    Ethical Leadership in English Language Education

    The objectives of this research were (1) to find out current leaders' perspectives of ethical leadership, and (2) to find out leaders' responses to the characteristics of ethical leadership in English language education setting. This an in-depth qualitative study of three leaders employed semi-structured interviews. The data on ethical leadership were analyzed using thematic approach. The results of the research showed that: (1) ethical leadership was concerned with underpinning beliefs that drives the leadership; (2) the key characteristics of ethical leadership were the integrated realization of values, ideology and philosophy within practices. The implication of this research was that leaders within similar contexts can learn and benefit from this study and guide them through their practice

    THE IMPACT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ON EFL TEACHING IN INDONESIA

    This study observes the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on English as a foreign language (EFL) teaching in secondary school focuses on the culture of teachers in Indonesia in 2007 - 2012. Through an observation on the ICT program in teaching English in Indonesia and an analysis of the theory of the culture of teaching, it evidences that the application of ICT in teaching EFL has influenced the teachers’ cultures at schools. It confirms that the use of the internet and World Wide Web as well as social media has strengthened the four culture of teaching in Indonesia; either individualism, balkanization, collaborative, or contrive collegiality. It changes the way of teachers plan teaching materials, perform their teaching in class, and the way they interact with other teachers and students. However, some challenges facing ICT in Indonesia should be solved. Through this analysis, conclusion and some recommendation are presented at the end of this report

    Internationalization Awareness and Commitment of Indonesian Higher Education

    This paper aims to explore internationalization awareness and commitment of higher education in Indonesia. Since there are no publications on internationalization awareness and commitment for Indonesian higher education, this paper fills this gap. This qualitative case study involved 15 lecturers from an Indonesian university. This study used semi-structured interviews and data from the interviews were analyzed thematically. The research findings reveal that the internationalization of curriculum indicates awareness of internationalization by inviting experts and adapting curricula from developed countries. In addition, the commitment of internationalization was marked by the increasing quantity of international publications and collaboration with domestic and global agencies. The internationalization process faces both cultural and practical constraints. The finding suggests that there should be more elements of internationalization to indicate the preparation and the implementation of internationalizatio

    The socio-cultural learning in an Indonesian polytechnic

    Absract: Research on the socio-cultural has been conducted extensively in higher education in western contexts. However, few studies have been focused on learning in vocational higher education in Indonesia. This paper aims to address this knowledge gap. This is an in-depth descriptive qualitative study of six lecturers in an Indonesian polytechnic using semi-structure interviews. The finding reveals that there is an integrated socio-cultural learning cycle applied by lecturers in this polytechnic. This research suggests that theoretical, observational, and practised-based learning are implemented as a learning-continuum, rather than a separate cycle of learning. This finding provides a unique contribution to the debates on socio cultural learning cycle both locally and globally

    Pengaruh Polivinil Pirolidon Terhadap Laju Disolusi Furosemid Dalam Sistem Dispersi Padat

    The research to accelerate furosemide dissolution rate has been done through physical property modification by solid dispersion forming polyvinylpyrolidone (PVP) carrier with solvent method. Pure furosemide posses property of being practically insoluble in water and has low bioavailability. In current research, six weight ratio of furosemide to PVP being used are 1:1; 1:3; 1:5; 1:9 and 1:15. Physical mixtures are made in equivalent weight ratio. The dissolution rate was examined by paddle method in phosphat buffer pH 5,8. Solid dispersion caracterised with in vitro dissolution study, X-ray diffraction, infra red spectrophotometer and differential scanning calorimetric. The result shows that solid dispersion of furosemide with PVP carrier is higher compare to physical mixture dissolution rate and pure furosemide. The ratio furosemide to PVP who has the highest dissolution rate is 1:15. The analyzing shows the existing of altering crystalline to amorphous state

    This paper aims to explore collaborative culture in three polytechnics in South Sulawesi. This study applied an interpretive qualitative case study of nine English lecturers using interviews, documents and observations. Drawing from Hargreaves and Fullan’s (2012) collaborative cultural concept, this study finds that contrived collegiality is more dominance rather than genuine collaborative learning culture. This finding suggests that collaborative culture is structured formally and bureaucratically. This impact on the way lecturers perform their teaching, norms and their values
