Enhanced Thermoelectric Power in Graphene: Violation of the Mott Relation By Inelastic Scattering

    Get PDF
We report the enhancement of the thermoelectric power (TEP) in graphene with extremely low disorder. At high temperature we observe that the TEP is substantially larger than the prediction of the Mott relation, approaching to the hydrodynamic limit due to strong inelastic scattering among the charge carriers. However, closer to room temperature the inelastic carrier-optical-phonon scattering becomes more significant and limits the TEP below the hydrodynamic prediction. We support our observation by employing a Boltzmann theory incorporating disorder, electron interactions, and optical phonons.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

The fauna of ichneumonid wasps (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) from Isfahan province (Iran) is studied in this paper. In total 28 species from 24 genera and 6 subfamilies (Campopleginae, Cryptinae, Ichneumoninae, Ophioninae, Pimplinae and Tryphoninae) were collected and identified. Encrateola laevigata (Ratzeburg, 1848), Mesoleptus laticintus (Walker, 1874) (Cryptinae), Hepiopelmus melanogaster (Gmelin, 1790) (Ichneumonidae), and Apechthis quadridentata (Thomson, 1877) (Pimplinae) are new records for the fauna of Iran

StichwörterPalearctic region, Middle East, distribution, list, new record, Iran.A faunistic inventory of several regions of eastern Iran revealed 30 ant species belonging to 17 genera (Aphaenogaster Mayr 1853, Camponotus Mayr 1861, Cataglyphis Foerster 1850, Crematogaster Lund 1831, Dolichoderus Lund 1831, Formica Linnaeus 1758, Lasius Fabricius 1804, Lepisiota Santschi 1926, Linepithema Mayr 1866, Messor Forel 1890, Monomorium Mayr 1855, Plagiolepis Mayr 1861, Pachycondyla Smith 1858, Pheidole Westwood 1839, Polyrhachis Smith 1857, Solenopsis Westwood 1840, Tapinoma Foerster 1850. Two species, Crematogaster laestrygon Emery, 1869 and Camponotus adenensis Emery, 1893 are recorded for the first time from Iran. The majority of species were widespread taxa. No apparently endemic species were collected. Information on local and world distribution of collected species is presented.KeywordsPalearctic region, Middle East, distribution, list, new record, Iran

Interaction Driven Quantum Hall Wedding cake-like Structures in Graphene Quantum Dots

    Get PDF
Quantum-relativistic matter is ubiquitous in nature; however it is notoriously difficult to probe. The ease with which external electric and magnetic fields can be introduced in graphene opens a door to creating a table-top prototype of strongly confined relativistic matter. Here, through a detailed spectroscopic mapping, we provide a spatial visualization of the interplay between spatial and magnetic confinement in a circular graphene resonator. We directly observe the development of a multi-tiered "wedding cake"-like structure of concentric regions of compressible/incompressible quantum Hall states, a signature of electron interactions in the system. Solid-state experiments can therefore yield insights into the behaviour of quantum-relativistic matter under extreme conditions

Spouse abuse in Iran: Where are we today?

    Get PDF
Spousal abuse is a significant social problem. Spousal abuse includes four types of violent behavior that occur between two people in an intimate relationship: physical abuse; sexual abuse; and emotional abuse. Spousal abuse as a social and health problem is accompanied with numerous negative physical and psychological outcomes. Such problems require prevention, thus many countries such as Iran have designed preventive intervention programs. © 2019, Iran University of Medical Sciences. All rights reserved

A Contribution to the Knowledge of Whiteflies (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) in Khorasan and Semnan Provinces, Iran

    Get PDF
Whiteflies (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) are some of the most potentially detrimental pests for agricultural crops and the ornamental plant industry in Iran. The present paper deals with the faunistic survey of whiteflies in two provinces of Iran, Khorasan and Semnan. During the survey a total of 16 species from 12 genera were collected and identified. Distribution data are given for the species

Spiritual care for cancer patients in Iran

    Get PDF
Background: Studies have shown that a return to spirituality is a major coping response in cancer patients so that therapists can adopt a holistic approach by addressing spirituality in their patient care. The present study was conducted to develop a guideline in the spiritual field for healthcare providers who serve cancer patients in Iran. Materials and Methods: Relevant statements were extracted from scientific documents that through study questions were reviewed and modified by a consensus panel. Results: The statements were arranged in six areas, including spiritual needs assessment, spiritual care candidates, the main components of spiritual care, spiritual care providers, the settings of spiritual care and the resources and facilities for spiritual care. Conclusions: In addition to the development and preparation of these guidelines, health policy-makers should also seek to motivate and train health service providers to offer these services and facilitate their provision and help with widespread implementation
