General scalar products in the arbitrary six-vertex model

In this work we use the algebraic Bethe ansatz to derive the general scalar product in the six-vertex model for generic Boltzmann weights. We performed this calculation using only the unitarity property, the Yang-Baxter algebra and the Yang-Baxter equation. We have derived a recurrence relation for the scalar product. The solution of this relation was written in terms of the domain wall partition functions. By its turn, these partition functions were also obtained for generic Boltzmann weights, which provided us with an explicit expression for the general scalar product.Comment: 24 page

Quantum key distribution with higher-order alphabets using spatially-encoded qudits

We propose and demonstrate a quantum key distribution scheme in higher-order dd-dimensional alphabets using spatial degrees of freedom of photons. Our implementation allows for the transmission of 4.56 bits per sifted photon, while providing improved security: an intercept-resend attack on all photons would induce an error rate of 0.47. Using our system, it should be possible to send more than a byte of information per sifted photon.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures. Replaced with published versio

THE ADO METHOD FOR SOLVING ONE-DIMENSIONAL DEEP-PENETRATION TRANSPORT PROBLEMS

    Get PDF
In this work, the Analytical Discrete Ordinate method (ADO method) is used to solve deep-penetration transport problems in one-dimensional Cartesian geometry, subject to isotropic and linear anisotropic scattering effects. The regime is considered permanent, the media are homogeneous, and the fluxes are caused by sources located on the boundaries of the domain. In addition, the energy fluctuations will be considered as not significant, characterizing the phenomena as monoenergetic problems. In order to validate the code, method and provide benchmark results, some test problems will be treated and results will be discussed. In particular, the ADO method generated fairly accurate results when compared to other methods based on SN approaches, at a relatively low computational cost

Observation of twin beam correlations and quadrature entanglement by frequency doubling in a two-port resonator

We demonstrate production of quantum correlated and entangled beams by second harmonic generation in a nonlinear resonator with two output ports. The output beams at wavelength 428.5 nm exhibit 0.9 dB of nonclassical intensity correlations and 0.3 dB of entanglement.Comment: 5 pages, 7 figure

A conjugate for the Bargmann representation

In the Bargmann representation of quantum mechanics, physical states are mapped into entire functions of a complex variable z*, whereas the creation and annihilation operators a^\hat{a}^\dagger and a^\hat{a} play the role of multiplication and differentiation with respect to z*, respectively. In this paper we propose an alternative representation of quantum states, conjugate to the Bargmann representation, where the roles of a^\hat{a}^\dagger and a^\hat{a} are reversed, much like the roles of the position and momentum operators in their respective representations. We derive expressions for the inner product that maintain the usual notion of distance between states in the Hilbert space. Applications to simple systems and to the calculation of semiclassical propagators are presented.Comment: 15 page

Small Deviations from Gaussianity and The Galaxy Cluster Abundance Evolution

    Get PDF
We raise the hypothesis that the density fluctuations field which originates the growth of large scale structures is a combination of two or more distributions. By applying the statistical analysis of finite mixture distributions to a specific combination of Gaussian plus non-Gaussian random fields, we studied the case where just a small departure from Gaussianity is allowed. Our results suggest that even a very small level of non-Gaussianity may introduce significant changes in the cluster abundance evolution rate.Comment: 10 pages with 2 figures, accepted for publication in Ap
