regional initiatives may play an important role in the conservation of nature. The Transilvania University from Brasov, along with partners from Italy, Bulgaria and Greece are implementing a LIFE+ project that work for improvement the conditions for large carnivore conservation and transfer of best practices

An Optimal Execution Problem with Market Impact

We study an optimal execution problem in a continuous-time market model that considers market impact. We formulate the problem as a stochastic control problem and investigate properties of the corresponding value function. We find that right-continuity at the time origin is associated with the strength of market impact for large sales, otherwise the value function is continuous. Moreover, we show the semi-group property (Bellman principle) and characterise the value function as a viscosity solution of the corresponding Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation. We introduce some examples where the forms of the optimal strategies change completely, depending on the amount of the trader's security holdings and where optimal strategies in the Black-Scholes type market with nonlinear market impact are not block liquidation but gradual liquidation, even when the trader is risk-neutral.Comment: 36 pages, 8 figures, a modified version of the article "An optimal execution problem with market impact" in Finance and Stochastics (2014

Drift dependence of optimal trade execution strategies under transient price impact

We give a complete solution to the problem of minimizing the expected liquidity costs in presence of a general drift when the underlying market impact model has linear transient price impact with exponential resilience. It turns out that this problem is well-posed only if the drift is absolutely continuous. Optimal strategies often do not exist, and when they do, they depend strongly on the derivative of the drift. Our approach uses elements from singular stochastic control, even though the problem is essentially non-Markovian due to the transience of price impact and the lack in Markovian structure of the underlying price process. As a corollary, we give a complete solution to the minimization of a certain cost-risk criterion in our setting

Marco de Competencias Básicas de Investigación para Clínicos de Cuidados Paliativos RESPACC

    Get PDF

High frequency trading strategies, market fragility and price spikes: an agent based model perspective

    Get PDF
Given recent requirements for ensuring the robustness of algorithmic trading strategies laid out in the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II, this paper proposes a novel agent-based simulation for exploring algorithmic trading strategies. Five different types of agents are present in the market. The statistical properties of the simulated market are compared with equity market depth data from the Chi-X exchange and found to be significantly similar. The model is able to reproduce a number of stylised market properties including: clustered volatility, autocorrelation of returns, long memory in order flow, concave price impact and the presence of extreme price events. The results are found to be insensitive to reasonable parameter variations

Practical cancer nutrition, from guidelines to clinical practice: a digital solution to patient-centred care

    Get PDF
Background Malnutrition affects 20%-70% of cancer patients, depending on tumour type, disease stage, and clinical setting. While nutritional care is essential for improving patients’ quality of life and clinical outcomes, it is not systematically integrated into routine cancer care. MyPath is a European Union project aiming to implement patient-centred care (PCC) at nine European cancer centres using implementation science. Multidisciplinary teams have developed standardised digitally supported PCC pathways based on patient-reported outcomes (PROs) with linked evidence-based management options. Through systematic assessment and management of common symptoms and psychosocial problems in cancer patients, MyPath aims to facilitate changes in clinical practice to improve PCC for all. As part of this, the MyPath Nutrition Care Pathway (NCP) aims to facilitate necessary clinical changes to routinely assess and address nutrition in all patients. Materials and methods Between September 2022 and August 2024, an international multidisciplinary team reviewed evidence-based nutrition guidelines to select relevant PROs and other variables necessary to systematically assess patients, allowing for tailored nutritional care. Results The MyPath NCP assessment relies on nutritional status (Malnutrition Screening Tool for malnutrition risk, modified Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition criteria for malnutrition, and body mass index/weight change for obesity/unintentional weight gain), health status (functional status, cancer diagnosis and prognosis, and prehabilitation needs), and inflammatory status (C-reactive protein levels). Based on this assessment, the digital solution suggests tailored, evidence-based nutritional interventions. Continuous monitoring through PROs and clinical consultations will customise care to patients’ dynamic nutritional needs. The first version of this digital solution will be piloted in 2025. Conclusions Inconsistent implementation of nutrition guidelines is a key challenge in cancer care. The MyPath NCP offers an accessible, patient-centred assessment and management system that integrates nutritional care into routine cancer care, providing a versatile solution that can be implemented across diverse health care settings

Integral representation of martingales motivated by the problem of endogenous completeness in financial economics

    No full text
Let Q and P be equivalent probability measures and let ψ be a J-dimensional vector of random variables such that dQ/dP and ψ are defined in terms of a weak solution X to a d-dimensional stochastic differential equation. Motivated by the problem of endogenous completeness in financial economics we present conditions which guarantee that every local martingale under Q is a stochastic integral with respect to the J-dimensional martingale Stδ EQ[ψ|Ft]. While the drift b=b(t,x) and the volatility σ=σ(t,x) coefficients for X need to have only minimal regularity properties with respect to x, they are assumed to be analytic functions with respect to t. We provide a counter-example showing that this t-analyticity assumption for σ cannot be removed

Numerical assessment of stress concentration in Francis runner blade — crown/band junctions

    No full text
The paper presents the results of numerical investigation for stress distribution near runner blade-crown/band junctions. Starting with the geometrical investigation of the geometries for a real turbine, different junction geometries were identified. Eight different junction geometries were numerically investigated in order to determine the stress distribution. The applied load for structural analysis was the pressure distribution, obtained from a Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis of the runner blade. The results of the stress distribution will allow to quantify the effect of different junction geometry on stress concentration and integrity of the runner.</jats:p
