He built the largest congregation of his brotherhood during his lifetime. He was one of the leading spokesmen of the conservative element of the Disciples during a very troubled period. Outside of church affairs he became prominent in political, governmental, chautauqua, and business circles

Through the initiative petition, the people can compel an election on the question of enacting an amendment to the Missouri Constitution or enacting a proposed law. Through the referendum petition, the people can compel an election to decide whether an existing law should be retained.     Valuing Transgenic Cotton Technologies Using a Risk/Return Framework

    Stochastic Efficiency with Respect to a Function (SERF) is used to rank transgenic cotton technology groups and place an upper and lower bound on their value. Yield and production data from replicated plot experiments are used to build cumulative distribution functions of returns for nontransgenic, Roundup Ready, Bollgard, and stacked gene cotton cultivars.     Phase distribution, composition and disorder in Y2(Hf,Sn)2O7 ceramics : insights from solid-state NMR spectroscopy and first-principles calculations

We acknowledge support from the Collaborative Computational Project on NMR Crystallography CCP-NC funded by EPSRC (EP/M022501/1).A NMR crystallographic approach, combining 89Y, 119Sn and 17O NMR spectroscopy with X-ray diffraction and first-principles calculations has been used investigate the number and type of phases present, and the local structure and disorder in Y2Hf2–xSnxO7 ceramics. Although a phase change is predicted with increasing Hf content, NMR spectra clearly show the presence of a significant two-phase region, with a Sn-rich pyrochlore and relatively Hf-rich defect fluorite phase co-existing for much of the compositional series. A single-phase pyrochlore is found only for the Sn end member, and a single defect fluorite phase only for x = 0 to 0.2. A solid-solution limit of ~10% is seen for the substitution of Hf into Y2Sn2O7, although no evidence is seen for any cation ordering or antisite disorder in this phase. In the defect fluorite phase there is preferential ordering of oxygen vacancies around Sn, which is only ever seen in a six-coordinate environment. The remaining vacancies are more likely to be associated with Hf than with Y, although this distinction is less apparent at higher Sn concentrations. To acquire 17O NMR spectra samples were post-synthetically exchanged with 17O2(g), although high temperatures (> 900 ºC) were required to ensure uniform enrichment of different chemical species. although these 17O NMR spectra confirm the formation of mixed-metal materials and the presence of two phases, more quantitative analysis is hindered by the overlap of signals from pyrochlore and defect fluorite phases. In all cases, DFT calculations play a vital role in the interpretation and assignment of the NMR spectra, and in understanding the local structure and disorder in these complex multi-phase materials.PostprintPostprintPeer reviewe

    A sociological exploration of the tensions related to interprofessional collaboration in acute-care discharge planning

    Patient discharge is a key concern in hospitals, particularly in acute care, given the multifaceted and challenging nature of patients' healthcare needs. Policies on discharge have identified the importance of interprofessional collaboration, yet research has described its limitations in this clinical context. This study aimed to extend our understanding of interprofessional interactions related to discharge in a general internal medicine setting by using sociological theories to illuminate the existence of, and interplay between, structural factors and microlevel practices. An ethnographic approach was employed to obtain an in-depth insight into healthcare providers' perspectives, behaviours, and interactions regarding discharge. Data collection involved observations, interviews, and document analysis. Approximately 65 hours of observations were undertaken, 23 interviews were conducted with healthcare providers, and government and hospital discharge documents were collected. Data were analysed using a directed content approach. The findings indicate the existence of a medically dominated division of healthcare labour in patient discharge with opportunities for some interprofessional negotiations; the role of organizational routines in facilitating and challenging interprofessional negotiations in patient discharge; and tensions in organizational priorities that impact an interprofessional approach to discharge. The findings provide insight into the various levels at which interventions can be targeted to improve interprofessional collaboration in discharge while recognizing the organizational tensions that challenge an interprofessional approach

    Evaluating 'Prefer not to say' Around Sensitive Disclosures

    As people's offline and online lives become increasingly entwined, the sensitivity of personal information disclosed online is increasing. Disclosures often occur through structured disclosure fields (e.g., drop-down lists). Prior research suggests these fields may limit privacy, with non-disclosing users being presumed to be hiding undesirable information. We investigated this around HIV status disclosure in online dating apps used by men who have sex with men. Our online study asked participants (N=183) to rate profiles where HIV status was either disclosed or undisclosed. We tested three designs for displaying undisclosed fields. Visibility of undisclosed fields had a significant effect on the way profiles were rated, and other profile information (e.g., ethnicity) could affect inferences that develop around undisclosed information. Our research highlights complexities around designing for non-disclosure and questions the voluntary nature of these fields. Further work is outlined to ensure disclosure control is appropriately implemented around online sensitive information disclosures
