The Specification Property for -Semigroups
We study one of the strongest versions of chaos for continuous dynamical
systems, namely the specification property. We extend the definition of
specification property for operators on a Banach space to strongly continuous
one-parameter semigroups of operators, that is, -semigroups. In addition,
we study the relationships of the specification property for -semigroups
(SgSP) with other dynamical properties: mixing, Devaney's chaos, distributional
chaos and frequent hypercyclicity. Concerning the applications, we provide
several examples of semigroups which exhibit the SgSP with particular interest
on solution semigroups to certain linear PDEs, which range from the hyperbolic
heat equation to the Black-Scholes equation.Comment: 13 page
Three-dimensional microstructuring of yttrium aluminum garnet crystals for laser active optofluidic applications
The following article appeared in Applied Physics Letters 103.4 (2013): 041101 and may be found at http://scitation.aip.org/content/aip/journal/apl/103/4/10.1063/1.4816338We demonstrate three-dimensional microstructuring in a neodymium doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) crystal. Spatially well-defined hollow microstructures deeply embedded within the material are shown to result from the creation of a pre-damage state within the Nd:YAG crystal network that is validated using luminescence and Raman analyses of the structures. Several studies suggest that an increase of nocturia is seen with the onset of age, occurring in around 70% of adults over the age of 70. Its appearance is associated with detrimental quality of life for those who present nocturia, since it leads to daytime sleepiness, cognitive dysfunction, among others. Currently, a voiding diary is necessary for nocturia assessment; these are prone to bias due to their inherent subjectivity. In this paper, we present the design of a low-cost device that automatically detects micturition events. The device obtained 73% in sensibility and 81% in specificity; these results show that systems such as the proposed one can be a valuable tool for the medical team when evaluating nocturia. © 2013 IEEE.https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/845445
A novel monitoring system for fall detection in older people

Unfortunately, this can generate physical and psychological damage, especially if they live alone and they are unable to get help. In this field, several studies have been performed aiming to alert potential falls of the older people by using different types of sensors and algorithms. In this paper, we present a novel non-invasive monitoring system for fall detection in older people who live alone. Our proposal is using very-low-resolution thermal sensors for classifying a fall and then alerting to the care staff. Also, we analyze the performance of three recurrent neural networks for fall detections: Long short-term memory (LSTM), gated recurrent unit, and Bi-LSTM. As many learning algorithms, we have performed a training phase using different test subjects. After several tests, we can observe that the Bi-LSTM approach overcome the others techniques reaching a 93% of accuracy in fall detection. We believe that the bidirectional way of the Bi-LSTM algorithm gives excellent results because the use of their data is influenced by prior and new information, which compares to LSTM and GRU. Roturas agudas de L.C.A. de la rodilla: refuerzo con cordón RD.S
Se presenta la técnica de reconstrucción en las roturas agudas del L.C.A.
mediante reparación con cordón de P.D.S., así como los criterios seguidos por los autores ante
las roturas agudas de dicho ligamento. Expone una casuística de 24 intervenciones, con un
seguimiento de 1.5 años, sin haber encontrado complicaciones destacables y con un 75% de Muy
Buenos Resultados y un 25% de Buenos Resultados.The technique used in the repair of acute rupture of the ACL with a
band of PDS, together with the criteria followed by our department in such cases
both acute are decribed. The describe 24 operations performed by them, with a
follow-up of 1.5 years, with no major complications, 75% excellent results and 25%
good results
Anisotropic lattice changes in femtosecond laser inscribed Nd3+:MgO:LiNbO3 optical waveguides
We report on the fabrication and microspectroscopy imaging of femtosecond laser written
double-filament based Nd3+ :MgO:LiNbO3 optical waveguides. The waveguiding high
refractive-index regions are identified by blueshifts of the Nd3+ ion fluorescence lines with no
deterioration in the fluorescence efficiency, whereas filamentary low-index regions are identified by
both a Nd3+ line redshift and a fluorescence efficiency reduction. The lattice structural
micromodifications at the origin of both waveguide formation and Nd3+ fluorescence changes have
been investigated by means of confocal micro-Raman experiments. We have found that the direct
laser written filaments are mainly constituted by a large density of defects, together with a marked
axial compression perpendicular to the filaments �along the optical c-axis�. Conversely, the
high-index waveguiding regions are characterized by a pronounced anisotropic dilatation of the
LiNbO3 lattice xy-planes
