The Resource Curse and Rentier States in the Caspian Region : A Need for Context Analysis

Although much attention is paid to the Caspian region with regard to energy issues, the domestic consequences of the region’s resource production have so far constituted a neglected field of research. A systematic survey of the latest research trends in the economic and political causalities of the resource curse and of rentier states reveals that there is a need for context analysis. In reference to this, the paper traces any shortcomings and promising approaches in the existent body of literature on the Caspian region. Following on from this, the paper then proposes a new approach; specifically, one in which any differences and similarities in the context conditions are captured. This enables a more precise exploration of the exact ways in which they form contemporary post-Soviet Caspian rentier states.Obwohl der Region am Kaspischen Meer im Zuge von Energiediskursen große Aufmerksamkeit zuteil wird, stellen die innerstaatlichen Folgen der Ressourcenproduktion in der Region ein bislang vernachlässigtes Forschungsfeld dar. Ein systematischer Überblick über die jüngsten Forschungstrends zu wirtschaftlichen und politischen Kausalzusammenhängen des Ressourcenfluchs und zu Rentierstaaten offenbart die Notwendigkeit von Kontextanalysen. Hierauf Bezug nehmend, analysiert der Aufsatz sowohl die Mängel als auch viel versprechende Ansätze in der betreffenden Literatur zur Region am Kaspischen Meer. Der Aufsatz stellt letztendlich einen neuen Ansatz vor, der Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten in den Kontextbedingungen erfasst, um zu erforschen, wie diese die gegenwärtigen post-sowjetischen Rentierstaaten in der Region am Kaspischen Meer tatsächlich prägen

Evaluation of factors affecting market environment of Turmenistan: Sectoral analysis

Gıda Sanayii gelişmekte olan ülkelerin ekonomik kalkınma sürecinde önemli rol oynayan bir sanayii dalıdır. Bu sanayii dalı çok kısa tarihi olan ve yeni yeni dışa açık ekonomik politikalara önem vermeye başlayan Türkmenistan içinde sağladığı istihdam ve yabancı doğrudan yatırımlar bakımından önemli bir yere sahiptir. Türkmenistan'da Gıda Sanayiinin gelişim süreci 1990'lı yılların ortalarında başlamış ve özellikle türk girişimcilerinin yatırımları ile önemli ölçüde gelişim göstermiştir. "Türkmenistan Pazar Çevresini Etkileyen Faktörlerin Değerlendirilmesi: Sektörel Bir İnceleme" konulu bu çalışmada, Türkmenistan'ın gıda sanayiisi ve gıda pazarı ele alınmıştır. Bu kapsamda ilk olarak, pazar çevresi ve pazar çevresini etkileyen faktörler ele alınmıştır. Bir sonraki bölümde, tanıtım amaçlı Türkmenistan'ın genel yapısı incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde, dünya gıda sanayiine genel bir bakış ele alınmış, Türkmenistan Gıda Sanayisinin ve Gıda Pazarının özellikleri ve üstünlükleri analiz edilmiştir. Bu bölümde ayrıca, Türkmenistan Gıda Sanayiinin ve Gıda Pazarının "güçlü" ve "zayıf" yönleri belirlenerek SWOT analizi yapılmıştır. Sonuç kısmında ise, genel değerlendirme yapılarak öneriler sunulmuştur. This industrial branch ownes important place, in terms of employment and foreign direct investment potential, in Turkmenistan's economy too, which newly started to attach importance to extroverted economic politics. Food İndustry of Turmenistan started to develope in the middle of 1990's and especially turkish enterprisers have high contribution to this process. İn this study Turkmenistan's food industry are examined with the title "Evaluation of Factors Affecting Market Environment of Turmenistan: Sectoral Analysis". The first part of study provides general information about market environment and factors affecting market environment. In next part of study general information about Turkmenistan's country structure is given. In the third part of study, general outlook of world food industry is given, features and advantages of Turkmenistan's Food Industry and Food Market is analysed. In this chapter also, "strong" and "weak" points of Turkmenistan's Food Industry and Food Market has been defined by SWOT analyse. Finally an overall appraisal has evaluated and proposals has presented.
