El puente Striatus es un ejemplo único de cómo la geometría influye de manera decisiva en los esfuerzos de una estructura. En este caso, merced al diseño, se logra que el tablero del puente soporte únicamente esfuerzos de compresión pura. Esto permite su construcción mediante hormigón en masa, al no necesitar refuerzos metálicos, típicamente encargados de absorber la tracción en el hormigón armado. A su vez, este hecho permite emplear hormigón impreso en 3D, minimizando el impacto ambiental de la construcción y el coste de los materiales.<br /

Africanized honeybee population (Apis mellifera L.) in Nicaragua: Forewing length and mitotype lineages

Various subspecies of Apis mellifera L. were introduced to Central America since colonization 500 years ago. Hybridization increased with the entrance of the Africanized bee in Nicaragua in 1984. Rustic beekeeping activities and numerous feral swarms define the genetic pattern, reflected in phenotypic heterogeneity and remarkable differences in the behaviour of the bee colonies, especially the nest defence. Due to these facts, the question emerge about the degree of Africanization of honeybee colonies in Nicaragua. In this study, we identified Africanized honeybee colonies based on the single character "mean forewing length"and we corroborated our results by determining mitotypes using mtDNA analysis. Morphometric and genetic approaches were realized in three different geographical zones of Nicaragua and related to beehive characteristics and management. Worker bee samples were taken from the inside of 146 hives from 26 apiaries. Abdominal colour as phenotypic character was the first examination, followed by measurement of 1460 right forewings to determine corresponding probability of Africanization. More than 60% of the beehives showed phenotypic heterogeneity and mean forewing length of 8.74 mm (SD 0.16 mm) indicated a high degree of Africanization. Those results provided a selection of 96 worker bees to perform PCR of two worker bees per hive. For mitochondrial DNA analysis 14 samples from sentinel apiaries were added. Three from 61 beehives presented bees with different mtDNA. Throughout, three mitotypes of the African (A) lineage were detected; one mitotype is still unidentified. Mitotype A1 A. mellifera iberiensis was represented by 88 bees and mitotype A4 A. mellifera scutellata by 21 bees. Phylogenetic analysis confirmed the PCR findings. No associations were found between mitotypes, forewing length, beehive characteristics and management. A high degree of Africanization in A. mellifera colonies represented by two predominating mitotypes from the A lineage, prevail in Neotropical Nicaragua, with mitotype A4 predominating at higher altitudes.Fil: Düttmann, Christiane. LiDAR design for road condition measurement ahead of a moving vehicle

2017 IEEE SensorsIn this paper we present the design and the first results of a prototype road condition sensor based on diffuse reflectance spectroscopy in the near infrared using semiconductor lasers. Examen integrador de pediatría (EIP). Presentación de una experiencia.

Learning assessment is a fundamental part of the medical residency system and includes theoretical and practical aspects and academic performance. A formative evaluation tool was designed with the purpose of guiding the learning process and achieving a uniform level of performance in pediatricians trained in the GCBA system (Government of the City of Buenos Aires). The exam consisted of a multiple-choice test made up of 100 questions in which 72 residents participated. 58% of the participants achieved the established cut-off point. This survey gave us information about the areas in which residents faced the greatest difficulties. It could be a complementary tool to continuously improve the residency training program and ensure quality pediatric care.La evaluación del aprendizaje es parte fundamental del sistema de residencias médicas e incluye aspectos teóricos, prácticos y desempeño académico. Se diseñó una herramienta de evaluación formativa con el propósito de orientar el proceso de aprendizaje y lograr un nivel uniforme de desempeño en los pediatras formados en el sistema del GCBA (Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires). El examen consistió en una prueba de opción múltiple compuesta por 100 preguntas en el que participaron 72 residentes. El 58% de los participantes lograron el punto de corte establecido. Este examen nos brindó información acerca de cuáles son las áreas en las que los residentes enfrentaron mayores dificultades. Podría ser una herramienta complementaria para mejorar continuamente el programa de formación de la residencia y garantizar una atención pediátrica de calidad

Plan estratégico con economía circular para el sector inmobiliario de Lima Metropolitana

En el Perú existe un crecimiento sostenido en el sector inmobiliario desde el año 2008, estimándose que seguirá en auge en los próximos años, creciendo a tasas entre 9% y 10%, producto de que existe una demanda insatisfecha, siendo Lima Metropolitana una ciudad que cuenta con un 50% de déficit de viviendas. Es así como, surge la preocupación por los residuos de construcción que son conducidos a botaderos, debido a que el 98% de empresas de este sector no presentan una adecuada gestión de sus escombros, generando un impacto ambiental negativo. Razón por la que, el presente Plan Estratégico busca promover responsabilidad social a las empresas inmobiliarias, a través del Ministerio de Vivienda, Construcción y Saneamiento, planteando como visión que al año 2025, el sector inmobiliario de Lima Metropolitana será reconocido como líder en el uso de economía circular en América Latina mediante la gestión de residuos de construcción y normando la obligatoriedad del reciclaje. Esta visión se verá reforzada por los objetivos a largo plazo que tendrá el MVCS al 2025, los que buscan: normar la obligatoriedad a las inmobiliarias que reciclen sus residuos, que estas empleen un 70% de residuos reciclados del volumen total de materiales de obra, promover la creación de cinco plantas especializadas en reciclaje, establecer cinco alianzas con organizaciones internacionales especializadas en la gestión de residuos, y normar a las empresas del sector que tengan la certificación ISO 14000. Para lograr la visión y objetivos planteados al MVCS, se recurre a estudiar el entorno externo e interno de la organización, y así determinar las estrategias y políticas que debe seguir el ministerio para la implementación y control del planeamiento, asegurando la competitividad y sostenibilidad del sector en el tiempo.In Peru there is a sustained rise in real estate since 2008, and are expected to continue to rise in the coming years, growing at rates between 9% and 10%, as a result of an unmet demand, being Metropolitan Lima city which counts with a 50% of deficit in housing. As a consequence, emerge the concern about the construction waste that are given to dumps, because the 98% of the enterprises of this sector doesn't have a proper management in their rubbles, generating a negative environmental impact. For this reason, this Strategic Plan aims to promote social responsibility to the real estate companies, through the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, having as a vision that by 2025, the real estate sector of Lima will be recognized as a leader in the use of circular economy in Latin America by managing construction waste, norman the waste recycling. This vision will be enhanced by long-term goals of the MVCS in the 2025, those seeking: the obligation to regulate to the real estate recycle their waste, obligates to these to employ the 70% recycled waste of the total of materials, promotes the creation of five specialized recycling plants, establishes five partnerships with specialized international organizations in waste management, and regulates to sector companies to get the ISO 14000 certification. To achieve the vision and goals for the MVCS, it is studied the external and internal environment of the organization, and it is determined the strategies and policies to be followed by the ministry for the implementation and control of planning, ensuring the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector in the time.Tesi

Analysis of the key features of the seismic actions due to the three main earthquakes of May 11, 2011 in Lorca, Spain

The seismic records are in general valuable information, especially in cases where damage in buildings has occurred. The main purpose of the present document is to describe the principal results of the analysis of features of ground motions due to the main three earthquakes that occurred in Spain on May 11, 2011. In this day the major earthquake had a magnitude of 5.1 Mw. This event triggered different levels of damage in numerous buildings in the city of Lorca located in southern Spain. Unfortunately, 9 persons died due mainly to the collapse of non-structural elements. We describe in the present paper the application of the software Seismograms Analyzer-e (SA-e) to perform the processing and the analysis of the seismic records obtained in five stations during the main three earthquakes on May 11 (the largest earthquake of magnitude 5.1 Mw, the precursor of magnitude 4.5 Mw, and the aftershock of magnitude 3.9 Mw). We also highlight the significant similitudes between the seismograms generated in the LOR station during these three earthquakes. Additionally, we determined the values of acceleration that occurred in the roof of the buildings of Lorca, because these values of acceleration contributed both to the damage of numerous buildings and the collapse of several parapets of some buildings. The analysis of these accelerations is relevant because the collapse of some parapets was the cause of the death of the 9 people that died during the main earthquake. For example, according to our study in the roof of a building with a fundamental period of 0.25 s the acceleration could have reached values near to 1.04 g. We also analyzed the potential of damage in function of the values of CAVSTD. Additionally, we determined hypothetical seismic forces for the design of parapets in buildings of Lorca considering the NCSE-02 normative, and the values of Sa based on the seismic records. We determined a significant difference between the seismic forces that could have been used to design the parapets of the buildings in the Lorca city and the forces determined according to the values of PGA that were proposed in a recent study of seismic hazard for Spain.The first author acknowledges to CONACYT, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, and to the Universidad Veracruzana by their contribution to the development of the present study. Estrategia de intervención psicológica para modificar estilos de vidas en el adulto mayor. CMF No.40. Yara

Introduction: the ancestral human interest to live as many years as possible, along with the increasing development of science and technology, support the present trend considering that if it is important to live longer, it is also essential that all years elapse with the best quality of life possible. Objectives: to implement a strategy of psychological intervention to modify the lifestyle that favors the human aging process with quality in the elderly. Method: it was performed a study of psychological intervention in the elderly to change the lifestyle. It was applied a guide to measure the lifestyle and the psychological inventory test of Beck to measure the depression; to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy it was applied a statistical test for the difference in proportions with a significance level of 5%. Results: it was initially diagnosed an unhealthy lifestyle in both sexes, with a predominantly mild and moderate depression, at the end of the study it was modified the emotional state of patients that were located in non-depressive state. The work reflects the results of the intervention strategy, which validates the idea and demonstrates compliance with the proposed objective. Conclusions: the intervention strategy modified as elements of the lifestyle towards a good category the following variables: fitness, feeding habits, sexuality, self-care, use of leisure time and emotional state.Introducción: el ancestral interés de los humanos por vivir el mayor número de años posible, unido al creciente desarrollo de la ciencia y la técnica, sustentan la tendencia actual que considera que importante es vivir más años, es esencial que estos transcurran con la mejor calidad de vida posible. Objetivos: implementar una estrategia de intervención psicológica para modificar el estilo de vida que favorezca el proceso de envejecimiento humano con calidad en el adulto mayor. Método: se realizó un estudio de intervención psicológica en el adulto mayor para modificar el estilo de vida. Se aplicó una guía para medir el estilo de vida y el test psicológico inventario de Beck para medir depresión, para evaluar la efectividad de la estrategia se aplicó la prueba estadística para la diferencias de proporciones con un nivel de significación del 5 %. Resultados: se obtuvo como resultado que inicialmente se diagnosticó en ambos sexo un estilo de vida poco saludable, con predominio de la depresión leve y moderada, al finalizar el estudio se modificó el estado emocional de los pacientes que se ubicaron en estado no depresivo. El trabajo refleja los resultados de la estrategia de intervención, los que validan la idea a defender y demuestran el cumplimiento del objetivo propuesto en el mismo. Conclusiones: la estrategia de intervención aplicada permitió modificar como elementos del estilo de vida hacia una categoría de buena las variables: condición física, hábitos alimentarios, sexualidad, autocuidado, uso del tiempo libre y estado emocional
