The nursing team before alarm triggering in the neonatal intensive care unit

Objective: describing and discussing the conduct of nurses before the triggering of the alarms by the electrical equipment. Methods: this is a descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative analysis. Results: the professionals present a good qualification, but act in a complex scenario that requires a differentiated staffing sizing and that was not respected, a fact that may have interfered with service alarm triggered. Conclusion: given the facts above, it is perceived that the training of nursing professionals and the stimulus to updating knowledge and to the compliance with the technical and operational standards of the profession are presented as well-suited solution to the needs of the individual and the company and/or hospital unit, since the ultimate goal is to provide quality care and safety to the patient

QUANTIFICAÇÃO DE CHUMBO EM SOLOS: UM ESTUDO COMPARATIVO ENTRE ÁREAS DE FALHA GEOLÓGICA E ÁREAS RURAIS NA CIDADE DE PRESIDENTE PRUDENTE/SP

O objetivo desse trabalho foi a quantificação de Pb em amostras de solos, em áreas específicas na cidade de Presidente Prudente-SP, onde a particularidade do meio físico é o indício de uma falha geológica. Coletaram-se amostras em áreas pré-estabelecidas do Campus da FCT - UNESP, conforme dados referentes à emanação de Rn, e também perfis de solos no Distrito de Montalvão. Utilizou-se a técnica voltamétrica de redissolução anódica com eletrodo de mercúrio para a quantificação de Pb, que mostrou-se satisfatória e com baixo limite de detecção. A concentração de Pb nas amostras de solo coletadas na área rural foi cem vezes menor que na área de suposta falha geológica, gerando a hipótese de influência da emanação de Rn quanto ao teor de Pb nessas áreas. Análises granulométricas e imagens do MEV foram usadas para estudo e caracterização das amostras de solos

Objetivos: Descrever e Discutir as condutas dos profissionais de enfermagem diante dos alarmes disparados pelos equipamentos eletromédicos. Método: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, exploratório e com análise qualitativa. Resultados: Os profissionais apresentam uma boa qualificação, porém atuam num cenário complexo que exige um dimensionamento de pessoal diferenciado e que não foi respeitado, fato que pode ter interferido no atendimento ao alarme acionado. Conclusão: Diante dos fatos mencionados, percebe-se que a capacitação dos profissionais de enfermagem e o estímulo a atualização de conhecimentos e ao cumprimento das normas técnicas e operacionais da profissão, apresentam-se como solução bem adequada às necessidades do individuo e da empresa e/ou unidade hospitalar, visto que o objetivo final é a prestação de uma assistência de qualidade e a segurança do paciente

QUALIDADE DE VIDA DE IDOSOS PRATICANTES DE EXERCÍCIO FÍSICO EM ACADEMIAS AO AR LIVRE EM PARQUE A CÉU ABERTO

The objective of this study was to assess the perception of the quality of life of elderly practitioners of physical activity in outdoors academies in a park. The sample was composted by 39 elderly, divided in two groups: G1 (n=19) who was walking and G2 (n=20) that realized exercises in outdoors academies, both without supervision. The activity level was evaluated by international physical activities questionnaire IPAQ and the perception of quality of life by SF-36 questionnaire. The data analysis was executed with SPSS 22.0 program (p<0,05). There was no significant difference between the groups at comparison of general health status perception, because were presented an excellent to good health status and high score in quality life comparison. It was concluded that practice of physical exercises, both in walks or academies, result in health maintaining and quality of life for elderly people.O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar a percepção da qualidade de vida dos idosos praticantes de exercícios físicos em academias ao ar livre em um parque. A amostra foi composta por 39 idosos, divididos em dois grupos: G1 (n=19) que realizavam caminhada e G2 (n=20) que realizavam exercícios nas academias ao ar livre, ambos não supervisionados. O nível de atividade física foi avaliado pelo questionário internacional de atividade física IPAQ e a percepção da qualidade de vida pelo questionário SF-36. A análise dos dados foi realizada com o programa SPSS 22.0 (p<0,05). Não houve diferença significativa entre os grupos na comparação da percepção do estado geral de saúde, pois apresentaram um estado de saúde de excelente para boa e na comparação da qualidade de vida, alta pontuação. Concluiu-se que a prática de exercício físico, seja em academias ou caminhada, gera manutenção da saúde e qualidade de vida para idosos

Walking and postural balance in adults with severe short stature due to isolated GH deficiency

Objectives: Walking and postural balance are extremely important to obtain food and to work. Both are critical for quality of life and ability to survive. While walking reflects musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary systems, postural balance depends on body size, muscle tone, visual, vestibular and nervous systems. Since GH and IGF-I act on all these systems, we decided to study those parameters in a cohort of individuals with severe short stature due to untreated isolated GH deficiency (IGHD) caused by a mutation in the GHRH receptor gene. These IGHD subjects, despite reduction in muscle mass, are very active and have normal longevity. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, we assessed walking (by a 6-min walk test), postural balance (by force platform) and fall risk (by the 'Timed Up and Go' test) in 31 IGHD and 40 matched health controls. Results: The percentage of the walked distance measured in relation to the predicted one was similar in groups, but higher in IGHD, when corrected by the leg length. Absolute postural balance data showed similar velocity of unipodal support in the two groups, and better values, with open and closed eyes and unipodal support, in IGHD, but these differences became non-significant when corrected for height and lower-limb length. The time in 'Timed Up and Go' test was higher in IGHD cohort, but still below the cut-off value for fall risk. Conclusion: IGHD subjects exhibit satisfactory walking and postural balance, without increase in fall risk

The Brazilian Registry of Adult Patient Undergoing Cardiovascular Surgery, the BYPASS Project: Results of the First 1,722 Patients

Objective: To report the early results of the BYPASS project - the Brazilian registrY of adult Patient undergoing cArdiovaScular Surgery - a national, observational, prospective, and longitudinal follow-up registry, aiming to chart a profile of patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery in Brazil, assessing the data harvested from the initial 1,722 patients. Methods: Data collection involved institutions throughout the whole country, comprising 17 centers in 4 regions: Southeast (8), Northeast (5), South (3), and Center-West (1). The study population consists of patients over 18 years of age, and the types of operations recorded were: coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), mitral valve, aortic valve (either conventional or transcatheter), surgical correction of atrial fibrillation, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and congenital heart diseases in adults. Results: 83.1% of patients came from the public health system (SUS), 9.6% from the supplemental (private insurance) healthcare systemsand 7.3% from private (out-of-pocket) clinic. Male patients comprised 66%, 30% were diabetics, 46% had dyslipidemia, 28% previously sustained a myocardial infarction, and 9.4% underwent prior cardiovascular surgery. Patients underwent coronary artery bypass surgery were 54.1% and 31.5% to valve surgery, either isolated or combined. The overall postoperative mortality up to the 7th postoperative day was 4%for CABG was 2.6%, and for valve operations, 4.4%.
