Polymerization of ethylene using metallocene and aluminoxane systems

    Get PDF
This paper describes ethylene polymerization using a number of metal-locene and aluminoxane catalyst systems, Cp2MR2 and methylaluminoxane [M = Zr, W, Nb; R = Cl, CH3]. Two types of methylaluminoxane, MAO (1) and MAO (2), were used as cocatalysts. The polymerization activities of the complexes Cp2WCl2 and Cp2NbCl2 were compared with that of Cp2ZrCl2. The Nb and W complexes were found to be less active than the Zr complex. Polyethylene characterization was also carried out by the following methods: gel permeation chromatography (GPC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    Homogeneous Ziegler-Natta polymerisation: A kinetic approach .2. Transient-state kinetics

    Get PDF
An integrated view is presented of several possible mechanisms applicable to the interpretation of homogeneous Ziegler-Natta polymerisation. In this paper, the transient aspects related to the kinetics of Ziegler-Natta polymerisation are investigated. Extensive data are used to construct kinetic profiles (rM vs. t) from a theoretical approach. Special attention is given to the duration of the transient period as a function of the different kinetic parameters. The kinetic models developed are fitted to experimental data, either directly obtained by the authors or published in the literature. These general models have a broad range of application.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Las problemáticas en la diferenciación entre madres e hijas: un estudio de caso

    Get PDF
This work aims to investigate how the psychological dynamics of relations between mothers and daughters, as a basis the psychoanalytic perspective. More specifically, we intend to comprehend the problems that may emerge in a highly undifferentiated relationship between mother and daughter. Thus, it is intended to provide a better understanding of the symbiotic relationship with a mother and its consequences for the the girls psychic constitution. Departing from this case study, a discussion is carried out in line with our constructive theoretical concepts that different authors of psychoanalysis have made on the subject of the transmission of femininity between mothers and daughters.                                                                                                        &nbsp

A survey for maintenance of virulent newcastle disease virus-free area in poultry production in Brazil

In 2003, Brazil was recognized as a pathogenic Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) strain-free country for commercial poultry. This research was conducted in Brazil between December 2003 and March 2005 to verify the maintenance of this virulent NDV-free status. Serum samples from 5,455 flocks for commercial poultry farms were collected, comprising 81,825 broiler chickens. The farms were located in nine states of the country, grouped in three geographic regions. Serological evidence of NDV infection was detected in 28.8% of the surveyed farms. However, all fifteen viruses isolated and identified as Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) were characterized as nonpathogenic strains, based on the Intracerebral Pathogenicity Index. These results showed that Brazil preserves the virulent NDV-free status for commercial flocks.368375Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq

This study was carried out during 2002/2003, aiming to determine the prevalence of virulent Newcastle disease virus strains (NDV) in Brazilian commercial poultry farms. Clinical samples were obtained from the Southeastern, Southern and Central-Western regions, which comprise the main area of the Brazilian poultry production. Serum samples and tracheal and cloacal swabs of 23,745 broiler chickens from 1,583 flocks, including both vaccinated chickens and those with no vaccination information, were tested for NDV using a diagnostic ELISA kit. The seropositivity was 39.1%, and the isolation percentage by flock varied from 1.0 to 7.6%, and by region from 6.5 to 58.4%. Higher isolation rates (74.3-83.3%) were obtained after three passages in embryonated chicken eggs. All isolates preliminarily identified as NDV were characterized as nonpathogenic strains, as their Intracerebral Pathogenicity Index (ICPI) was below 0.7. Based on results of this study, Brazil can claim a virulent NDV-free status for commercial flocks.349357Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq

Aim: To investigate the indication of systemic antimicrobial agents used by dental professionals for treatment of patients affected by periodontal diseases. Methods: Interviews by a questionnaire were held with 225 professionals of different dental specialties and who performed periodontal treatment. Results: Among interviewees, 94% indicated systemic antibiotics as a form of periodontal disease treatment. Their main indication was for periodontal abscesses (80%) followed by aggressive periodontitis (62%) and necrotizing diseases (45%). The most frequently used antibiotics were amoxicillin (81%) and metronidazole (57%). The medications were indicated in association with mechanical therapy by 67% of the professionals. As regards the occasion of indication, 60% indicated systemic antibiotic therapy before and after mechanical periodontal scaling and root planing. Seventy-eight percent of the professionals indicated antibiotics associated with periodontal surgery for access to scaling, and 76% indicated it before and after the surgical procedure. Among the interviewees, 99% took into account systemic involvement for drug administration. Conclusions: It was concluded that a considerable portion of professionals indicate systemic antibiotic-therapy in an incoherent manner and in situations in which there is no indication for antibiotic use, or with ineffective protocols.124285291Herrera, D., Matesanz, P., Bascones-Martínez, A., Sanz, M., Local and systemic antimicrobial therapy in periodontics (2012) J Evid Based Dent Pract., 12, pp. 50-60Matarazzo, F., Figueiredo, L.C., Cruz, S.E., Faveri, M., Feres, M., Clinical and microbiological benefits of systemic metronidazole and amoxicillin in the treatment of smokers with chronic periodontitis: a randomized placebo controlled study (2008) J Clin Periodontol., 35, pp. 885-896Cionca, N., Giannopoulou, C., Ugolotti, G., Mombelli, A., Amoxicillin and metronidazole as an adjunct to full-mouth scaling and root planing of chronic periodontitis (2009) J Periodontol., 80, pp. 364-371Sgolastra, F., Gatto, R., Petrucci, A., Monaco, A., Effectiveness of systemic amoxicillin/metronidazole as adjunctive therapy to scaling and root planing in the treatment of chronic periodontitis: a systematic review and metaanalysis (2012) J Periodontol., 83, pp. 1257-1269Mestnik, M.J., Feres, M., Figueiredo, L.C., Duarte, P.M., Lira, E.A.G., Faveri, M., Short-term benefits of the adjunctive use of metronidazole plus amoxicillin in the microbial profile and in clinical parameters of subjects with generalized aggressive periodontitis (2010) J Clin Periodontol., 37, pp. 353-365Yek, E.C., Citan, S., Topcuoglu, N., Kulekci, G., Issever, H., Kantarci, A., Efficacy of amoxicillin and metronidazole combination for the management of generalized aggressive periodontitis (2010) J Periodontol., 81, pp. 964-974Rodrigues, A.S., Louren, O.D.S., Lima Neto, L.G., Pannuti, C.M., Crespo Hirata, R.D., Hirata, M.H., Clinical and microbiological evaluation, by real-time pcr, of non-surgical treatment of aggressive periodontitis associated with amoxicillin and metronidazole (2012) J Periodontol., 83, pp. 744-752Silva, M.P., Feres, M., Sirotto, T.A., Soares, G.M., Mendes, J.A., Faveri, M., Clinical and microbiological benefits of metronidazole alone or with amoxicillin as adjuncts in the treatment of chronic periodontitis: a randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial (2011) J Clin Periodontol., 38, pp. 828-837Arweiler, N.B., Pietruska, M., Skurska, A., Doliñska, E., Pietruski, J.K., Bläs, M., Nonsurgical treatment of aggressive periodontitis with photodynamic therapy or systemic antibiotics.
