Regularized Green's Function for the Inverse Square Potential

A Green's function approach is presented for the D-dimensional inverse square potential in quantum mechanics. This approach is implemented by the introduction of hyperspherical coordinates and the use of a real-space regulator in the regularized version of the model. The application of Sturm-Liouville theory yields a closed expression for the radial energy Green's function. Finally, the equivalence with a recent path-integral treatment of the same problem is explicitly shown.Comment: 10 pages. The final section was expande

Plan de negocios para talleres de ladrillo artesanal industrial en la parroquia de Sinincay sector Sigcho

    Get PDF
Ingeniero ComercialCuenc

Coal mine ventilation air methane combustion in a catalytic reverse flow reactor: Influence of emission humidity

    Get PDF
The role of the humidity content on the performance of catalytic reverse flow reactors (RFRs) for the abatement of methane emissions from coal mines is studied in this manuscript. It has been demonstrated that this technique is very useful for the abatement, and even upgrading, of these emissions. However, the effect of humidity on the reactor performance has not been addressed yet, in spite of being well known that water is an inhibitor in catalytic combustion. Experimental studies in a lab-scale isothermal fixed bed reactor demonstrated that water decreases the activity of a palladium on alumina catalyst for the combustion of methane, but this inhibition is entirely reversible, results fitting well to a Langmuir–Hinshelwood kinetic model. Then, the influence of water was studied in a bench-scale RFR operating at near adiabatic conditions at different switching times (100–600 s) and methane feed concentrations (2700–7200 ppm). Finally, a mathematical model for the reverse flow reactor, including the kinetic model with water inhibition, has been validated using the experimental results. This model is of key importance for designing this type of reactors for the treatment of mine ventilation emissions

Personalised meta-learning for human activity recognition with few-data.

State-of-the-art methods of Human Activity Recognition(HAR) rely on a considerable amount of labelled data to train deep architectures. This becomes prohibitive when tasked with creating models that are sensitive to personal nuances in human movement, explicitly present when performing exercises and when it is infeasible to collect training data to cover the whole target population. Accordingly, learning personalised models with few data remains an open challenge in HAR research. We present a meta-learning methodology for learning-to-learn personalised models for HAR; with the expectation that the end-user only need to provide a few labelled data. These personalised HAR models benefit from the rapid adaptation of a generic meta-model using provided few end-user data. We implement the personalised meta-learning methodology with two algorithms, Personalised MAML and Personalised Relation Networks. A comparative study shows significant performance improvements against state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms and other personalisation algorithms in multiple HAR domains. Also, we show how personalisation improved meta-model training, to learn a generic meta-model suited for a wider population while using a shallow parametric model

Point-of-care diagnostics (PoC) and personalised medicine are highly valuable for the improvement of world health. Smartphone PoC platforms which precisely diagnose diseases and track their development through the detection of several bioanalytes represent one of the newest and most exciting advancements towards mass-screening applications. Here we focus on recent advances in both multiplexed and smartphone integrated PoC sensors

    Charge-Independence Breaking in the Two-Pion-Exchange Nucleon-Nucleon Force

    Get PDF
Charge-independence breaking due to the pion-mass difference in the (chiral) two-pion-exchange nucleon-nucleon force is investigated. A general argument based on symmetries is presented that relates the charge-symmetric part of that force to the proton-proton case. The static potential linear in that mass difference is worked out as an explicit example by means of Feynman diagrams, and this confirms the general argument.Comment: 10 pages, latex, 1 figure -- epsfig.sty required -- To appear in Phys. Three-pion exchange: a gap in the nucleon-nucleon potential

The leading contribution to the three-pion exchange nucleon-nucleon potential is calculated in the framework of chiral symmetry. It has pseudoscalar and axial components and is dominated by the former, which has a range of about 1.5 fm and tends to enhance the OPEP. The strength of this force does not depend on the pion mass and hence it survives in the chiral limit.Comment: 20 pages, 5 figures, 1 tabl
