The high-temperature expansion of the classical Ising model with S_z^2 term
We derive the high-temperature expansion of the Helmholtz free energy up to
the order \beta^{17} of the one-dimensional spin-S Ising model, with single-ion
anisotropy term, in the presence of a longitudinal magnetic field. We show that
the values of some thermodynamical functions for the ferromagnetic models, in
the presence of a weak magnetic field, are not small corrections to their
values with h=0. This model with S=3 was applied by Kishine et al. [J.-i.
Kishine et al., Phys. Rev. B, 2006, 74, 224419] to analyze experimental data of
the single-chain magnet [Mn (saltmen)]_2 [Ni(pac)_2 (py)_2] (PF_6)_2 for T<40
K. We show that for T<35 K the thermodynamic functions of the large-spin limit
model are poor approximations to their analogous spin-3 functions.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure
College of Education Graduate Tracer Study (GTS): Boon or Bane?
This study traced the employment profile of Cebu Technological University, Main Campus-College of Education (CTU MC CoE) graduates, from 2005-2009. Mix methods of descriptive survey method and thematic analysis were used to trace their status of employment, with the use of questionnaire and personal interviews. Data were analyzed of simple percentages and chi-square for significance of relationship. Illuminating were extrapolated and numbered. It aimed to: ascertain the profile of graduates; determine a relationship between their present occupation and the course they finished; and identify the cooperating industries/institution that employed BEEd and BSEd graduates. The CTU MC CoE graduates were proven to proficient and competent to be employable in the government schools as revealed in the 7 illuminating themes, thus resulted in boon opportunities. High school teachers predominate on the track than the elementary teachers with a negligible difference. The CTU mandate, as cascaded in its vision-mission, prepared graduates for the field of work, with personality that matters compared than other predetermined factors. Academic preparation and career performance exhibited signification of successful teaching employment in the public school
Spectroscopic characterization of X-ray emitting young stars associated with the Sh 2-296 nebula
We studied a sample of stars associated with the Sh 2-296 nebula, part of the
reflection nebulae complex in the region of Canis Major (CMa R1). Our sample
corresponds to optical counterparts of X-ray sources detected from observations
with the XMM-Newton satellite, which revealed dozens of possible low-mass young
stars not yet known in this region.
A sample of 58 young star candidates were selected based on optical spectral
features, mainly H{\alpha} and lithium lines, observed with multi-objects
spectroscopy performed by the Gemini South telescope. Among the candidates, we
find 41 confirmed T Tauri and 15 very likely young stars. Based on the
H{\alpha} emission, the T Tauri stars were distinguished between classical
(17%) and weak-lined (83%), but no significant difference was found in the age
and mass distribution of these two classes.
The characterization of the sample was complemented by near- and mid-infrared
data, providing an estimate of ages and masses from the comparison with
pre-main-sequence evolutionary models. While half of the young stars have an
age of 1-2 Myrs or less, only a small fraction (~25%) shows evidence of IR
excess revealing the presence of circumstellar discs. This low fraction is
quite rare compared to most young star-forming regions, suggesting that some
external factor has accelerated the disc dissipation
Process Improvement Supported by the Selection of Case Tools: A Case Study
The identification and selection of Information Systems projects is an important activity in most organizations [Hoffer et al., 1999], together with the search for the tool that is best adapted to these requirements, based on the system development process efficiency and the expected effectiveness of its results [Rojas & Pérez, 1995]. Organizations also use Information Systems as a weapon against the competition, insofar as the timely implementation of an Information System could represent a strategy providing competitive advantages to said organizations [Laudon & Laudon, 1996]. Porter [Porter, 1985] stresses that there are specific activities in the company where competitive strategies could be best applied and where it is almost sure that Information Systems will have a strategic impact [Díaz et a., 1998]. According to Pressman [Pressman, 1998], in the context of software development much work has been carried out in an attempt to fulfill automation petitions for different types of software development contexts. Thus, for a long time no thought was given to the possibility of attending themselves, for instance creating supports that would automate software development work. For the purposes of enhancing productivity and software quality, it can therefore be concluded that it is increasingly necessary for analysts and developers to count on automated tools to carry out their job. This paper shows the results obtained of contrasting the analysis carried out for the selection of Case Tools
Determination Of Factors That Affect The Process Effectiveness In The Development Of Information Systems
The quality of software is a complex mix of factors (Pressmann, 93).That is why it is extremely difficult to establish a unique, generalized definition for the quality of information systems. Human and social aspects in organizations have been considered up to the present the competency of management, administration and other related areas. Programming and internal design activities are related to product efficiency: requirements analysis and external design activities are related to the effectiveness of the product, project management activities relate to the efficiency of the process and general management activities relate to process effectiveness. Faced with the scarcity of information regarding process effectiveness, the need arises to take information from topics from the field of management. Specifically, part of the topics for organizational behavior and development includes a series of components that determine human and social behavior in organizations; individual behavior, group behavior, leadership, the organizational structure and culture and problems relating to processes of change therein. An association is established for each of these components in the particular context of development of information systems
Factors Affecting Process Effectiveness in The Development Of Information Systems: A Case Study
In the framework of the concept of systemic global quality, process effectiveness, the dimension of quality in information systems, is associated to human, social and organizational aspects surrounding the development process thereof[Silva,96].The field study undertaken is of an exploratorynature and included the selection of the organization where the study is to be carried out and the set of projects to be analyzed. The set of variables to be observed was also selected and operational definitions were set forth for each one of them. Data was collected through the use of questionnaires, interviews and group discussions. Finally, the data collected was analyzed combining descriptive statistical methods and qualitative-type analyse
Method For Determining The Level Of MaturityIn An Organization: An Adaptation To The Oil Sector
This paper offers a method that will serve as a guide to evaluate the level of maturity of informatics organizations in Venezuela. For this purpose, the tool used by the SEI was adapted to the real-life situations in systems development companies in Venezuela, specifically to those with an internal systems development department, such as in the case of the oil industry. An algorithm for the interpretation of the results was likewise defined in order to place the organization in a specific level of maturit
