Stepwise API usage assistance using n-gram language models

    Get PDF
Reusing software involves learning third-party APIs, a process that is often time-consuming and error-prone. Recommendation systems for API usage assistance based on statistical models built from source code corpora are capable of assisting API users through code completion mechanisms in IDEs. A valid sequence of API calls involving different types may be regarded as a well-formed sentence of tokens from the API vocabulary. In this article we describe an approach for recommending subsequent tokens to complete API sentences using n-gram language models built from source code corpora. The provided system was integrated in the code completion facilities of the Eclipse IDE, providing contextualized completion proposals for Java taking into account the nearest lines of code. The approach was evaluated against existing client code of four widely used APIs, revealing that in more than 90% of the cases the expected subsequent token is within the 10-top-most proposals of our models. The high score provides evidence that the recommendations could help on API learning and exploration, namely through the assistance on writing valid API sentences.info:eu-repo/semantics/submittedVersio

Chemical abundances for the transiting planet host stars OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111, 113, 132 and TrES-1. Abundances in different galactic populations

We used the UVES spectrograph (VLT-UT2 telescope) to obtain high-resolution spectra of 6 stars hosting transiting planets, namely for OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111, 113, 132 and TrES-1. The spectra are now used to derive and discuss the chemical abundances for C, O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, S, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn. Abundances were derived in LTE, using 1-D plane-parallel Kurucz model atmospheres. For S, Zn and Cu we used a spectral synthesis procedure, while for the remaining cases the abundances were derived from measurements of line-equivalent widths. The resulting abundances are compared with those found for stars in the solar neighborhood. Distances and galactic coordinates are estimated for the stars. We conclude that besides being particularly metal-rich, with small possible exceptions OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111, 113, 132 and TrES-1 are chemically undistinguishable from the field (thin disk) stars regarding their [X/Fe] abundances. This is particularly relevant for the most distant of the targets, located at up to ~2 Kpc from the Sun. We also did not find any correlation between the abundances and the condensation temperature of the elements, an evidence that strong accretion of planetary-like material, tentatively connected to planetary migration, did not occur.Comment: Accepted for publication in Astronomy & Astrophysics (June 2006

ExpansĂŁo para oeste do peixe-gato-europeu Silurus glanis no rio Douro (Portugal)

The current study reports the first occurrence and the spread of the European catfish Silurus glanis (Family: Siluridae) in the Portuguese section of the Douro River, suggesting a potential expansion of its distribution in Portugal either via westward dispersal across international rivers and/or human-assisted introductions into new reservoirs and drainages. The European catfish has unique features (e.g., opportunistic predator, hunting, and aggregation behaviour) that make it highly suitable for establishing self-sustaining populations in new areas and likely contribute to its invasion success. The species may severely affect native prey communities and modify food web structure and ecosystem functioning.

AI-based smart sensing and AR for gait rehabilitation assessment

    Get PDF
Health monitoring is crucial in hospitals and rehabilitation centers. Challenges can affect the reliability and accuracy of health data. Human error, patient compliance concerns, time, money, technology, and environmental factors might cause these issues. In order to improve patient care, healthcare providers must address these challenges. We propose a non-intrusive smart sensing system that uses a SensFloor smart carpet and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) wearable sensor on the user’s back to monitor position and gait characteristics. Furthermore, we implemented machine learning (ML) algorithms to analyze the data collected from the SensFloor and IMU sensors. The system generates real-time data that are stored in the cloud and are accessible to physical therapists and patients. Additionally, the system’s real-time dashboards provide a comprehensive analysis of the user’s gait and balance, enabling personalized training plans with tailored exercises and better rehabilitation outcomes. Using non-invasive smart sensing technology, our proposed solution enables healthcare facilities to monitor patients’ health and enhance their physical rehabilitation plans.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Fish assemblages of shallow intertidal habitats of the Ria Formosa lagoon (South Portugal): influence of habitat and season

Fish assemblages in seagrass and unvegetated habitats located in shallow intertidal creeks within the saltmarsh area of the Ria Formosa coastal lagoon were sampled with a Riley push net at 3 sites on a monthly basis over a 1 yr period. The objective was to test if both habitats support similar fish assemblages in terms of abundance, diversity, assemblage structure, and size distribution, and to investigate how site and season affect the assemblages. Fish assemblages associated with these habitats were significantly different in terms of diversity, abundance, and assemblage structure. Seagrass supported a larger number of species and greater diversity, while unvegetated habitat supported greater fish numbers but only of a few species. The habitats were dominated by different groups of resident species that were responsible for major differences in fish assemblage structure between habitats. Pomatoschistus microps and young-of-the-year (YOY) Atherina presbyter dominated the unvegetated habitat, while seagrass was dominated by a diverse group of species, in particular syngnathids and small labrids, revealing different habitat preferences. Site and season were determinant factors conditioning the role of habitat in structuring fish assemblages. Distance between habitats, site elevation, and the amount of marsh drained affected fish assemblages in both habitats. Seasonal fluctuations in the presence and abundance of YOY from marine migrant and resident species were responsible for comparable changes in fish assemblage structure in both habitats. Both habitats provide a distinctive nursery area for different species, while common species reveal ontogenic distributional changes between habitats, where smaller fish appear first in unvegetated creeks

Vapor - liquid equilibrium data for the binary systems: Perfluoromethylcyclohexane + n-Hexane and Perfluoromethylcyclohexane + 1-Hexene were determined at 93.3 KPa and 328.15 K. The vapor pressure for the pure components were also measured to calculate the Antoine constants. The data were correlated by using the Van-Laar, Margules, Wilson, NRTL and UNIQUAC equations. UNIFAC group-contribution parameters between CH, and CF,, and CH,=CH and CF, were also calculated
