EVALUATION OF THE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY OF COMBINATION OF ETHANOL EXTRACTS OF AZADIRACHTA INDICA (NEEM) AND LAWSONIA INERMIS (HENNA)
Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of Azadirachta indica (neem) and Lawsonia inermis(henna) individual extract and in combination using the same solvent. Methods: The leaf material of A. indica and L. inermis was collected from surroundings of Aditya College of Pharmacy, Kakinada, East Godavari.Powdered material was subjected to successive solvent extraction process. The yield was collected and prepared different concentrations (50, 100,and 200 ĂÂźg/ml) of plant extracts. Diclofenac sodium was used as standard drug. The anti-inflammatory activity was performed by in vitro methodssuch as albumin denaturation method and human red blood cells membrane lysis method. Results: Denaturation of proteins is a well-documented cause of inflammation. Neem showed a significant membrane stabilizing activity of 46.62% and protein denaturation inhibition activity of 57.32% at concentration of 200 ĂÂźg/ml. Henna showed a significant membrane stabilizing activity of 39.89% and protein denaturation inhibition activity of 53.75% at 200 ĂÂźg/ml. In combination, both the extracts showed a significant membranestabilizing activity of 56.63% and protein denaturation inhibition activity of 67.69% at concentration of 200 ĂÂźg/ml.Conclusion: The present study concluded that combination of A. indica and L. inermis possesses significant anti-inflammatory activity when comparedwith individual extract. Keywords: Anti-inflammatory, Human red blood cell, Protein denaturation, Lawsonia inermis, Azadiracta indica
Reversible Emission Tunability from 2DâLayered Perovskites with Conjugated Organic Cations
The structural flexibility of 2Dâlayered halide perovskites provides unprecedented opportunities for tuning their optical properties. For example, lattice distortions facilitate white emission that stems from selfâtrapped excitons or defects, and organic cations and halides determine structural stability and emission range. Herein, the optical properties of a set of singleâlayer thiopheneâbased 2D lead bromide platelets are investigated. Blueâ and whiteâemitting materials based on the choice of thiophene cation and HBr concentration in the synthesis and reversible white to blue color switching by sequential washing and precursor exposure of the fabricated samples are obtained. The photophysical and structural studies indicate that the key to color switching is the formation and suppression of selfâtrapped excitons by the supply and removal of cations and halides in acetone. The range of emission color from these materials is extended to red by efficient Mn doping that leads to an additional strong emission peak centered at 620ânm. The findings stimulate the development of colorâtunable and switchable light emitters based on a single material
Utility of Bacillary Index in Slit Skin Smears in Correlation with Clinical and Histopathological Alterations in Hansenâs Disease: An Attempt to Revive a Simple Useful Procedure
Leprosy, a relatively common chronic contagious disease having diverse modes of clinical presentation, can mimic a variety of unrelated diseases. For proper and adequate treatment, the diagnosis must be made accurately with subtyping which should be done with the help of bacillary index, histopathological features, and clinical correlation. This is extremely important in patient care as paucibacillary and multibacillary types have different modes of treatment. Our aim is to categorize leprosy into various types based on bacillary index, morphological findings both in slit skin smears, and biopsy along with clinical correlation. Keywords: Bacillary index, Histopathology, Leprosy, Multibacillary, Paucibacillary, Slit skin smear
2-D Attention Based Convolutional Recurrent Neural Network for Speech Emotion Recognition
Recognizing speech emotions is a formidable challenge due to the complexity of emotions. The function of Speech Emotion Recognition(SER) is significantly impacted by the effects of emotional signals retrieved from speech. The majority of emotional traits, on the other hand, are sensitive to emotionally neutral elements like the speaker, speaking manner, and gender. In this work, we postulate that computing deltas for individual features maintain useful information which is mainly relevant to emotional traits while it minimizes the loss of emotionally irrelevant components, thus leading to fewer misclassifications. Additionally, Speech Emotion Recognition(SER) commonly experiences silent and emotionally unrelated frames. The proposed technique is quite good at picking up important feature representations for emotion relevant features. So here is a two dimensional convolutional recurrent neural network that is attention-based to learn distinguishing characteristics and predict the emotions. The Mel-spectrogram is used for feature extraction. The suggested technique is conducted on IEMOCAP dataset and it has better performance, with 68% accuracy value
Analysis of Antibody and Cytokine Markers for Leprosy Nerve Damage and Reactions in the INFIR Cohort in India
Leprosy is one of the oldest known diseases. In spite of the established fact that it is least infectious and a completely curable disease, the social stigma associated with it still lingers in many countries and remains a major obstacle to self reporting and early treatment. The nerve damage that occurs in leprosy is the most serious aspect of this disease as nerve damage leads to progressive impairment and disability. It is important to identify markers of nerve damage so that preventive measures can be taken. This prospective cohort study was designed to look at the potential association of some serological markers with reactions and nerve function impairment. Three hundred and three newly diagnosed patients from north India were recruited for this study. The study attempts to reflect a model of nerve damage initiated by mycobacterial antigens and maintained by ongoing inflammation through cytokines such as Tumour Necrosis Factor alpha and perhaps extended by antibodies against nerve components
Physical and thermal properties of nano lead oxide loaded electrospun PAN nanofibres
16-19Electrospun nanofibres of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and
PAN mixed nano lead oxide (n-PbO) matrices have been produced. With the
increase in concentration of nano lead oxide in the electrospinning matrices,
the diameter of fibres is found to increase. The tensile strength of
electrospun matrices increases up to 0.8 wt% incorporation of nano lead oxide
but with further increase in nano lead oxide the tensile strength of the web
decreases. The conductivity of the parent sample is found to be better compared
to that of sample mixed with n-PbO
