    MANAGEMENT OF STATUS EPILEPTICUS IN COMATOSE PATIENTS

    Among the patients with different types of Epilepsy, there is one of the most dangerous form named - Status Epilepticus, which needs emergency management. Without early response and correct treatment, patient’s health condition may become critical up to death. The most difficult treatment of Status Epilepticus is in patients with unknown coma. Under our observation, there were 22 patients with different etiological factors of coma. For clinical observation we used EEG monitoring and MRI scan in dynamics. According the health history of patients, we find out that 9 of them had immunological and unknown disorders causing Status Epilepticus. In three cases, main disease progression was determined without any leader etiological factors, which might cause immunological disorders. In 7 cases, there were nonconvulsive Status epilepticus. While all of these patients were under the general anesthesia, we were using anticonvulsive drugs in combination with immunotherapy and hormonotherapy. In two cases, we could not control Status Epilepticus. The EEG and MRI scan monitoring in dynamics shows us that difficulty in control of SE might be caused by exacerbation of the main disease. In conclusion, the acute disorders of central neuron system and early response of critical conditions are very important in correct and high quality management of both: Convulsive and non-Convulsive types of Status Epilepticus.Among the patients with different types of Epilepsy, there is one of the most dangerous form named - Status Epilepticus, which needs emergency management.     Dispersion in a relativistic degenerate electron gas

    Relativistic effects on dispersion in a degenerate electron gas are discussed by comparing known response functions derived relativistically (by Jancovici) and nonrelativistically (by Lindhard). The main distinguishing feature is one-photon pair creation, which leads to logarithmic singularities in the response functions. Dispersion curves for longitudinal waves have a similar tongue-like appearance in the relativistic and nonrelativistic case, with the main relativistic effects being on the Fermi speed and the cutoff frequency. For transverse waves the nonrelativistic treatment has a nonphysical feature near the cutoff frequency for large Fermi momenta, and this is attributed to an incorrect treatment of the electron spin. We find (with two important provisos) that one-photon pair creation is allowed in superdense plasmas, implying relatively strong coupling between transverse waves and pair creation.Comment: 17 pages, 9 figures.     Here we discuss the possibility of employment of ultrarelativistic electron and proton bunches for generation of high plasma wakefields in dense plasmas due to the Cherenkov resonance plasma-bunch interaction. We estimate the maximum amplitude of such a wake and minimum system length at which the maximum amplitude can be generated at the given bunch parameters.Comment: 8 page

    Experimental Study of the Effect of External Signal on Microwave Oscillations in a Nonrelativistic Electron Beam with Virtual Cathode

    The effect of an external harmonic signal on the characteristics of microwave generation in a nonrelativistic electron beam with virtual cathode (VC) formed in a static retarding electric field (low-voltage vircator system) has been experimentally studied. A significant increase in the vircator generation power is observed when the frequency of the external signal is close to the frequency of VC oscillations. There are many experimental efforts with a variety of techniques. Some (EXO, Kamland-Zen, GERDA phase I and CANDLES) started take data in 2011 and EXO has reported the first measurement of the half life for the double beta decay with two neutrinos of 136^{136}Xe.     Real-life impact of COVID-19 pandemic lockdown on the management of pediatric and adult asthma: A survey by the EAACI Asthma Section

    Background: The restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic impact heavily the management of chronic diseases like asthma. This study aimed to evaluate the management of adults and children with asthma during COVID-19-related lockdown. Methods: A survey was launched by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) via e-mail, website, and social media to EAACI members and members of peer societies. Results: The survey was completed by 339 healthcare professionals from 52 countries. 79% of follow-up consultations were replaced by phone calls, whereas 49% of newly referred patients attended the clinic. 62%, 76%, 66%, 76%, and 87% of responders did not conduct spirometry, impulse oscillometry, bronchodilator test, FeNO, or methacholine provocation, respectively, for asthma diagnosis in adults. The numbers were similar for children. 73% of responders based the initial asthma diagnosis and the prescription of inhaled therapy on clinical parameters only. Lung function tests were used in 29% of cases to monitor asthma worsening, and only 56% of participants were recommended to their patients ambulatory peak expiratory flow (PEF) measurements. Using a 1 (not at all) to 5 (very much) scale, the responders considered that the quality of healthcare provided and the patients’ asthma status had deteriorated during the lockdown with 3.2 points and 2.8 points, respectively. Conclusion: Collectively, these results suggest that all necessary resources should be allocated to ensure the performance of lung function tests for initial diagnosis, whereas digital remote monitoring should be reinforced for the follow-up of children and adults with asthma
