    Competencias de los Profesionales de las Tecnologías de la Información en la Sociedad 5.0

    En este trabajo se examinan los retos que plantea la penetración de las tecnologías de la información (TI) disruptivas en la sociedad, y la necesidad de utilizarlas en favor de proporcionar una vida mejor a sus ciudadanos, como centro del concepto de Sociedad 5.0. Además, describimos un esfuerzo realizado en México para definir modelos curriculares referenciales para los programas de TI basados en competencias, de modo que se brinde orientación a las instituciones educativas sobre lo que debe considerarse para diseñar con éxito los planes de estudio y abordar los desafíos del entorno laboral actual

    Morphological and ultrastructural characterization of neurospheres spontaneously generated in the culture from sheep ovarian cortical cells

    Neurospheres (NS) derived from adult stem cells of non-neural tissues represent a promising source of neural stem cells (NSCs) and neural progenitor cells (NPCs) for autologous cell therapy. Knowing the fine structure of NS cells is essential for characterizing them during differentiation or oncogenic transformation. NS are generated by culturing ovarian cortical cells (OCCs) under specific conditions. To establish whether these OCCs exhibited a similar morphophenotype as those from the central nervous system (CNS) reported in the literature, sheep OCCs were cultured for 21 days to generate NS. Expression levels of pluripotency (Nanog, octamer-binding transcription factor 4 [Oct4], and SRY-box transcription factor 2 [Sox2]) and NSCs/NPCs (nestin, paired box 6 [Pax6], and p75 neurotrophin receptor [P75NTR]) transcripts were analyzed by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), the NSC/NPC antigens were immunolocalized, and structural and ultrastructural analyses were performed in OCC-NS on Days 10, 15, and 21 in culture. Spheroids expressed transcripts and antigens of pluripotency as well as NSCs/NPCs. Cells were arranged into an inner core, with frequent apoptotic and degenerative events, and a peripheral epitheliallike cover with abundant cytoplasmic organelles, apical microvilli, and filament bundles of cytoskeleton elements. Adherens junctions and apical tight and lateral loose interdigitations were found in peripheral cells that eventually lost apical– basal polarization, which might indicate their disengaging/aggregating from/to the NS. We can conclude that OCC-NS shares the most structural and ultrastructural characteristics with CNS-NS

    Information on geographic distribution, habitat, measurements, and reproductive condition of nine species of bats from Guerrero, Mexico, is provided. Four species are the second records for the State (Choeroniscus godmani, Myotis auriculus apache, Myotis thysanodes aztecus and Nyctinomops femorosaccus), three are the third record (Musonycteris harrisoni, Chiroderma salvini scopaeum and Enchisthenes hartii), and two are the fourth record (Hylonycteris underwoodi minor and Myotis californicus mexicanus)Se aporta información sobre la distribución, hábitat, medidas y condición reproductiva de nueve especies de murciélagos del estado de Guerrero, México.     Objective: To establish the prevalence of the psychomotor development alterations in children from a month old up to 5 years old tested with EDI test. Methodology: Transversal study with a non probabilistic sample of children who entered to be evaluated with EDI test for the first time in a period from February to November 2015. It took 204 evaluations through the SPSS V program. Results: 54 (26.47%) children resulted with some alert data, in which 32 (59.26%) referred lag in their development and 22 (40.74%) with risk of development delay. The rest were 150 (73.53%) tests with normal development. Conclusions: The high index of urinary tract infections during the prenatal period such as the preterm births stimulates the prevalence of psychomotor development alterations, which is why it is important the correct manage during pregnancy

    The COVID-19 pandemic represents a valuable opportunity to carry out cohort studies that allow us to advance our knowledge on pathophysiological mechanisms of neuropsychiatric diseases. One of these opportunities is the study of the relationships between inflammation, brain development and an increased risk of suffering neuropsychiatric disorders. Based on the hypothesis that neuroinflammation during early stages of life is associated with neurodevelopmental disorders and confers a greater risk of developing neuropsychiatric disorders, we propose a cohort study of SARS-CoV-2-infected pregnant women and their newborns. The main objective of SIGNATURE project is to explore how the presence of prenatal SARS-CoV-2 infection and other non-infectious stressors generates an abnormal inflammatory activity in the newborn. The cohort of women during the COVID-19 pandemic will be psychological and biological monitored during their pregnancy, delivery, childbirth and postpartum. The biological information of the umbilical cord (foetus blood) and peripheral blood from the mother will be obtained after childbirth. These samples and the clinical characterisation of the cohort of mothers and newborns, are tremendously valuable at this time. This is a protocol report and no analyses have been conducted yet, being currently at, our study is in the recruitment process step. At the time of this publication, we have identified 1,060 SARS-CoV-2 infected mothers and all have already given birth. From the total of identified mothers, we have recruited 537 SARS-COV-2 infected women and all of them have completed the mental health assessment during pregnancy. We have collected biological samples from 119 mothers and babies. Additionally, we have recruited 390 non-infected pregnant women

    Clinical and Sociodemographic Determinants of Adherence to World Cancer Research Fund/American Institute for Cancer Research (WCRF/AICR) Recommendations in Breast Cancer Survivors-Health-EpiGEICAM Study

    Breast cancer (BC) survivors are advised to follow the WCRF/AICR cancer prevention recommendations, given their high risk of developing a second tumour. We aimed to explore compliance with these recommendations in BC survivors and to identify potentially associated clinical and sociodemographic factors. A total of 420 BC survivors, aged 31-80, was recruited from 16 Spanish hospitals. Epidemiological, dietary and physical activity information was collected through questionnaires. A 7-item score to measure compliance with the recommendations was built according to the 2018 WCRF/AICR scoring criteria. Standardized prevalences and standardized prevalence ratios of moderate and high compliance across participant characteristics were estimated using multinomial and binary logistic regression models. The mean score was 3.9 (SD: 1.0) out of 7 points. Recommendations with the worst adherence were those of limiting consumption of red/processed meats (12% of compliance, 95% CI: 8.2-15.0) and high fibre intake (22% of compliance, 95% CI: 17.6-27.0), while the best compliance was observed for the consumption of fruits and vegetables (73% of compliance, 95% CI: 69.2-77.7). Overall, adherence was worse in women with university education and in those with first-degree relatives with BC.     Healthcare workers hospitalized due to COVID-19 have no higher risk of death than general population. Data from the Spanish SEMI-COVID-19 Registry

    Aim To determine whether healthcare workers (HCW) hospitalized in Spain due to COVID-19 have a worse prognosis than non-healthcare workers (NHCW). Methods Observational cohort study based on the SEMI-COVID-19 Registry, a nationwide registry that collects sociodemographic, clinical, laboratory, and treatment data on patients hospitalised with COVID-19 in Spain. Patients aged 20-65 years were selected. A multivariate logistic regression model was performed to identify factors associated with mortality. Results As of 22 May 2020, 4393 patients were included, of whom 419 (9.5%) were HCW. Median (interquartile range) age of HCW was 52 (15) years and 62.4% were women. Prevalence of comorbidities and severe radiological findings upon admission were less frequent in HCW. There were no difference in need of respiratory support and admission to intensive care unit, but occurrence of sepsis and in-hospital mortality was lower in HCW (1.7% vs. 3.9%; p = 0.024 and 0.7% vs. 4.8%; p<0.001 respectively). Age, male sex and comorbidity, were independently associated with higher in-hospital mortality and healthcare working with lower mortality (OR 0.211, 95%CI 0.067-0.667, p = 0.008). 30-days survival was higher in HCW (0.968 vs. 0.851 p<0.001). Conclusions Hospitalized COVID-19 HCW had fewer comorbidities and a better prognosis than NHCW. Our results suggest that professional exposure to COVID-19 in HCW does not carry more clinical severity nor mortality

    I.amAble: aprendizaje e inclusión educativa mediante talleres científicos

    I.amAble ha ofrecido a estudiantes universitarios de física, química, veterinaria, biología y educación la oportunidad de complementar su formación mediante el diseño, la realización y la evaluación de talleres científicos que faciliten la inclusión de personas con diversidad cognitiva. Los talleres han sido diseñados por el alumnado universitario de ciencias y perfilados por estudiantes de educación para ser llevados a cabo por alumnado preuniversitario en parejas, de forma que un miembro pertenezca a un centro de secundaria ordinario y el otro miembro a un centro de educación especial. Aquellos talleres que se han considerado más adecuados por su adaptabilidad se han llevado a la práctica guiados por estudiantes de ciencias y de educación. Los miembros del proyecto, que incluyen representantes de todos los estamentos universitarios, han supervisado todas las tareas descritas anteriormente. Además de los miembros de la Universidad Complutense, también figuran personas voluntarias de otras instituciones científicas y educativas. El alumnado universitario ha tenido la posibilidad, no sólo de asentar y profundizar algunos contenidos científicos o poner en práctica algunas de las enseñanzas adquiridas, sino también de desarrollar su empatía, su capacidad de comunicar e improvisar y de adaptarse a un público heterogéneo. Ello ha mejorado sus perspectivas laborales, especialmente dentro de la educación formal e informal (animación sociocultural, museos científicos...). Además, han contribuido a facilitar la inclusión educativa de las personas con diversidad funcional y a mejorar la cultura científica de la sociedad. Con este proyecto, inspirado en la metodología Aprendizaje-Servicio (ApS), se ha pretendido también mejorar la accesibilidad a las experiencias y contenidos científicos y facilitar la inclusión educativa de las personas con diversidad funcional, especialmente diversidad cognitiva o intelectual. En la primera edición de I.amAble (2016-17) se hizo hincapié en el diseño y selección de fichas para hacer talleres (aunque también se realizaron talleres). En la segunda edición (2017-18) se puso un mayor énfasis en llevar los talleres a un mayor número de centros educativos. En la pasada edición (2018-19) se puso el acento en los procesos de evaluación. En esta cuarta edición (2019-20), se han seguido trabajando y puliendo todos esos aspectos, pero se ha priorizado la transformación de I.amAble en un proyecto de tipo aprendizaje-servicio, integrándolo en asignaturas formales, concretamente en Complementos de Física y Complementos de Química, del Máster en Formación de Profesorado, en la especialidad de Física y Química
