Counter-examples to the correlated stability conjecture
We demonstrate explicit counter-examples to the Correlated Stability
Conjecture (CSC), which claims that the horizon of a black brane is unstable
precisely if that horizon has a thermodynamic instability, meaning that its
matrix of susceptibilities has a negative eigenvalue. These examples involve
phase transitions near the horizon. Ways to restrict or revise the CSC are
suggested. One of our examples shows that N=1* gauge theory has a second order
chiral symmetry breaking phase transition at a temperature well above the
confinement scale.Comment: 18 pages, 5 figures. v2: minor improvements, reference adde
Master field treatment of metric perturbations sourced by the trailing string
We present decoupled, separable forms of the linearized Einstein equations
sourced by a string trailing behind an external quark moving through a thermal
state of N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory. We solve these equations in the
approximations of large and small wave-numbers.Comment: 40 pages, 3 figure

(Pembimbing II).
kepercayaan diri seorang atlet.
dependent yaitu prestasi Poomsae Taekwondo.
simultan membentuk persamaan regresi. Dimana setiap power otot tungkai
meningkat maka akan mengakibatkan peningkatan prestasi Poomsae Taekwondo
sebesar 0,018, setiap peningkatan keseimbangan akan mengakibatkan peningkatan
prestasi Poomsae Taekwondo sebesar 0,027, setiap peningkatan koordinasi akan
mengakibatkan peningkatan prestasi Poomsae Taekwondo sebesar 0,042, setiap
peningkatan kepercayaan diri akan mengakibatkan peningkatan prestasi Poomsae
Taekwondo sebesar 0,054.
Poomsae Taekwondo.

The stress tensor of a quark moving through N=4 thermal plasma
We develop the linear equations that describe graviton perturbations of
AdS_5-Schwarzschild generated by a string trailing behind an external quark
moving with constant velocity. Solving these equations allows us to evaluate
the stress tensor in the boundary gauge theory. Components of the stress tensor
exhibit directional structures in Fourier space at both large and small
momentum. We comment on the possible relevance of our results to relativistic
heavy ion collisions.Comment: 33 pages, 5 figures. v2: improved low K discussion; other minor

Zinc Gluconate in the Treatment of Dysgeusiaâa Randomized Clinical Trial
In the treatment of dysgeusia, the use of zinc has been frequently tried, with equivocal results. The aim of the present randomized clinical trial, which involved a sufficiently large sample, was therefore to determine the efficacy of zinc treatment. Fifty patients with idiopathic dysgeusia were carefully selected. Zinc gluconate (140 mg/day; n = 26) or placebo (lactose; n = 24) was randomly assigned to the patients. The patients on zinc improved in terms of gustatory function (p < 0.001) and rated the dysgeusia as being less severe (p < 0.05). Similarly, signs of depression in the zinc group were less severe (Beck Depression Inventory, p < 0.05; mood scale, p < 0.05). With the exception of the salivary calcium level, which was higher in the zinc patients (p < 0.05), no other significant group differences were found. In conclusion, zinc appears to improve general gustatory function and, consequently, general mood scores in dysgeusia patients
Stability of strings binding heavy-quark mesons
We investigate the stability against small deformations of strings dangling
into AdS_5-Schwarzschild from a moving heavy quark-anti-quark pair. We
speculate that emission of massive string states may be an important part of
the evolution of certain unstable configurations.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure
String creation in cosmologies with a varying dilaton
FRW solutions of the string theory low-energy effective actions are
described, yielding a dilaton which first decreases and then increases. We
study string creation in these backgrounds and find an exponential divergence
due to an initial space-like singularity. We conjecture that this singularity
may be removed by the effects of back-reaction, leading to a solution which at
early times is de Sitter space.Comment: 15 pages, latex, one figur
Low frequency quasi-normal modes of AdS black holes
We calculate analytically low frequency quasi-normal modes of gravitational
perturbations of AdS Schwarzschild black holes in dimensions. We arrive at
analytic expressions which are in agreement with their counterparts from
linearized hydrodynamics in , in accordance with the
AdS/CFT correspondence. Our results are also in good agreement with results of
numerical calculations.Comment: 14 page
