Finite temperature phase diagram of spin-1/2 bosons in two-dimensional optical lattice
We study a two-species bosonic Hubbard model on a two-dimensional square
lattice by means of quantum Monte Carlo simulations and focus on finite
temperature effects. We show in two different cases, ferro- and
antiferromagnetic spin-spin interactions, that the phase diagram is composed of
solid Mott phases, liquid phases and superfluid phases. In the
antiferromagnetic case, the superfluid (SF) is polarized while the Mott
insulator (MI) and normal Bose liquid (NBL) phases are not. On the other hand,
in the ferromagnetic case, none of the phases is polarized. The
superfluid-liquid transition is of the Berezinsky-Kosterlitz-Thouless type
whereas the solid-liquid passage is a crossover.Comment: 9 pages, 13 figure
Peran Desentralisasi Fiskal Terhadap Kinerja Ekonomi Di Kabupaten/kota Provinsi Jawa Tengah
This research is intended to examine the influence of fiscal decentralization on economic growth, poverty, employment, and welfare at regencies/municipalities level in Central Java Province. Research population consist of 29 regencies and 6 municipalities, employing secondary data from Central Bureau of Statistic of Central Java Province and regencies/municipalities level in Central Java Province within the period of 2001 up to 2005. Data analysis is conducted by using path analysis with AMOS program software. The results of this study indicate that, first fiscal decentralization has a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Second, economic growth has a positive and significant effect on employment rate. Third, economic growth has a negative and significant effect on poverty. Forth, economic growth has a positive and significant effect on welfare. Fifth, employment rate has a negative and significant effect on welfare. Sixth, poverty has a negative and significant effect on welfare at regencies/municipalities level in Central Java Province
Extragalactic database. VII Reduction of astrophysical parameters
The Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic database (LEDA) gives a free access to the main
astrophysical parameters for more than 100,000 galaxies. The most common names
are compiled allowing users to recover quickly any galaxy. All these measured
astrophysical parameters are first reduced to a common system according to well
defined reduction formulae leading to mean homogeneized parameters. Further,
these parameters are also transformed into corrected parameters from widely
accepted models. For instance, raw 21-cm line widths are transformed into mean
standard widths after correction for instrumental effect and then into maximum
velocity rotation properly corrected for inclination and non-circular velocity.
This paper presents the reduction formulae for each parameter: coordinates,
morphological type and luminosity class, diameter and axis ratio, apparent
magnitude (UBV, IR, HI) and colors, maximum velocity rotation and central
velocity dispersion, radial velocity, mean surface brightness, distance modulus
and absolute magnitude, and group membership. For each of these parameters
intermediate quantities are given: galactic extinction, inclination,
K-correction etc..

High-sensitivity optical monitoring of a micro-mechanical resonator with a quantum-limited optomechanical sensor
We experimentally demonstrate the high-sensitivity optical monitoring of a
micro-mechanical resonator and its cooling by active control. Coating a
low-loss mirror upon the resonator, we have built an optomechanical sensor
based on a very high-finesse cavity (30000). We have measured the thermal noise
of the resonator with a quantum-limited sensitivity at the 10^-19 m/rootHz
level, and cooled the resonator down to 5K by a cold-damping technique.
Applications of our setup range from quantum optics experiments to the
experimental demonstration of the quantum ground state of a macroscopic

Pair formation and collapse in imbalanced Fermion populations with unequal masses
We present an exact Quantum Monte Carlo study of the effect of unequal masses
on pair formation in Fermionic systems with population imbalance loaded into
optical lattices. We have considered three forms of the attractive interaction
and find in all cases that the system is unstable and collapses as the mass
difference increases and that the ground state becomes an inhomogeneous
collapsed state. We also address the question of canonical vs grand canonical
ensemble and its role, if any, in stabilizing certain phases
A Reanalysis of theUltraviolet Extinction from Interstellar Dust in the Large Magellanic Cloud
We have reanalyzed the Large Magellanic Cloud's (LMC) ultraviolet (UV)
extinction using data from the IUE final archive. Our new analysis takes
advantage of the improved signal--to--noise of the IUE NEWSIPS reduction, the
exclusion of stars with very low reddening, the careful selection of well
matched comparison stars, and an analysis of the effects of Galactic foreground
dust. Differences between the average extinction curves of the 30 Dor region
and the rest of the LMC are reduced compared to previous studies. We find that
there is a group of stars with very weak 2175 Ang. bumps that lie in or near
the region occupied by the supergiant shell, LMC 2, on the southeast side of 30
Dor. The average extinction curves inside and outside LMC 2 show a very
significant difference in 2175 Ang. bump strength, but their far--UV
extinctions are similar. While it is unclear whether or not the extinction
outside the LMC 2 region can be fit with the relation of Cardelli, Clayton and
Mathis (CCM), sightlines near LMC 2 cannot be fit with CCM due to their weak
2175 Ang. bumps. While the extinction properties seen in the LMC lie within the
range of properties seen in the Galaxy, the correlations of UV extinction
properties with environment seen in the Galaxy do not appear to hold in the
