    Remote MIB-item look-up service

    Despite some deficiencies, the Internet management framework is widely deployed and thousands of management information base (MIB) modules have been defined thus far. These modules are used by implementers of agent software, as well as by managers and management applications, to understand the syntax and semantics of the management information that may be exchanged. At the manager's side, MIB modules are usually stored in separate files, which are maintained by the human manager and read by the management application. Since maintenance of this file repository can be cumbersome, management applications are often confronted with incomplete and outdated information. To solve this "meta-management" problem, this paper discusses the design of a remote look-up service for MIB-item definitions. Such a service facilitates the retrieval of missing MIB module definitions, as well as definitions of individual MIB-items. Initially the service may be provided by a single server, but other servers can be added at later stages to improve performance and prevent copyright problems. It is envisaged that vendors of network equipment will also install servers, to distribute their vendor specific MIB. The paper describes how the service, which is provided on a best effort basis, can be accessed by managers/management applications, and how servers inform each other about the MIB modules they support

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh yang signifikan antara sistem rotasi kerja terhadap peningkatan kinerja pustakawan di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro. Jenis metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah sepuluh orang pustakawan yang didapat dari pemilihan informan berdasarkan tujuan tertentu (purposive sampling). Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Berdasarkan analisis data terhadap hasil wawancara yang telah dilakukan oleh peneliti, diperoleh simpulan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara sistem rotasi kerja dalam membantu peningkatan kinerja pustakawan di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro. Sistem rotasi yang diterapkan masih perlu ditinjau kembali aturan kebijakannya supaya sesuai dengan tujuan awal diterapkannya sistem rotasi kerja. Kesimpulan terakhir adalah terdapat faktor lain yang mempengaruhi kinerja pustakawan di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro, yaitu: motivasi, kesejahteraan, lingkungan kerja, team work, pimpinan, karakteristik dan jumlah pengunjung

    Cell death in hepatocellular carcinoma: Pathogenesis and therapeutic opportunities

    Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent primary liver cancer and the third leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Closely associated with liver inflammation and fibrosis, hepatocyte cell death is a common trigger for acute and chronic liver disease arising from different etiologies, including viral hepatitis, alcohol abuse, and fatty liver. In this review, we discuss the con-tribution of different types of cell death, including apoptosis, necroptosis, pyroptosis, or autophagy, to the progression of liver disease and the development of HCC. Interestingly, inflammasomes have recently emerged as pivotal innate sensors with a highly pathogenic role in various liver diseases. In this regard, an increased inflammatory response would act as a key element promoting a pro-oncogenic microenvironment that may result not only in tumor growth, but also in the formation of a premetastatic niche. Importantly, nonparenchymal hepatic cells, such as liver sinusoidal endothelial cells, hepatic stellate cells, and hepatic macrophages, play an important role in establishing the tumor microenvironment, stimulating tumorigenesis by paracrine communication through cytokines and/or angiocrine factors. Finally, we update the potential therapeutic options to inhibit tumorige-nesis, and we propose different mechanisms to consider in the tumor microenvironment field for HCC resolution. © 2021 by the authors.     SPRING 2016, 11th edition of the SPRING series, is a single-track event that was sponsored by the special interest group Security – Intrusion Detection and Response (SIDAR) of the German Informatics Society (GI). The purpose of SPRING is to provide young researchers the opportunity to discuss their work with other students and specialists in the research area of IT security. In particular, SPRING is a venue for presentation of early-stage research and solicits submission of scientific papers presenting novel research on malware analysis, intrusion detection, and related systems security topics. As per our tradition, SPRING encourages submissions from the following broad areas: Analysis of vulnerabilities, intrusion detection, malware, incident management and forensics. This year the SPRING 2016 graduate workshop was held in Darmstadt, Germany, and was hosted at the University of Applied Sciences. SPRING took place from the 2nd to the 3rd of June 2016 and was the eleventh edition of the graduate workshop on IT security. It followed the successful events in Neubiberg in 2015, Bochum in 2014, Munich in 2013, Berlin in 2012, Bochum in 2011, Bonn in 2010, Stuttgart in 2009, Mannheim in 2008, Dortmund in 2007 and Berlin in 2006. SPRING 2016 was organized in a 2-day program to encourage interactions between all participants. The program consists of a main track and opening research keynotes. The presented volume includes all extended abstracts presented at SPRING 2016 as defined within the overall final program

    Consumers are exposed to pesticide residues and other food contaminants via the diet. Both can exert adverse effects on different target organs via the activation of nuclear receptor pathways. Hepatotoxic effects of the widely used triazole fungicide propiconazole (Pi) are generally attributed to the activation of the constitutive androstane receptor (CAR) or the pregnane X receptor (PXR). We now investigated the effects of Pi on the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) and possible mixture toxicity when Pi is present in combination with BbF, an AHR ligand. In silico docking simulations indicate that Pi can bind to human AHR. Subsequent dual luciferase reporter gene assays in human HepG2 cells showed that Pi activates the AHR in vitro. This concentration-dependent activation was confirmed by real-time RT-PCR analyses of the model AHR target genes CYP1A1 and CYP1A2 in human HepaRG and HepG2 cells. In addition, induction of CYP1A1 protein levels and enzyme activity were recorded. Similarly, increased mRNA expression and enzyme activity of Cyp1a1 and Cyp1a2 was observed in livers of rats treated with Pi for 28 days via the diet. Gene expression analysis in AHR-knockout HepaRG cells showed no induction of CYP1A1 and CYP1A2, whereas gene expression in CAR-, and PXR-knockout cells was induced. Finally, mixture effects of Pi and BbF were analyzed in human cell lines: modeling of concentration\u2013response curves revealed concentration additivity. In conclusion, our results demonstrate that the triazole Pi is an activator of AHR in silico, in vitro and in vivo and causes additive effects with an established AHR ligand

    Familial Mediterranean fever, Inflammation and Nephrotic Syndrome: Fibrillary Glomerulopathy and the M680I Missense Mutation

    BACKGROUND: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive disease characterized by inflammatory serositis (fever, peritonitis, synovitis and pleuritis). The gene locus responsible for FMF was identified in 1992 and localized to the short arm of chromosome 16. In 1997, a specific FMF gene locus, MEFV, was discovered to encode for a protein, pyrin that mediates inflammation. To date, more than forty missense mutations are known to exist. The diversity of mutations identified has provided insight into the variability of clinical presentation and disease progression. CASE REPORT: We report an individual heterozygous for the M680I gene mutation with a clinical diagnosis of FMF using the Tel-Hashomer criteria. Subsequently, the patient developed nephrotic syndrome with biopsy-confirmed fibrillary glomerulonephritis (FGN). Further diagnostic studies were unremarkable with clinical workup negative for amyloidosis or other secondary causes of nephrotic syndrome. DISCUSSION: Individuals with FMF are at greater risk for developing nephrotic syndrome. The most serious etiology is amyloidosis (AA variant) with renal involvement, ultimately progressing to end-stage renal disease. Other known renal diseases in the FMF population include IgA nephropathy, IgM nephropathy, Henoch-Schönlein purpura as well as polyarteritis nodosa. CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, this is the first association between FMF and the M680I mutation later complicated by nephrotic syndrome and fibrillary glomerulonephritis
