    PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS INFLUENCING SPORT PLAYERS’ PERFORMANCE IN CHINA

    Previous studies revealed that the factors that deal with the cognition of the athletes are the psychological factors, however, most essential psychological factors that lead to performance, and most of the findings are based on the relationship between one or very limited factors that are affecting athlete performance rather than considering a considerable number of psychological factors. Specifically, little attention has been given to the research aspect of sports in China, even though a large number of research are done in Western countries. The current study explores the relationship between emotion, spirituality, self-talk, self-efficacy, goal-orientation, intrinsic motivation, and sport players’ performance. A total of 308 respondents were used for data analysis through SPSS and structural equation modeling which showed that spirituality, goal-orientation, and self-talk positively influence performance and emotion negatively influences performance. Self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation non-significantly influence performance. Lastly, theoretical, and practical implications as well as limitations were discussed accordingly.  Article visualizations

    CATER: Intellectual Property Protection on Text Generation APIs via Conditional Watermarks

    Previous works have validated that text generation APIs can be stolen through imitation attacks, causing IP violations. In order to protect the IP of text generation APIs, a recent work has introduced a watermarking algorithm and utilized the null-hypothesis test as a post-hoc ownership verification on the imitation models. However, we find that it is possible to detect those watermarks via sufficient statistics of the frequencies of candidate watermarking words. To address this drawback, in this paper, we propose a novel Conditional wATERmarking framework (CATER) for protecting the IP of text generation APIs. An optimization method is proposed to decide the watermarking rules that can minimize the distortion of overall word distributions while maximizing the change of conditional word selections. Theoretically, we prove that it is infeasible for even the savviest attacker (they know how CATER works) to reveal the used watermarks from a large pool of potential word pairs based on statistical inspection. Empirically, we observe that high-order conditions lead to an exponential growth of suspicious (unused) watermarks, making our crafted watermarks more stealthy. In addition, \cater can effectively identify the IP infringement under architectural mismatch and cross-domain imitation attacks, with negligible impairments on the generation quality of victim APIs.     Predictors of patients’ loyalty toward doctors on web-based health communities: cross-sectional study

    Background: Web-based health communities provide means for patients to not only seek care but also to promote their relationship with doctors. However, little is known about the predictors of patients’ loyalty toward doctors in Web-based health communities. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the predictors of patients’ loyalty toward doctors in Web-based health communities. Methods: On the basis of sociotechnical systems theory and attachment theory, we propose that social factors including emotional interaction, perceived expertise, and social norm influence patients’ loyalty through their emotional attachment, whereas technical factors including sociability, personalization, and perceived security affect patients’ loyalty through functional dependence. To validate our proposed research model, we used the survey method and collected 373 valid answers. Partial least square was used to analyze the data. Results: Our empirical analysis results showed that all the social factors including emotional interaction (beta=.257, t350=2.571; P=.01), perceived expertise (beta=.288, t350=3.412; P=.001), and social norm (beta=.210, t350=2.017; P=.04) affect patients’ emotional attachment toward doctors significantly, whereas except sociability (beta=.110, t350=1.152; P=.25), technical factors such as personalization (beta=.242, t350=2.228; P=.03) and perceived security (beta=.328, t350=3.438; P=.001) impact functional dependence significantly. Considering the effect of working mechanisms, both emotional attachment (beta=.443, t350=4.518; P<.001) and functional dependence (beta=.303, t350=2.672; P=.008) influence patients’ loyalty toward doctors in Web-based health communities significantly. Conclusions: Patients’ loyalty toward doctors in Web-based health communities is important for the effectiveness of doctors’ advice or service in Web-based health communities. The research results not only fill the gaps in the literature of the patient-doctor relationship and Web-based health communities but also has many implications for establishing patients’ loyalty on Web-based health communities and in physical context

    Melancholy or mahjong? diversity, frequency, type, and rural-urban divide of social participation and depression in middle- and old-aged Chinese: a fixed-effects analysis

    The potential benefit of social participation (SP) to one's mental health has been widely acknowledged. Nevertheless, the specific type and amount of SP that is associated with improved depressive symptoms in middle- and old-aged Chinese awaits further investigation. This study aimed to understand the patterns of depression and SP by comparing urban vs rural China, and according to which, measure the associations between changes in SP and that in depressive symptoms. A total of 10,988 community residents aged 45 years and above were selected from wave 1 (2011), wave 2 (2013), and wave 4 (2015) of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), a nationally representative survey. The fixed-effects analysis was used to explore the association between the changes in diversity, frequency, and type of SP and the changes in depressive symptoms. The results indicated that rural respondents suffered from a significantly higher risk of depression and took less SP than their urban counterparts. Transitioning from no SP to 1 or more types of SP or to a once a week or higher frequency was associated with a decline in depressive symptoms. For urban respondents, playing mah-jong or cards and joining sports or social clubs predicted a decline in depressive symptoms. For rural residents, interacting with friends regularly was associated with fewer depressive symptoms. In conclusion, more diverse and higher frequency of SP was associated with better mental health, while the social significance of SP varied across different types of SP and between rural and urban areas. © 2019 Elsevier Lt

    Surface Charge Induced Dirac Band Splitting in a Charge Density Wave Material (TaSe4)2I

    (TaSe4)2I, a quasi-one-dimensional (1D) crystal, shows a characteristic temperature-driven metal-insulator phase transition. Above the charge density wave (CDW) temperature Tc, (TaSe4)2I has been predicted to harbor a Weyl semimetal phase. Below Tc, it becomes an axion insulator. Here, we performed angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) measurements on the (110) surface of (TaSe4)2I and observed two sets of Dirac-like energy bands in the first Brillion zone, which agree well with our first-principles calculations. Moreover, we found that each Dirac band exhibits an energy splitting of hundreds of meV under certain circumstances. In combination with core level measurements, our theoretical analysis showed that this Dirac band splitting is a result of surface charge polarization due to the loss of surface iodine atoms. Our findings here shed new light on the interplay between band topology and CDW order in Peierls compounds and will motivate more studies on topological properties of strongly correlated quasi-1D materials.Comment: 18 pages, 4 figures.     Assessment of immunotherapy response in intracranial malignancy using semi-automatic segmentation on magnetic resonance images

    ObjectiveTo explore multi-aspect radiologic assessment of immunotherapy response in intracranial malignancies based on a semi-automatic segmentation technique, and to explore volumetric thresholds with good performance according to RECIST 1.1 thresholds.MethodsPatients diagnosed with intracranial malignancies and treated with immunotherapy were included retrospectively. In all MR images, target lesions were measured using a semi-automatic segmentation technique that could intelligently generate visual diagrams including RECIST 1.1, total volume, and max. 3D diameter. The changes in parameters were calculated for each patient after immunotherapy. The ROC curve was used to analyze the sensitivity and specificity of the size change of the legion. This was useful to find new volumetric thresholds with better efficiency in response assessment. The changes in total volume were assessed by conventional volumetric thresholds, while RECIST 1.1 thresholds were for the max. 3D diameter. A chi-square test was used to compare the concordance and diagnostic correlation between the response assessment results of the three criteria.ResultsA total of 20 cases (average age, 58 years; range, 23 to 84 years) and 58 follow-up MR examinations after immunotherapy were included in the analysis. The P-value of the chi-square test between RECIST 1.1 and total volume is 0 (P &lt;0.05), same as that in RECIST 1.1 and max. 3D diameter. The kappa value of the former two was 0.775, and the kappa value for the latter two was 0.742. The above results indicate a significant correlation and good concordance for all three criteria. In addition, we also found that the volumetric assessment had the best sensitivity and specificity for the immunotherapy response in intracranial malignancies, with a PR threshold of −64.9% and a PD threshold of 21.4%.ConclusionsRadiologic assessment of immunotherapy response in intracranial malignancy can be performed by multiple criteria based on semi-automatic segmentation technique on MR images, such as total volume, max. 3D diameter and RECIST 1.1. In addition, new volumetric thresholds with good sensitivity and specificity were found by volumetric assessment

    Genome-Wide Association Analysis in Asthma Subjects Identifies SPATS2L as a Novel Bronchodilator Response Gene

    Bronchodilator response (BDR) is an important asthma phenotype that measures reversibility of airway obstruction by comparing lung function (i.e. FEV1) before and after the administration of a short-acting β2-agonist, the most common rescue medications used for the treatment of asthma. BDR also serves as a test of β2-agonist efficacy. BDR is a complex trait that is partly under genetic control. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) of BDR, quantified as percent change in baseline FEV1 after administration of a β2-agonist, was performed with 1,644 non-Hispanic white asthmatic subjects from six drug clinical trials: CAMP, LOCCS, LODO, a medication trial conducted by Sepracor, CARE, and ACRN. Data for 469,884 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were used to measure the association of SNPs with BDR using a linear regression model, while adjusting for age, sex, and height. Replication of primary P-values was attempted in 501 white subjects from SARP and 550 white subjects from DAG. Experimental evidence supporting the top gene was obtained via siRNA knockdown and Western blotting analyses. The lowest overall combined P-value was 9.7E-07 for SNP rs295137, near the SPATS2L gene. Among subjects in the primary analysis, those with rs295137 TT genotype had a median BDR of 16.0 (IQR = [6.2, 32.4]), while those with CC or TC genotypes had a median BDR of 10.9 (IQR = [5.0, 22.2]). SPATS2L mRNA knockdown resulted in increased β2-adrenergic receptor levels. Our results suggest that SPATS2L may be an important regulator of β2-adrenergic receptor down-regulation and that there is promise in gaining a better understanding of the biological mechanisms of differential response to β2-agonists through GWAS

    Current status of postpartum depression and how to prevent by nursing

    Background Postpartum depression is one of the most common complications of childbirth. Its consequences are serious, not only causing self-harm to the mother, but also negatively affecting the baby, family, and society. In severe cases, suicide, child abuse, and child killing may even occur. In recent years, the detection rate of postpartum depression varies across the world, but the overall trend is increasing. Task and objective The purpose of this study is to find out how do nurses recognize postpartum depression? Data were colllected using the CINAHL database and PubMed. Eight peer-reviewed and reliable research articles were then screened for analysis by reading the overall literature. Three main categories were generated: Education about postpartum depression, Postpartum depression screening, and Recognize the causes of postpartum depression. Conclusion Research suggests that education, use of the Postpartum Depression Identification Tool (EPDS) and understanding the causes of postpartum depression can help nurses identify postpartum depression. Nurses need more expertise and professional nursing competencies on postpartum depression. Knowledge base and nursing skills can be enhanced through specific training
