    Perceptions about performance assessments

    This research was aimed at finding out how Performance Assessments were implemented in English speaking classes and what difficulties were faced by the teachers in doing them. The sample for this research was all the English teachers at SMAN 3 Banda Aceh. The research design for this study included observations of actions in the classroom during the learning process and also interviews with the teachers outside of the classroom. The instruments used to collect data were an interview guide and the observation sheets. The researcher interviewed the teachers about their perceptions towards the implementation of Performance Assessments and what difficulties they faced in doing them. Observations were made in the four English classes of the tenth and eleventh grades and one interview meeting was held with each teacher. In addition, the researcher recorded and took pictures of the teaching-learning processes in the classroom, and also collected the lesson plans to get more detailed information about the learning materials and assessments. Based on the research results, all of the English teachers at SMAN 3 Banda Aceh, as the sample for the study, were not familiar with the term Performance Assessments, but they recognized the characteristics of Project Assessment or Practical Assessment which they already applied occasionally. They also recognized that Performance Assessments could provide them with a more enthusiastic atmosphere for learning. Even so, such assessments were not favoured by the teachers due to their complexity and the many aspects of scoring required for one form of learning

    PEMBERIAN TUGAS TERSTRUKTUR UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR MATEMATIKA SISWA KELAS XI SMK

    Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi pemberian tugas terstruktur dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa sekolah kejuruan pada materi logaritma, semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 13 siswa kelas XI SMK Keperawatan Dr Wahidin Makassar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus; masing-masing siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, evaluasi, dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes hasil belajar dan observasi kelas. Hasil tes menampilkan data kuantitatif, sedangkan hasil observasi kelas menghasilkan data kualitatif. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pada siklus I, nilai rata-rata hasil tes siswa adalah 50. Pada siklus II, nilai rata-rata hasil tes siswa meningkat menjadi 79.62, yang mengindikasikan peningkatan hasil belajar matematika siswa. Hasil observasi menunjukkan adanya perubahan sikap siswa dalam pembelajaran ke arah yang lebih baik, khususnya dalam hal keaktifan dalam mengikuti kegiatan belajar mengajar yang meningkat dari siklus I ke siklus II. Pada kondisi tertentu Candida albicans dapat menginfeksi rongga mulut yang menyebabkan kandidiasis oral. Rumput laut Gracilaria verrucosa adalah salah satu tanaman herbal yang mengandung senyawa antijamur seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid, dan triterpenoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi daya interaksi ekstrak rumput laut Gracilaria verrucosa terhadap Candida albicans. Ekstrak Gracilaria verrucosa dengan konsentrasi 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 12,5%, dan 6,25% dibuat dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Uji daya interaksi menggunakan metode Microplate dengan ELISA reader pada panjang gelombang 560 nm. Pada kelompok perlakuan ditemukan pada konsentrasi 100% dengan waktu inkubasi 24 jam yang menunjukkan daya interaksi yang kuat, sedangkan pada waktu inkubasi 48 jam dan 72 jam menunjukkan hasil daya interaksi yang kuat pada semua konsentrasi. Secara umum dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin lama waktu kontak yang diberikan maka semakin kuat daya interaksi ekstrak rumput laut Gracilaria verrucosa terhadap Candida albicans.Kata Kunci : Candida albicans, rumput laut Gracilaria verrucosa, uji daya interaksi?ABSTRACTName: RoslinaFaculty: DentistryStudy Programme: DentistryTittle: Candida albicans is a normal microflora of the oral cavity. In certain conditions Candida albicans can infect the oral cavity that causes oral candidiasis. Gracilaria verrucosa seaweed is one of the herbs that contain antifungal compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and triterpenoids. The aim of this study was to determine the potential ability of Gracilaria verrucosa seaweed extract interaction with Candida albicans. Gracilaria verrucosa extract with concentration of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 12,5%, and 6,25% was prepared by maceration method using ethanol solution 96%. Interaction ability test using Microplate method with ELISA reader at 560 nm wavelength. In the treatment group was found at 100% concentration with a 24 hour incubation time which showed strong interaction ability, while a 48 and 72 hours incubation time showed strong interaction ability at all concentrations.     An Analysis of English for Young Learner Teachers’ Classroom Management

    This current study was a case study that aimed to analyze EYL teachers' classroom management performance at Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Likewise, this study also explored the root problem behind its' limitation. As part of the methodology, five teachers were involved in the observation. All the instrument components were validated throughout the SPSS Program analysis. After the instrument was validated, the classroom interaction process was observed and recorded three times. In addition, the interview session was also gained to ensure the observation result. All the data were analyzed descriptively. The data analysis showed that the EYL teachers in Kolaka Regency had attempted effective planning, teaching technique, and student/teacher relationship simultaneously but not comprehensively. The study also found that the EYL teachers at Kolaka Regency knew the meaning of pedagogic competence as the upstream of classroom management and the effort to implement it. However, they may not be optimal due to their teaching qualities ability. Therefore, the study recommended that there must be much appreciation for EYL teachers. The study also suggested accomplishing a similar study in a larger context to support the EYL teacher's welfare policy

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan dan gaya komunikasi terhadap kepuasan kerja serta dampaknya pada loyalitas peawai Dinas Perkebunan Aceh. Objek penelitian berkaitan dengan gaya kepemimpinan, gaya komunikasi, kepuasan kerja, serta loyalitas pegawai Dinas Perkebunan Aceh dan yang menjadi sampel penelitian sebanyak 142 orang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan variabel gaya kepemimpinan dan gaya komunikasi berpengaruh signifikan secara simultan maupun parsial terhadap kepuasan kerja. Variabel gaya kepemimpinan, gaya komunikasi, dan kepuasan kerja juga berpengaruh signifikan secara simultan terhadap loyalitas pegawai Dinas Perkebunan Aceh. Secara parsial hanya gaya komunikasi dan kepuasan kerja yang berpengaruh signifikan terhadap loyalitas pegawai, sedangkan gaya kepemimpinan tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap loyalitas pegawai. Berdasarkan analisis jalur, gaya kepemimpinan dapat mempengaruhi loyalitas pegawai secara tidak langsung melalui peran atau dukungan kepuasan kerja. Demikian juga variabel gaya komunikasi dapat mempengaruhi loyalitas pegawai secara tidak langsung melalui peran kepuasan kerja. Ini menunjukkan bahwa untuk meningkatkan loyalitas pegawai dapat dilakukan dengan peningkatan gaya kepemimpinan dan gaya komunikasi secara bersama maupun melalui kepuasan kerja

    The Effect of Using Drama Technique on the First Grade Students’ Self-Esteem and Their Speaking Ability At SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Pekanbaru

    The purpose of this research is to find the influence of Drama technique on students' self-esteem and speaking ability at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Pekanbaru and to find out whether the use of Drama Techniques has a significant impact on self-esteem and their speaking skills at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Pekanbaru. This study is quasi-experimental in which pre-test and post-test were used. The sample of this research is the first-grade students at SMK Muhammadiyah Pekanbaru, where students are divided into two groups namely class X TKJ 2 (Computer Network Engineering,) as the experimental group and X TKJ 1 (Computer Network Engineering) as a supervision group which consists of 70 students. Data were collected using students’ sound recordings and self-esteem questionnaires. Drama Techniques are used in this research as an action (treatment). The results of this study show that. 1. There is a significant influence on the implementation of Drama Technique on students' self-esteem for the experimental group. The result of the t-test is 0.131 and the df is 56, by comparing the number of cycles. If the probability > 0.05, hypothesis 0 (H0) is rejected if probability < 0.05 the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Because the significance of 0.000 <0.05, Ha is accepted while H0 is rejected. 2. There is a significant influence on the implementation of Drama technique on students' speaking ability for the experimental group. The t-test result is 4.259, the definition is 56, by comparing the number of cycles. Since the number of cycles is 0.000 < 0.05, Ha is accepted while Ho is rejected.     Genetic Based EFL Classroom Management

    This article was inspired by Jamil Pooniran's concept of STIFIn genetic intelligence and language learning methodology, especially regarding classroom management. All of these inspirations became the author's reference for pursuing his mind in building a genetic-based EFL classroom management concept. This article was not based on empirical data. Still, it was built and constructed from the previous concept, namely the STIFIn concept of genetic intelligence, which was synthesized into a genetic-based class management concept for the EFL class. This study aimed to determine how to apply the concept of genetic-based classroom management to the EFL class. Based on the STIFIn concept of genetic intelligence, the authors formulated a genetic-based classroom management concept for EFL classes adapted for EFL students' five types of machine intelligence. In summary, the author concluded that the genetic-based classroom management concept for the EFL class could be applied to the three managerial class phases, namely involving stage and using calibration at the evaluation stage
