Ricci curvature of submanifolds in Kenmotsu space forms

    Get PDF
In 1999, Chen established a sharp relationship between the Ricci curvature and the squared mean curvature for a submanifold in a Riemannian space form with arbitrary codimension. Similar problems for submanifolds in complex space forms were studied by Matsumoto et al. In this paper, we obtain sharp relationships between the Ricci curvature and the squared mean curvature for submanifolds in Kenmotsu space forms

(Development of augmented reality application for teaching geometric tolerances in engineering education)

    Get PDF
It is of great importance for individuals to start working life early and acquire knowledge and skills related to their professional fields during their education. Particularly for learning engineering subjects and concepts, relevant technologies should be adapted into education. Recently, for this purpose, Augmented Reality (AR) technologies come to the fore as a highly effective technique with the possibility of perception of depth and visual interaction with objects. In this study, development processes of a specific mobile AR application are examined in order to increase the performance of Technical Drawing learning. In this context, the geometric tolerances widely used in technical drawing subjects in the machine manufacturing-assembly processes with AR on Unity3D applications were developed as mobile AR application. In the application, the concepts of geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T) are intended to be easily understandable and teachable

A novel mutation in the sodium channel alpha 1 subunit gene in a child with Dravet syndrome in Turkey

    No full text
Dravet syndrome is a rare epileptic encephalopathy characterized by frequent seizures beginning in the first year of life and behavioral disorders. Mutations in the sodium channel alpha 1 subunit gene are the main cause of this disease. We report two patients with refractory seizures and psychomotor retardation in whom the final diagnosis was Dravet syndrome with confirmed mutations in the sodium channel alpha 1 subunit gene. The mutation identified in the second patient was a novel frame shift mutation, which resulted from the deletion of five nucleotides in exon 24

An evaluation of the alternative transport fuel policies for Turkey

    No full text
The search for alternative fuels and new fuel resources is a top priority for Turkey, as is the case in the majority of countries throughout the world. The fuel policies pursued by governmental or civil authorities are of key importance in the success of alternative fuel use, especially for widespread and efficient use. Following the 1973 petroleum crisis, many users in Turkey, especially in transportation sector, searched for alternative fuels and forms of transportation. Gasoline engines were replaced with diesel engines between the mid-1970s and mid-1980s. In addition, natural gas was introduced to the Turkish market for heating in the early 1990s. Liquid petroleum gas was put into use in the mid-1990s, and bio-diesel was introduced into the market for transportation in 2003. However, after long periods of indifference governmental action, guidance and fuel policies were so weak that they did not make sense. Entrepreneurs and users experienced great economical losses and lost confidence in future attempts to search for other possible alternatives. In the present study, we will look at the history of alternative fuel use in the recent past and investigate the alternative engine fuel potential of Turkey, as well as introduce possible future policies based on experience.Fuel policies Alternative fuels Transport fuels
