Dynamical non-locality in the near-horizon region of a black hole with quantum time

The formalization of the modular energy operator within the curved spacetime is achieved through the timeless approach proposed by Page and Wootters. The investigation is motivated by the peculiar behavior of the near horizon region of a black hole and its quantum effects, leading to a restriction of the study to the immediate vicinity. The focus lies on the perspective of a static observer positioned close to the horizon. This paper highlights the alteration of the modular energy's behavior in this region compared to flat spacetime. Furthermore, it is observed that the geometry of the spacetime influences the non-local properties of the modular energy. Moreover, within the event horizon of the black hole, the modular energy exhibits a completely distinct behavior, rendering its modular behavior imperceptible in this specific region

This report describes the clinical presentation, treatment, and outcome of a dog with third eyelid scrolling associated with prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid, which was treated with a modified surgical technique, and determines whether this procedure preserves the functions of the third eyelid, reduces cartilage shortening, eliminates the recurrence and finally improves the vision. An 8-month-old male German shepherd dog was presented with ocular irritation and epiphora. Ophthalmic examination revealed an everted third eyelid associated with a prolapsed nictitans gland. We performed the Morgan pocket technique to reposition the prolapsed gland in the current case, and the incision of deformed cartilage was done simultaneously. The surgical outcome was excellent with no recurrence or other complications. The Morgan pocket technique is a suitable surgical technique, however we corrected eversion of third eyelid by cutting the central portion of the deformed cartilage rather than removing the whole or part of it. This work may provide an alternative surgical treatment of third eyelid scrolling in dog.Rad opisuje kliničku sliku, liječenje i ishod liječenja psa s izvrnućem trećega očnog kapka povezanog s prolapsom pripadajuće žlijezde.

Assessment of Combined Modality Therapy for Non-Small-Cell Lung Carcinoma: A Simulation Study Concerning Concurrent Chemo-Brachytherapy

Although surgery is the treatment of choice for early-stage non-small-cell lung carcinoma, almost two-thirds of patients do not have acceptable pulmonary function for extensive surgeries. The alternative approach for this large group of patients is sublobar resection along with low-dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy (BT). However, patients with resected lungs have a high risk of recurrence and are often treated with platinum-based (Pt-based) chemotherapy (CT). In this study, we aimed to evaluate the absorbed doses of lung and other thoracic organs, considering concurrent chemo-BT with LDR sources in two modalities: conventional vs. unconventional Pt-based CT. We used the MCNPX code for simulations and to obtain the lung absorbed dose, dose enhancement factor (DEF), and Pt threshold concentration for the abovementioned modalities. Our results indicate that DEF correlates directly with Pt concentration at prescription point and is inversely correlated with depth. Dose enhancement for conventional CT concurrent with BT is \u3c 2%, while it is \u3e 2% in case of unconventional Pt-based CT wherein the Pt concentration exceeds 0.2 mg/g lung tissue. Also, the absorbed dose of healthy thoracic organs decreased by 2-11% in the latter approach. In conclusion, the concurrent chemo-BT in the lung environment could enhance the therapeutic doses merely by using unconventional CT methods, while lung Pt accumulation exceeds 0.2 mg/g

Robust and Flexible Hydrocarbon Production Forecasting Considering the Heterogeneity Impact for Hydraulically Fractured Wells

Producing oil and gas from increasingly more difficult reservoirs has become an unavoidable challenge for the petroleum industry because the conventional hydrocarbon resources are no longer able to maintain the production levels corresponding to the global energy demand. As the industrial investments in developing lower permeability reservoirs increase and more advanced technologies, such as horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing, gain more attention and applicability, the need for more reliable means of production forecasting also become more noticeable. Production forecasting of hydraulically fractured wells is challenging, particularly for heterogeneous reservoirs, where the rock properties vary dramatically over short distances, significantly affecting the performance of the wells. Despite the recent improvements in well performance prediction, the issue of heterogeneity and its effects on well performance have not been thoroughly addressed by the researchers and many aspects of heterogeneity have yet remained unnoticed. In this paper, a novel empirical approach for production forecasting of multi-fractured horizontal wells is presented in an attempt to effectively include the effect of heterogeneity. This approach is based on the integration of hyperpolic decline curve analysis (DCA) and heterogeneity impact factor (HIF). This newly defined ratio quantifies the heterogeneity impact on the hydraulically fractured well performance and is calculated on the basis of net pressure match interpretation and post-fracture well test analysis. The proposed approach of the decline curve using heterogeneity impact factor (DCH) is validated against data from a southern North Sea field. The results show a maximum of 15% difference between the outcome of the proposed method and the most detailed three-dimensional history-matched model, for a 15 year period of production forecasts. DCH is a novel, fast, and flexible method for making reliable well performance predictions for hydraulically fractured wells and can be used in forecasting undrilled wells and the range of possible outcomes caused by the heterogeneity

Massive gravity solution of Black Holes and Entropy Bounds

The dRGT massive gravity represent a comprehensive theory which properly describes massive graviton field. Latterly, the exact spherical solutions are identified for the black hole in the dRGT massive gravity theory. In this paper, we derive Bousso's D-bound entropy for the black hole solutions of dRGT massive gravity. By an entropic consideration which provides a criterion, it is demonstrated that the relation between the D-bound and Bekenstein entropy bound imposes some constraints on the structure parameters of black hole solutions in dRGT massive gravity.Comment: 17 page

    Get PDF
Ethanol known as ethyl alcohol is being widely used around the world. Many serious diseases are related with its consumption.  Alcohol posses many divers effects on human body including risk of cirrhosis and/or hepatocellular carcinoma. Therefore, analysis of this component is prominent. Fibroblast cells were cultured in various dosages of ethanol. The effective dosage was then investigated by proteomic methods.  Separated proteins of fibroblast cells by Two-Dimensional Gel (2DG) Electrophoresis method based on pI and MW were analyzed based on spots alteration by Same Spot Software. Furthered analysis was carried out with vigorous statistical analysis based on significant folding changes and one-way ANOVA. About 372 protein spots were identified and among them 65 of them were having significant expression profile, which is evaluated as p <0.05. Therefore, ethanol can induce a great impact on protein profile of fibroblast. It is concluded that altering morphologic features and viability, as well as protein expression changes, confirm toxic properties of ethanol in human body.
