L’immagine che oggi il Mediterraneo offre è lungi dall’essere rassicurante. Ai nostri giorni si può dire che le sue opposte rive non abbiano in comune che le loro insoddisfazioni. E sempre più si percepisce questo mare come spazio di attraversamenti intollerati. Percepire il Mediterraneo partendo dal suo passato rimane tuttavia un’abitudine tenace, e a volte viene da pensare che la retrospettiva prevalga sulla prospettiva. La retrospettiva è però irrinunciabile, oggi più che mai. E lo è nel momento in cui la realizzazione di una convivenza in seno ai territori multietnici, là dove si incrociano e si mescolano culture, religioni, lingue diverse, conosce sotto i nostri occhi uno smacco crudele. Con questa nuova Collana, il Centro di studi filologici e linguistici siciliani conferma la speciale attenzione per la Scuola, alla quale vuole offrire agili strumenti di approfondimento sugli aspetti più diversi della storia linguistica della Sicilia e della cultura dialettale. La pubblicazione di questo primo testo, nel quale si ricostruiscono succintamente molteplici percorsi di parole e di cose tra Oriente e Occidente, si colloca ancora una volta nel contesto mediterraneo, oggi tragicamente sconvolto da migrazioni di donne, uomini, bambini, ma anche arricchito dall’incontro di lingue e di culture. Questo volumetto vuole essere perciò un contributo a una migliore comprensione di quanto – oggi come ieri – accade intorno a noi

Accogliere uomini, accogliere parole. Lampedusa: una storia esemplare di ieri e di oggi.

Pour ceux qui viennent d’Afrique, Lampedusa est la porte d’entrée à l’Europe. À 200 km de la Sicile et encore moins de la Tunisie, le monde la connaît aujourd’hui pour la générosité de ses habitants qui accueillent les multitudes de migrants arrivant d’Afrique dans des circonstances dramatiques. L’auteur croit que cette capacité à accueillir peut s’expliquer entre autres par l’histoire de ce petit lambeau de terre du canal de Sicile. Si on considère la Méditerranée avec des yeux de linguiste, on se rend vite compte que ces petites îles méritent un discours spécifique. On ne peut parler de Lampedusa sans parler de la Sicile, et on ne peut parler de la Sicile sans parler de la Méditerranée.For those coming from Africa, Lampedusa is the front door to Europe. Less than 200 ks from Sicily and even closer to Tunisia, it is known today the world over for the generosity of its inhabitants who welcome the multitudes of migrants arriving from Africa in dire circumstances. The author believes that the capacity to take in can be explained among others by the history of that small bit of land protruding into the canal of Sicily. If one looks at the Mediterranean with a linguist’s eye, one realizes that these small islands deserve a special mention. One cannot talk of Lampedusa without speaking of Sicily, and one cannot talk of Sicily without speaking of the Mediterranean

A necessidade de uma regulamentação para o e-sport: busca pela segurança dos direitos trabalhistas dos atletas de esporte eletrônico

O presente artigo científico versará sobre as modalidades de esporte eletrônico. O e-sport, como é denominado, trata de uma categoria desportiva competitiva e profissional, exercida por meio de mecanismos eletrônicos como computadores e consoles. O presente trabalho, por meio de revisão bibliográfica, jurisprudencial e doutrinária, abordará essa nova categoria, como também a realidade enfrentada pelos seus praticantes, examinando o exercício desta profissão é caracterizado por princípios característicos de uma relação empregatícia, de modo a explanar a necessidade de uma legislação específica. Inicialmente, apresentará o conceito do esporte eletrônico e as atividades que um atleta desta categoria exerce em sua rotina diária. Em seguida, analisará a classificação do esporte eletrônico dentro do direito desportivo. Explicará como é constituída uma relação de emprego e o desenvolvimento do vínculo empregatício mediante preenchimento de requisitos, para então comparar a relação trabalhista existente no cenário do esporte eletrônico com a relação de emprego estabelecida no sistema brasileiro. Serão relatados os tipos de contratos utilizados para a contratação dos atletas profissionais, expondo a precariedade da segurança jurídica trabalhista por não constituírem um contrato que estabeleça a relação correta de emprego nos termos trabalhistas brasileiros. Por fim, relatando a situação atual do meio profissional do esporte eletrônico, exaltando as bases para uma regulamentação correta, além de citar projetos de lei que buscam aumentar a segurança jurídico trabalhista dessa categoria esportiva recente

L’ALM : mort et résurrection d’un atlas linguistique de la culture méditerranéenne

Conçu en 1937 par le romaniste croate Mirko Deanović et dirigé par lui-même et l’italien Gianfranco Folena, l’Atlas linguistique de la Méditerranée a été réalisé à partir de 165 enquêtes et d’un questionnaire d’environ 850 items concernant la culture marine et maritime. Entre 1956 et 1972 il fût soumis par 31 enquêteurs à des témoins de tous les pays riverains de la Méditerranée. Tous les matériaux dialectaux avaient été déposés près de la Fondazione Giorgio Cini de Venise, qui fût également le commanditaire principal de la recherche. En 1972, un jeune chercheur turinois, Gaetano Berruto, fût chargé de la rédaction de ces matériaux, mais l’entreprise s’arrêta lorsque le rédacteur passa progressivement à d’autres obligations professionnelles et il ne fût plus remplacé. Un vrai trésor de connaissances linguistiques et ethnologiques est resté inexploité pendant cinquante ans. Finalement, en 2015 un groupe de géolinguistes de plusieurs universités italiennes a dressé un programme pour rafraîchir ces matériaux, les ranger, former une commission scientifique afin d’en vérifier les systèmes d’écriture phonétique et les rendre publiables.Conceived in 1937 by Croatian Romanist Mirko Deanović and directed by Deanović himself and the Italian scholar Gianfranco Folena, between 1956 and 1972 the Linguistic Atlas of the Mediterranean carried out 165 surveys by means of a questionnaire made up of about 850 items on sea and maritime culture. The surveys involved 31 researchers who interviewed people from all the countries on the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. All the dialectal data were then sent to and filed at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice which was the first to commission the survey. In 1972, Gaetano Berruto, a young researcher form Turin, was entrusted with the editing of such data, but the study soon stopped since Berruto began to be engaged in different other work duties and was never replaced. A real ethnological and linguistic treasure remained untapped and unexplored for fifty years; finally in 2015 a team of geo-linguists coming from several Italian universities announced a programme to refresh the data, arrange them and check their phonetic notation system as preliminary steps to publish them

Atomic force microscopy investigation of the kinetic growth mechanisms of sputtered nanostructured Au film on mica: towards a nanoscale morphology control

The study of surface morphology of Au deposited on mica is crucial for the fabrication of flat Au films for applications in biological, electronic, and optical devices. The understanding of the growth mechanisms of Au on mica allows to tune the process parameters to obtain ultra-flat film as suitable platform for anchoring self-assembling monolayers, molecules, nanotubes, and nanoparticles. Furthermore, atomically flat Au substrates are ideal for imaging adsorbate layers using scanning probe microscopy techniques. The control of these mechanisms is a prerequisite for control of the film nano- and micro-structure to obtain materials with desired morphological properties. We report on an atomic force microscopy (AFM) study of the morphology evolution of Au film deposited on mica by room-temperature sputtering as a function of subsequent annealing processes. Starting from an Au continuous film on the mica substrate, the AFM technique allowed us to observe nucleation and growth of Au clusters when annealing process is performed in the 573-773 K temperature range and 900-3600 s time range. The evolution of the clusters size was quantified allowing us to evaluate the growth exponent 〈z〉 = 1.88 ± 0.06. Furthermore, we observed that the late stage of cluster growth is accompanied by the formation of circular depletion zones around the largest clusters. From the quantification of the evolution of the size of these zones, the Au surface diffusion coefficient was evaluated in D(T) = [(7.42 × 10−13) ± (5.94 × 10−14) m2/s]exp(−(0.33±0.04) eVkT). These quantitative data and their correlation with existing theoretical models elucidate the kinetic growth mechanisms of the sputtered Au on mica. As a consequence we acquired a methodology to control the morphological characteristics of the Au film simply controlling the annealing temperature and time

Carbon Quantum Dots from Lemon Waste Enable Communication among Biodevices

A bioinspired method of communication among biodevices based on fluorescent nanoparticles is herein presented. This approach does not use electromagnetic waves but rather the exchange of chemical systems—a method known as molecular communication. The example outlined was based on the fluorescence properties of carbon dots and follows a circular economy approach as the method involves preparation from the juice of lemon waste. The synthesis is herein presented, and the fluorescence properties and diffusion coefficient are evaluated. The application of carbon dots to molecular communication was studied from a theoretical point of view by numerically solving the differential equation that governs the phenomenon. The theoretical results were used to develop a prototype molecular communication platform that enables the communication of simple messages via aqueous fluids to a fluorescence-detecting biodevice receiver
