This study focuses on the two chap-books from Burgos RMND 674 and RMND 673. After a brief mention to the engravings that lead the poems, I will review the five poems included in the two chap-books (both print the same ones) and the possible meaning that this selection of works -all but accidental- could have for the reader. After considering the probable relation between the printing of the chap-books and the historical period in which it was carried out, I will analyze the transmission of the poems. I will examine the relations between the chap-books, highlighting the bond of the printed romances in the RMND 674 with the undated Cancionero de romances of Amberes and the use of the Cancionero general by Hernando de Castillo as the source of the poem of Gómez ManriqueEste estudio se centra en los dos pliegos sueltos burgaleses RMND 674 y RMND 673.

In this paper I will analyze the poem – decir narrativo – “Querella de amor” by the Marqués de Santillana and its transmission process across the XV and XVI centuries. I will focus on specific studies on this issue in order to identify which better highlights the complex situation of the diffusion of this poem while also restating the hypothesis that we can talk of variants of author. Additionally, I will draw attention to the thorny issue of the fragments inserted in the poem. Finally, I will examine the legacy of the ML3, a manuscript which has not been thoroughly studied so far, in order to determine the existing relations with the other cancioneros that are usually used as referenceEn el presente artículo se considerará el decir narrativo del Marqués de Santillana “Querella de amor” en su proceso de transmisión a lo largo de los siglos XV y XVI.

A Rule-based Engine to support a Framework for the Experimental Validation of Domain Specific Languages

Software systems are widely used in people daily routines and responsibilities, therefore, systems need to be developed rapidly and efficiently. Domain specific languages (DSLs) are languages that are applied to a specific application domain. Since DSLs provide notations and constructs adapted to a particular domain, they offer gains in expressiveness and ease of use when compared with general-purpose languages (GPLs). Therefore, one of the most important steps in the Software Language Engineering is the evaluation of the languages produced, with the end-users, since the risk of building inappropriate languages, that often do not fit the end users, may decrease productivity. Although DSLs evaluation is one of the most important steps in development process, Software Language Engineers tend to relax the experimental validation of their products due to several reasons like costs (time, means, money, the number of people required, etc.) and required know-how associated with it. The lack of systematic approaches and guidelines to evaluate DSLs, and a comprehensive set of tools may explain this shortcoming in the current state of practice. The Usability Driven DSL development with USE-ME (USE-ME) approach, developed in NOVA-LINCS, "promotes the quality in use of DSLs by building a framework that leverages usability as a main concern". The feedback of the pilot studies was that despite the approach was "more or less easy" to understand it was not easy to model, since "there were too many steps to follow" and the framework did not provide a "guided cycle". So, in order to improve the system usability and the quality of the models produced with USE-ME, we developed a new version of the framework with validation rules implemented with Eclipse Validation Language (EVL) that guide, suggest and validate the Software Language Engineer actions throughout the development process. The validation rules were designed in such a way that the tool educates the user about the process, so that the user makes the best decision regarding his DSL evaluation. We performed two experiments, with different goals. The main goals of the first one was to analyse the effect of validation rules on the USE-ME framework, with respect to their impact on the System Usability Scale, and on the Model Correctness of USE-ME models. We analysed the results and we found evidences of improvements on the System Usability Scale, and on the Model Correctness of models, brought by the addition of the rules. The second experiment was conducted with a research team from Ege University, in Turkey. The main goal of this experiment was to perform a guided evaluation on a DSL related with Multi-Agent Systems, SEA-ML. Since the number of participants was low we cannot draw conclusions regarding this experiment. Despite the significant results from the first experiment further evaluation on the new version of the framework is necessary, this time, with more experienced users and with more complex exercises. With this new experiment, we can compare the results and improve the USE-ME framework

Summary:. Columella is an important structure in the center of the face, and its structural integrity has an important functional, social, and psychological role. Columella reconstruction can be very challenging for surgeons and the ideal technique remains elusive. This article describes a reconstruction technique in a young woman with columella necrosis due to nasal continuous positive airway pressure treatment. The method of reconstruction described here, with a V-shaped internal nasal vestibular flap and a cartilage grafts from lateral crura, is simple and easily reproducible, providing an optimal aesthetic result and in addition the donor site does not create a secondary deformity by disrupting normal anatomy

    Communicating astronomy: Knowing your audience

    Get PDF
Science communication practitioners are always looking for better ways to engage their public. This is the case for astronomy communicators, a community of practice that is interested in engaging with those who are traditionally out of the science radar, including the less privileged ones. One of the major challenges astronomy communicators face when addressing the public is related to knowing what their interests are, whether they have and which are their misconceptions and ideas about astronomy, if any. Building strategies to know one’s audience may be decisive for the success of an astronomy communication practice, both in formal and informal settings. In this article, we present some of the challenges practitioners may face when communicating astronomy to today´s audiences and suggest approaches to address them.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Epigenetic perturbations in aging stem cells

    Get PDF
Stem cells maintain homeostasis in all regenerating tissues during the lifespan of an organism. Thus, age-related functional decline of such tissues is likely to be at least partially explained by molecular events occurring in the stem cell compartment. Some of these events involve epigenetic changes, which may dictate how an aging genome can lead to differential gene expression programs. Recent technological advances have made it now possible to assess the genome-wide distribution of an ever-increasing number of epigenetic marks. As a result, the hypothesis that there may be a causal role for an altered epigenome contributing to the functional decline of cells, tissues, and organs in aging organisms can now be explored. In this paper, we review recent developments in the field of epigenetic regulation of stem cells, and how this may contribute to aging

Combination of negative pressure wound therapy and systemic steroid therapy in postsurgical pyoderma gangrenosum after reduction mammoplasty; a case of proven efficacy and safety

    Get PDF
Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare non-infective inflammatory disease of unknown etiology characterized by cutaneous papulo-pustoles that rapidly evolve into painful ulcerative lesions. Postoperative PG (PPG) is a clinical variant of PG in which pathergic response occurs at surgical sites. It is important to include PG in the differential diagnosis of breast ulceration. An incorrect diagnosis and treatment can potentially worsen the patient state, causing disfigurement with extensive scarring, an unpleasant aesthetic result and produce consequent psychological trauma. We report a case of PPG after bilateral breast reduction mammoplasty treated with negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) as local treatment for wound dehiscence in combination with systemic steroid therapy. This synergism led to a good aesthetic result. NPWT improved wound perfusion, it decreased the exudate, and promoted adherence of the mammary gland to the pectoral muscle. After 31 days deep sutures were placed to directly close the wound and the patient was discharged. PPG is a rare, devastating occurrence after surgery. Surgeons must know that PPG is an evenience that can occur in otherwise healthy patients and must be considered in the differential diagnosis in case of necrotic ulcers and apparent infection status. NPWT resulted to have benefits in the treatment of PPG, with a role in limiting the size of the defect, avoiding pathergic self-reaction and allowing a faster recovery with higher chances of achieving a better result
