    Rh2(CF3CONH)4: The First Biological Assays of a Rhodium (II) Amidate

    The rhodium (II) complexes Rh2(tfa)4.2(tfac) and Rh2(tfacam)4 (tfacam = CF3CONH-,tfa = CF3COO-,tfac = CF3CONH2) were synthesized and characterized by microanalysis and electronic and vibrational spectroscopies. Rh2(tfacam)4 was tested both in vitro (U937 and K562 human leukemia cells and Ehrlich ascitic tumor cells) and in vivo for cytostatic activity and lethal dose determination, respectively. This is the first rhodium tetra-amidate to have its biological activity evaluated. The LD50 value for Rh2(tfacam)4 is of the same order as that of cisplatin, and it was verified that the rhodium complex usually needs lower doses than cisplatin to promote the same inhibitory effects

    Prevalência de lombalgias em transportadores de sacos de café

    The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of low back pain in coffee’s bag carriers of a processing and exportation coffee factory situated in Ouro Fino/MG city. Twelve workers were individually submitted to the application of the following instruments of evaluation: (1) subjective scale of pain, used to identify the intensity of pain perceived for the worker; (2) the Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire to evaluate functionally the lumbar spine; and (3) the Oswestry Disability Questionnaire used effectively to investigate the presence of low back pain. As result, it was observed that clinical detectable pain in the lumbar column occurred at 50% of the workers and that 75% of the studied population presented functional limitation in the daily activities. It is concluded that the low back pain has great incidence in these workers and that beyond general measures of ergonomic prevention, specific instruments of evaluation of the lumbar column, constitute essential tools in the control of this occupational illness.O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a prevalência de lombalgias em trabalhadores transportadores de sacos de café de uma empresa beneficiadora e exportadora de café situada na cidade de Ouro Fino/MG. Doze trabalhadores foram submetidos individualmente à aplicação dos seguintes instrumentos de avaliação: (1) Escala subjetiva de dor, usada para identificar a intensidade de dor percebida pelo próprio trabalhador; (2) Questionário de Roland-Morris, utilizado para avaliar funcionalmente a coluna lombar; e, (3) Questionário de Oswestry, usado efetivamente para investigar a presença de lombalgias. Como resultado, observou-se que dor clinicamente detectável na coluna lombar ocorreu em 50% dos trabalhadores e que 75% da população estudada apresentou limitação funcional nas atividades de vida diária. Concluí-se que a lombalgia tem grande incidência nestes trabalhadores e entende-se que além de medidas gerais de prevenção ergonômica, instrumentos específicos de avaliação da coluna lombar, constituem ferramentas imprescindíveis no controle desta doença ocupacional

    Effect of rest interval length on the volume completed during upper body resistance exercise

    The purpose of the current study was to compare the workout volume (sets x resistance x repetitions per set) completed during two upper body resistance exercise sessions that incorporated 1 minute versus 3 minute rest intervals between sets and exercises. Twelve trained men completed two experimental sessions that consisted of 5 upper body exercises (i.e. barbell bench press, incline barbell bench press, pec deck flye, barbell lying triceps extension, triceps pushdown) performed for three sets with an 8- RM load. The two experimental sessions differed only in the length of the rest interval between sets and exercises; one session with a 1-minute and the other session with a 3-minute rest interval. The results demonstrated that for each exercise, significantly greater workout volume was completed when resting 3 minutes between sets and exercises (p \u3c 0.05). These results indicate that during a resistance exercise session, if sufficient time is available, resting 3 minutes between sets and exercises allows greater workout volume for the upper body exercises examined

    A PROIBIÇÃO DA PROVA EXCLUSIVAMENTE TESTEMUNHAL EM PROCESSOS PREVIDENCIÁRIOS: uma ofensa à democracia?

    O presente trabalho investiga se a vedação da prova exclusivamente testemunhal em processos para comprovação de atividade rural e de união estável visando a obtenção de benefícios previdenciários configura ofensa aos preceitos constitucionais, em especial, ao contraditório e ao direito fundamental à prova, a ponto de se questionar o caráter democrático da decisão judicial. Justifica-se a pesquisa diante do seu nítido caráter social, uma vez que os benefícios previdenciários possuem caráter alimentar. O trabalho explora os conceitos de democracia e compreende o processo como instrumento de realização da democracia. Pondera sobre o direito à ampla participação no processo, abordando os princípios constitucionais, especialmente a dimensão substancial do contraditório, que garante efetiva participação no processo como poder de influência, legitimando as decisões judiciais. Conclui-se que a vedação da utilização de prova exclusivamente testemunhal, embora expressamente prevista em lei, revela-se incompatível com a produção de um devido processo legal, uma vez que impede a ampla participação das partes. A alegação de que tal medida se revela necessária para obstar a concessão de benefícios fraudulentos pode ser afastada pelo próprio ordenamento jurídico que prevê outros mecanismos eficazes contra fraudes.     Construção colaborativa de um plano de ação para a Educação Inclusiva: como a experiência educacional Finlandesa pode rechear esse processo?

    This article discusses the use of active methodologies, project-based learning and student-centered learning, which is in line with some Finnish Education essential elements, to support the organization and construction of an Action Plan on Inclusive Education. It presents a pedagogical routine for a period of four hours using educational strategies to promote the discussion of Inclusive Education. Approximately 160 civil servants (teachers and administrative technicians) from the Federal Institute of South of Minas Gerais, Muzambinho Campus have developed an official document with 8 dimensions (School Management, Teaching Practice, Evaluation, Accessibility, permanence and success in school, Educational environment; Professional Development; School-Family Relationship; and School-Work Integration) on a digital platform (Padlet). At the end, the results could support future institutional actions for Inclusive Education. Moreover, it was possible to notice, in an empirical way, that most of the collaborators seemed to be satisfied by recognizing that each one had performed a key role in the document construction, which implies considering that it is possible to change some educational routines through the use of some successful Finnish experiences.El presente artículo aborda el uso de las metodologías activas, el aprendizaje basado en proyectos y el aprendizaje centrado en el estudiante, que se contextualizan con la Educación Finlandesa, en pro de la organización y construcción de un Plan de Acción sobre la Educación Inclusiva. Se presenta una rutina pedagógica para un período de cuatro horas con el uso de estrategias educativas para la promoción de la discusión de la Educación Inclusiva. En el caso de los municipios de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, en el marco de la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Climático, profesionales del campus, Relación escolar - Familia, e Integración Escuela-Trabajo) en una plataforma digital (Padlet). Al final, los resultados pudieron subsidiar futuras acciones institucionales para la Educación Inclusiva. Además, percibir incluso que subjetivamente la mirada de satisfacción de gran parte de los servidores en reconocer que cada uno tuvo un papel fundamental en el documento implica creer que es posible cambiar algunas rutinas educativas con el uso de las exitosas experiencias finlandesas.O presente artigo aborda o uso das metodologias ativas, aprendizagem baseada em projetos e aprendizagem centrada no estudante, as quais se contextualizam com a Educação Finlandesa, em prol da organização e construção de um Plano de Ação acerca da Educação Inclusiva.     Effect of different doses of creatine on the bone in thirty days of supplementation in mice: FT-Raman study

    Abstract. In this study, Raman spectroscopy was employed in order to provide information about the effects of different doses of creatine on bone tissue composition of phosphate apatite (960 cm −1 ), carbonate apatite (1170 cm −1 ) representing the mineral content and collagen matrix (amide I, 1665 cm −1 ). The animals (27 Balb-C male) were divided into three groups (n = 9 per group): control (CON), supplemented with 0.5 g/kg (Cre-0.5) and with 2.0 g/kg (Cre-2.0) creatine. The experiment was carried out for thirty days. After this time, the right femur of each animal was harvested. The specimens were assessment by FT-Raman spectroscopy and in a total of 81 spectra were acquired in the medial diaphysis of the femur. The Raman data strongly suggest that only the creatine supplementation of 0.5 g/kg effective to the bone constitution. Furthermore, the present results demonstrate that creatine ingestion provokes decrease in the relative presence of carbonate in the chemical constitution of bones. The decrease in the carbonate content can be associated to a significantly bone resistance altered to several mammalians. The analysis evidenced that the mineral concentrations in the Raman spectroscopy could be a feasible method for non-invasive or minimally invasive assessment of bone tissue composition. Probably this high sensitivity can be employed to determine spectral profiles, such as wavelength of maximum absorption and maximum intensity of absorption of each wavelength, of several bone diseases

    Biofilm Production and In Vitro Susceptibility to Disinfectants of Staphylococcus Coagulase Positive Isolated from Bovine Milk

    Background: Mastitis is one of the diseases that cause damage to dairy cattle, and coagulase positive Staphylococcus (CPS), are its main etiological agents. The production of biofilms gives these microorganisms a physiological advantage, being an important virulence factor, as it confers their resistance to the action of disinfectants used in hygiene procedures. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the capacity of CPS, isolated from milk samples from cases of bovine subclinical mastitis in the Alagoas dairy basin, biofilm production and its sensitivity to disinfectant agents used before and after dipping.Materials, Methods & Results: In the Alagoas Milk Basin Region, 10 properties were selected from the municipalities of Batalha, Cacimbinhas, Major Isidoro and Minador do Negrão, which used a mechanical milking system and supplied milk to a dairy under federal inspection. The California Mastitis Test (CMT) was performed on 1155 cows. The animals diagnosed with subclinical mastitis were classified as: mild (+); moderate (++) and severe (+++). CMT positive samples were collected from 2+, totaling 891 samples. After cleaning the papillary ostium, 2 to 5 mL of milk was collected from each fourth breast before milking began. Subsequently, 0.5 µL of each sample was streak plated by exhaustion on 5% Sheep Blood Agar and incubated at 37°C, with readings at 24 and 48 h. The macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of the colonies, catalase and coagulase test were evaluated. Biofilm formation was determined by the microplate adhesion test. The efficacy of the sanitizers was evaluated with the active ingredients: lactic acid (2%), allantoin (0.05%), iodine (0.5%), chlorhexidine (2.0%), chlorine (2.5%), at times 15, 30 and 60 seconds. It was observed that 91.2% of the samples were able to form biofilm; Of these, 22.2%, 29.6% and 48.2% were strong, moderate and weak producers, respectively. The sensitivity profile of chlorhexidine isolates was 79.73%, 80.41% and 83.78%; iodine was 59.46%, 65.54% and 66.22% sensitivity over the evaluated time. For allantoin, the isolates presented sensitivity of 22.30%, 27.03% and 37.74%, for lactic acid, 18.92%, 20.95% and 22.30% of the samples were sensitive, and to chlorine, 12.6%, 15.58% and 17.57% of the isolates were sensitive. Moreover, it was observed that the longer the exposure to the disinfectant, the greater the effectiveness of the same.Discussion: The results are in line with literature data. Staphylococcus spp. from milk samples of animals with subclinical mastitis are able to form biofilm, thus being an important virulence factor. The heterogeneity regarding the biofilm production potential of the isolates is due to the different species of Staphylococcus spp. that, through distinct mechanisms, triggers a greater or lesser formation of this virulent factor, as well as having their adhesion tested, end up becoming more strongly attached to the plate. Among the disinfectants tested, it was confirmed that chlorhexidine and iodine are more effective than SCP, which tend to have high levels of sensitivity to these disinfectants. However, although chlorhexidine was more sensitive to SCP, its use in the field should be done with caution, as its effectiveness may be reduced in the presence of chlorinated water or excess organic matter. It is concluded that SCP isolates from bovine milk from subclinical mastitis mammary quarters were able to produce biofilms. These isolates were also in vitro sensitive to chlorhexidine and iodine, but periodic evaluation of the efficacy of disinfectants used before and after milking is necessary

    Com esta publicação Educomunicação e Diversidade: Tecendo Saberes, a Associação Brasileira de Pesquisadores e Profissionais de Educomunicação socializa uma importante contribuição para o aprofundamento e aprimorando de estudos e práticas educativas e comunicativas numa perspectiva de respeito às diversidades. A publicação está estruturada em quatro partes, a saber: I. Educomunicação e Políticas para a Cidadania; II. Práxis Educomunicativa: o principio da indissociabilidade entre ensino-pesquisa-extensão; III. Educomunicação e Formação em EAD; IV – Mediação Tecnológica. Trata-se, assim, de um trabalho coletivo que contém 19 capítulos onde contribuem 35 autores e coautores. Eis uma publicação que se destina não somente aos educomunicadores, mas a todos os que assumem o desafio de pensar numa outra forma possível de educar e de comunicar, mais colaborativa, intercultural, criativa e emancipatória, menos colonizadora e arrogante. Desejamos à leitora-interlocutora, ou ao leitor-interlocutor, uma leitura prazerosa, crítica e problematizadora dessa publicação que se  apresenta como um ensaio, mas com a pretensão e o potencial de contribuir para o avanço dos estudos em torno do campo de interface entre Comunicação e Educação, sempre com o imprescindível respeito às diversidades
