Cultura organizacional, inovação e gestão ambiental: integrando conceitos para a edificação de organizações sustentáveis

The main purpose of this article is to relate two among the most important themes of the current organizational dynamic: organizational culture, innovation and environmental management. Great part of the literature about environmental management and environmental innovation refers to organizational culture as the most arduous wall or the most significant element to develop effective practices of business environmental management. However, relationship among such concepts is, many times, superficial or camouflaging the necessary analytic depth. To solve this challenge, this article integrates the levels of the organizational culture (workmanships, values and presupposed unconscious), the typologies of environmental innovation (total productivity of resources, innovations for the segregation of materials and articulation of bio-systems), and the environmental technologies (end-of-pipe, environmental measurement, pollution prevention and zero-impact technology). Recommendations and challenges for the continuity of this research are registered.O objetivo deste artigo é relacionar alguns dentre os mais importantes temas do atual contexto organizacional: cultura organizacional, inovação e gestão ambiental. Grande parte da literatura que versa sobre gestão ambiental e sobre inovação ambiental atribui à cultura organizacional a mais árdua barreira ou o mais significativo dos facilitadores para que uma organização desenvolva práticas efetivas de gestão ambiental. Entretanto, relacionamento entre tais conceitos é, muitas vezes, tratado de forma superficial ou camuflando-se a densidade analítica necessária para se refletir de forma integrada sobre cultura organizacional e inovações ambientais. Para fazer frente a esse desafio, este artigo integra os níveis da cultura organizacional (artefatos, valores e pressupostos inconscientes) às tipologias de inovação ambiental (produtividade total de recursos, inovações para a segregação de materiais e articulação de bio-sistemas) e às tecnologias orientadas à gestão ambiental (final-de-processo, mensuração ambiental, prevenção da poluição e tecnologia isenta de impactos). Use of scrap tire rubber in place of SBS in modified asphalt as an environmentally correct alternative for Brazil

Reusing scrap tires has become a worldwide challenge, especially due to the great difficulty in finding ecologically and economically feasible ways to dispose of them. This has led to the creation of specific programs and legislation for reusing scrap tires. Research has shown that a certain percentage of scrap tire rubber can be added to asphalt compositions, and this has become a worldwide practice. This paper describes the properties of four asphalt compositions modified with scrap tire rubber (STR) prepared in the laboratory. These properties are then compared with those of asphalt modified with styrene butadiene styrene (SBS), a synthetic polymer and one of the most common modifiers, to verify the feasibility of using scrap tire rubber as a substitute for SBS. The scope of this study does not include an analysis of how STR affects end-of-life asphalt. The main findings indicate that STR is a potential substitute of SBS in paving material, and although it does not meet some of the standard specifications when compared with SBS, these issues can be overcome by proper care during storage and transportation. The substitution of SBS by STR also showed the potential for about 10% in expenditure savings. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

Casa de ferreiro, espeto é de pau: gestão de recursos hídricos em duas organizações universitárias

As water is essential for human survival and university organizations are responsible for spreading new knowledge and values through teaching, research and extension, this paper examined how two university organizations deal with a most precious resources, the Water, through its environmental management activities. To communicate the survey, this article is structured in three parts: the first is a brief reflection on environmental management in the university hospitals and the issue of water resources, then presents the methodological procedures for the conduct of research. Finally, we present the empirical evidence from case studies and discussions relevant to the research, followed by proposals on best practices in managing water resources that universities could adopt under review. It can be concluded that the possession of knowledge and cutting-edge research in several areas that universities do not provide an exemplary way to manage their water resources, ie, isolated and fragmented initiatives of Colleges ALPHA and BETA do not guarantee the environmental sustainability of campus, a As one can see that the units are not achieving academic success in the overflow of its knowledge and research for an effective internal environmental management, especially its water resources.Como a água é essencial para a sobrevivência humana e as organizações universitárias são responsáveis por disseminar novos conhecimentos e valores, por meio das atividades de ensino, pesquisa e extensão, este trabalho procurou verificar como duas organizações universitárias lidam com um dos recursos mais preciosos, os hídricos, por meio de suas atividades de gestão ambiental. Para comunicar a pesquisa realizada, este artigo estrutura-se em três partes: na primeira é apresentada uma breve reflexão sobre a gestão ambiental em unidades universitárias e a questão dos recursos hídricos; posteriormente, apresentam-se os procedimentos metodológicos adotados para a condução da pesquisa. Por fim, são apresentadas as evidências empíricas do estudo de casos, bem como as discussões pertinentes à pesquisa, seguidas de propostas sobre melhores práticas de gestão de recursos hídricos que as universidades sob análise poderiam adotar. Pode-se concluir que a posse de conhecimentos e pesquisas de ponta em diversas áreas não garantem que as universidades gerenciem de forma exemplar seus recursos hídricos, isto é, iniciativas isoladas e fragmentadas das Faculdades ALFA e BETA não garantem a sustentabilidade ambiental dos campus, uma vez que percebe-se que as unidades universitárias não vêm logrando êxito no transbordamento de seus conhecimentos e pesquisas para uma efetiva gestão ambiental interna, principalmente de seus recursos hídricos

EDUCAÇÃO FINANCEIRA E AMBIENTAL EM ESCOLAS PÚBLICAS DE PALMEIRA DAS MISSÕES (RS): AÇÕES CIDADÃS COM VISTAS AO DESENVOLVIMENTO SOCIAL

O presente estudo busca descrever e analisar as ações de extensão do Núcleo de Pesquisa e Extensão em Agronegócios (NPEAGRO) realizadas no município de Palmeira das Missões (RS). As ações foram realizadas junto a duas escolas públicas do município, com turmas de alunos do 6º e 7º ano. Para a execução das ações educativas, foram realizadas palestras, oficinas e jogos interativos envolvendo as temáticas ambientais e financeiras. Para tanto, formou-se uma equipe de trabalho multidisciplinar, com profissionais e estudantes das áreas de Economia, Administração, Ciências Biológicas e Zootecnia. O programa de extensão descrito contou com a participação de cerca de 80 alunos do ensino básico, além de professores e servidores interessados nas discussões sobre ambiente e sociedade
