The nmain challenge for later generations involves the use of the old forms as groundwork for new creativity without loosing its essence. Most importantly, the legacies of traditional dance have continued to exist given continuous innovation and creativity, to which impart pride and identity to its creator and nation. The endless reinterpretations would uphold the tradition further in accordance to the spirit of the present time

    On January 25 and 26, 1991 in Eugene, Oregon, approximately 200 people attended an unprecedented state-wide training event.The purpose of the gathering was to discuss and debate the question: How best to promote/increase the participation of youth in Oregon\u27s decision-making activities throughout Oregon. By design, the conference was an accredited college course, offered by the University of Oregon for approximately 100 of its graduate/undergraduate students. Other attendees were adults and youth affiliated with a variety of Oregon\u27s youth agencies

    Delta isobar masses, large N_c relations, and the quark model

    Motivated by recent remarks on the Delta+ mass and comparisons between the quark model and relations based on large-N_c with perturbative flavor breaking, two sets of Delta masses consistent with these constraints are constructed. These two sets, based either on an experimentally determined mass splitting or a quark model of isospin symmetry breaking, are shown to be inconsistent. The model dependence of this inconsistency is examined, and suggestions for improved experiments are made. An explicit quark model calculation and mass relations based on the large-N_c limit with perturbative flavor breaking are compared. The expected level of accuracy of such relations is realized in the quark model, except for mass relations spanning more than one SU(6) representation. It is shown that the Delta0 and Delta++ pole masses and Delta0 - Delta+ = (Delta- - Delta++)/3 about 1.5 MeV are more consistent with model expectations than the analogous Breit-Wigner masses and their splittings.Comment: 10 pages, including 1 eps figure, revte

    Modeling of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Volume Changes during CT-Based Image Guided Radiotherapy: Patterns Observed and Clinical Implications

    Background. To characterize the lung tumor volume response during conventional and hypofractionated radiotherapy (RT) based on diagnostic quality CT images prior to each treatment fraction. Methods. Out of 26 consecutive patients who had received CT-on-rails IGRT to the lung from 2004 to 2008, 18 were selected because they had lung lesions that could be easily distinguished. The time course of the tumor volume for each patient was individually analyzed using a computer program. Results. The model fits of group L (conventional fractionation) patients were very close to experimental data, with a median Δ% (average percent difference between data and fit) of 5.1% (range 3.5–10.2%). The fits obtained in group S (hypofractionation) patients were generally good, with a median Δ% of 7.2% (range 3.7–23.9%) for the best fitting model. Four types of tumor responses were observed—Type A: “high� kill and “slow� dying rate; Type B: “high� kill and “fast� dying rate; Type C: “low� kill and “slow� dying rate; and Type D: “low� kill and “fast� dying rate. Conclusions. The models used in this study performed well in fitting the available dataset.     Discovery of the Transiting Planet Kepler-5B

    We present 44 days of high duty cycle, ultra precise photometry of the 13th magnitude star Kepler-5 (KIC 8191672, T(eff) = 6300 K, log g = 4.1), which exhibits periodic transits with a depth of 0.7%. Detailed modeling of the transit is consistent with a planetary companion with an orbital period of 3.548460 +/- 0.000032 days and a radius of 1.431(-0.052)(+0.041) R(J). Follow-up radial velocity measurements with the Keck HIRES spectrograph on nine separate nights demonstrate that the planet is more than twice as massive as Jupiter with a mass of 2.114(-0.059)(+0.056) M(J) and a mean density of 0.894 +/- 0.079 g cm(-3).NASA's Science Mission DirectorateAstronom

    Transit Timing Observations from Kepler: III. Confirmation of 4 Multiple Planet Systems by a Fourier-Domain Study of Anti-correlated Transit Timing Variations

    We present a method to confirm the planetary nature of objects in systems with multiple transiting exoplanet candidates. This method involves a Fourier-Domain analysis of the deviations in the transit times from a constant period that result from dynamical interactions within the system. The combination of observed anti-correlations in the transit times and mass constraints from dynamical stability allow us to claim the discovery of four planetary systems Kepler-25, Kepler-26, Kepler-27, and Kepler-28, containing eight planets and one additional planet candidate.Comment: Accepted to MNRA

    CRT-100.12 Risk of Bleeding Among Cangrelor-Treated Patients Administered Upstream P2Y12 Inhibitor Therapy

    Introduction: Little is known about the use of cangrelor in patients with MI who are treated with an oral P2Y12 inhibitor upstream prior to cardiac catheterization. Methods: CAMEO (Cangrelor in Acute MI: Effectiveness and Outcomes) is a 12-hospital observational registry studying platelet inhibition for MI patients undergoing cardiac cath. Upstream oral P2Y12 inhibition was defined as receipt of an oral P2Y12 inhibitor within 24 hours prior to hospitalization or in-hospital prior to cath. Among cangrelor-treated patients, we compared bleeding after cangrelor use through 7 days post-discharge between patients with and w/o upstream oral P2Y12 inhibitor exposure using logistic regression. We examined rates of bleeding among patients with a shorter (\u3c1 hour) vs. longer (1-3 hours or \u3e3 hours) duration between the last oral dose and cangrelor start. Results: Among 1,775 cangrelor-treated MI patients, 433 (24.4%) had upstream oral P2Y12 inhibitor treatment prior to cath. Of these, 165 patients (38%) started cangrelor within 1 hour, 109 (25%) between 1-3 hours, and 134 (31%) \u3e 3 hours after the in-hospital oral P2Y12 inhibitor dose. Cangrelor-treated patients who received upstream treatment were more likely to have a history of prior PCI, MI, PAD, and diabetes and to be clopidogrel-treated (all p\u3c0.01) compared w/o upstream treatment. There was no significant difference in risk of bleeding among cangrelor-treated patients with and w/o upstream oral P2Y12 inhibitor exposure (Table). While bleeding events were higher in patients with longer delays to cangrelor initiation, bleeding risk was not significant after adjustment (Table). Conclusions: Bleeding risk was not observed to be higher in cangrelor-treated patients after upstream oral P2Y12 inhibitor exposure compared with patients treated with cangrelor w/o upstream oral P2Y12 inhibitor exposure
