Historical science and the Royal Academy during the spanish age of enlightenment: The rise of the collective author

El concepto de “autor oculto” permite acercamientos diversos, desde perspectivas que se interrogan sobre la presencia o ausencia de un autor individual en relación con su obra, hasta reflexiones sobre una autoría colectiva que se abre a múltiples modalidades de presencia del autor. Nuestra propuesta se centra en el trabajo de erudición, de crítica y de recuperación de fuentes históricas realizado en España durante el siglo xviii. Clérigos y seglares, intelectuales o simples aficionados, personalidades políticas o meros plumillas, muchos de ellos asumieron el papel de ser autores en la sombra sumándose a un esfuerzo colectivo de regeneración nacional marcado por la pugna entre tradición e innovación. Los nuevos gobernantes lideraron este programa reformista con la colaboración de ciertas instituciones creadas para impulsar el progreso y el bien común, entre ellas las Academias Reales. Destacaremos los proyectos de recopilación de fuentes históricas promovidos en el seno de la Real Academia de la Historia. Diccionarios, repertorios y colecciones instrumentales nos aproximarán a la naturaleza, justificación y logros de un modelo de autoría colectiva “semioculta”, ciertamente representativo de las prácticas culturales de la Ilustración españolaThe concept of “shadow author” enables different approaches, from perspectives which question the presence or absence of an individual author in relation with his work, to reflections on a collective authorship that allows the presence of the author in multiple forms. Our proposal focuses on the erudition work, criticism and retrieval of historical sources performed in the 18th century in Spain. Many clerics and seculars, scholars or amateurs, statesmen or mere advantaged scribblers assumed the role of shadow authors and contributed to a collective effort of national renewal featured by the struggle between tradition and innovation. The new rulers led the reformist agenda program with the collaboration of literates and of certain institutions created to foster progress and common good, among them the Royal Academies. Our work will concentrate on the projects of compilation of historical sources that were promoted within the Royal Academy of History. Design Issue of a New iCub Head Sub-System

I am presenting a new design for the head sub-system of the humanoid robot iCub. ICub is a humanoid robot platform that has been conceived as a result of the development of the European Project RobotCub. Mechanical problems of the current head sub-system of iCub robot have been studied in order to figure out improvements for a new design. The feasibility of the new design has been checked through dynamic simulations of the head operations. Antonio Panadero, Lawyer of the Royal Councils, was in Madrid at the beginning of Spanish War of Independence and took part in acts of resistance against French occupation. However, he was not a man of arms, but of pen, and to it resorted, as a way to collaborate with the new authorities represented by the “Junta Suprema Central”, sending to them from his place of residence, it is, Miguel Esteban, several writings of pedagogical and political content. The work presented here has as main goal a partial transcription of one of those texts, the one called Sistema de Educación con arreglo al de reforma de la Constitución de España.El licenciado Antonio Panadero, Abogado de los Reales Consejos, vivió en Madrid los primeros acontecimientos de la Guerra de la Independencia y participó en actos de resistencia contra la ocupación francesa. Pero él no era un hombre de armas, sino de pluma, y a ella recurrirá para colaborar con las nuevas autoridades representadas en la Junta Suprema Central, remitiéndoles desde su villa natal de Miguel Esteban, diversos escritos de contenido político y pedagógico.
