This paper provides an empirical analysis of the factors that affect the NFL signing bonuses for college quarterbacks. Our sample data is drawn from the official ESPN website, Spotrac, and the official NFL website for the years 2005-2016. It is composed of bonus data for college quarterbacks who were drafted into the NFL and received a signing bonus. Our explanatory variables include the quarterbacks’ total quarterback rating (QBR), height, weight, and dummy variables that control for the major conferences. We found that QBR and ratio of height to weight significantly affect signing bonuses

This article describes the development of an information literacy programme that was embedded into the Psychology curriculum during 2007-2008. The programme was a collaboration between a faculty librarian and the Department of Psychology and utilized a blended learning approach along with a variety of teaching and assessment methods. This paper also reports on the initial findings from an ongoing evaluation assessing the impact of the programme on students' learning and information skills development. There had been an acknowledgement within the Department of Psychology and at broader University level of the importance of supporting students' and graduates' employability. Indeed, when the University undertook a curriculum redesign in 2008 (known as CRe8) the University recognized that 'there are four core skills areas at the core of 'graduateness' and employability that the University expects all courses to emphasise: communication; Information literacy; Research and evaluation; and creativity and critical thinking' (University of Bedfordshire, 2009). The development and implementation of an information literacy programme was therefore aligned closely with the University's goals at that time

Chemical Compounds Related as Genus and Species and the Patentability Requirement of Novelty

The patentability of chemical compounds related as genus and species presents a problem in deciding the proper scope of patent protection granted to an inventor. Should the inventor of a genus be granted a patent covering all of the often numerous compounds which the genus might include? Should disclosure of the genus automatically eliminate a later inventor\u27s ability to patent individual members of the genus, or should a court consider genus size and similarity of structure and properties in deciding patentability of the individual species? The Court of Customs and Patent Appeals has examined some of these issues. This comment will discuss and synthesize its decisions
