Zeta-like Multizeta Values for higher genus curves

    Get PDF
We prove or conjecture several relations between the multizeta values for positive genus function fields of class number one, focusing on the zeta-like values, namely those whose ratio with the zeta value of the same weight is rational (or conjecturally equivalently algebraic). These are the first known relations between multizetas, which are not with prime field coefficients. We seem to have one universal family. We also find that interestingly the mechanism with which the relations work is quite different from the rational function field case, raising interesting questions about the expected motivic interpretation in higher genus. We provide some data in support of the guesses.Comment: Expository revisions plus appendices containing proofs of more cases of conjecture

Special relations between multizeta values and parity results

We study relations between multizeta values for function fields introduced by D. Thakur. The F_p-span of Thakur's multizeta values is an algebra (Thakur. Shuffle relations for function field multizeta values). In particular, the product \zeta(a)\zeta(b) is a linear combination of multizeta values. In this paper, several of the conjectures formulated by the author and by D. Thakur for small values or for special families of a about how to write \zeta(a)\zeta(b) as an F_p-linear combination of multizeta values, are proved. Also, the parity conjecture formulated by Thakur is proved.Comment: 16 page

We study relations between the multizeta values for function fields introduced by D. Thakur. The product \zeta(a)\zeta(b) is a linear combination of multizeta values. For q=2, a full conjectural description of how the product of two zeta values can be described as the sum of multizetas was given by Thakur. The recursion part of this recipe was generalized by the author. In this paper, the main conjecture formulated by the author, as well as some conjectures of Thakur are proved. Moreover, for general q, we prove closed formulas as well as a recursive recipe to express \zeta(a)\zeta(b) as a sum of multizeta values.Comment: 19 page

Some conjectures and results about multizeta values for F_q[t]

In this paper, we explain several conjectures about how a product of two Carlitz-Goss zeta values can be expressed as a F_p-linear combination of Thakur's multizeta values, generalizing the q=2 case dealt by D. Thakur in Relations between multizeta values for F_q[t]. In contrast to the classical sum shuffle, \zeta(a)\zeta(b)=\zeta(a+b)+\zeta(a,b)+\zeta(b,a), the identities we get are much more involved. Hundreds of instances of these conjectures have been proved and we describe the proof method and the evidence.Comment: 10 page

Building a new recycling system : using reverse logistics models for an Ecuadorian plastics company

Worldwide, plastics are consumed on a mass scale and are the most demanded products in the market; Ecuador is not exempt from this trend. In the last years, an environmental conscience has been created about the current problems regarding plastic waste with new initiatives emerging to reuse them.

Assessment of postoperative recovery and post-penopexy return of teaser bulls to natural mounting

Objective: To assess the perineal penopexy surgical technique in the preparation of teaser bulls for the bovine industry. Design: To assess the technique, three 11-month-old Swiss-Zebu bovines, with an average weight of 280 kg, were subject to a surgical procedure. The assessed parameters were time of procedure, postoperative recovery (infectious processes), and return to normal mounting. Results: This study shows a total average time ―from the beginning of the procedure until the animal can stand― of 23.7 min, plus nine days of postoperative recovery, without infectious processes. Implications: During the postoperative process, the ring might be rejected, fibrous tissue might form as a reaction to the ring’s material, and the penis might be overexposed because of the ring’s diameter. Limitations: There might be limitations resulting from the surgeon’s experience regarding the location of the sigmoid flexure. Results: Using this technique contributes to the improvement of the teaser bull preparation protocols for bovine artificial insemination program

Altres ajuts: This work has been funded by La Fundació La Marató (Reg. 84/240 proj. 201702).Stroke is a major cause of disability and death globally, and prediction of mortality represents a crucial challenge. We aimed to identify blood biomarkers measured during acute ischemic stroke that could predict long-term mortality. Nine hundred and forty-one ischemic stroke patients were prospectively recruited in the Stroke-Chip study. Post-stroke mortality was evaluated during a median 4.8-year follow-up. A 14-biomarker panel was analyzed by immunoassays in blood samples obtained at hospital admission. Biomarkers were normalized and standardized using Z -scores. Multiple Cox regression models were used to identify clinical variables and biomarkers independently associated with long-term mortality and mortality due to stroke. In the multivariate analysis, the independent predictors of long-term mortality were age, female sex, hypertension, glycemia, and baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score. Independent blood biomarkers predictive of long-term mortality were endostatin > quartile 2, tumor necrosis factor receptor-1 (TNF-R1) > quartile 2, and interleukin (IL)-6 > quartile 2. The risk of mortality when these three biomarkers were combined increased up to 69%. The addition of the biomarkers to clinical predictors improved the discrimination (integrative discriminative improvement (IDI) 0.022 (0.007-0.048), p quartile 3 was an independent predictor of mortality due to stroke. Altogether, endostatin, TNF-R1, and IL-6 circulating levels may aid in long-term mortality prediction after stroke
