Optimal Unambiguous State Discrimination of two density matrices and its link with the Fidelity
Recently the problem of Unambiguous State Discrimination (USD) of mixed
quantum states has attracted much attention. So far, bounds on the optimum
success probability have been derived [1]. For two mixed states they are given
in terms of the fidelity. Here we give tighter bounds as well as necessary and
sufficient conditions for two mixed states to reach these bounds. Moreover we
construct the corresponding optimal measurement strategies. With this result,
we provide analytical solutions for unambiguous discrimination of a class of
generic mixed states. This goes beyond known results which are all reducible to
some pure state case. Additionally, we show that examples exist where the
bounds cannot be reached.Comment: 10 page

states by studying the corresponding decay with strange
states at LHCb. Interpretation of the results

Borderline and schizotypal traits in college students: Relationship and personality profiles
The relationships between borderline and schizotypal traits are still debated. Borderline traits, schizotypal traits, and several psychopathological symptoms were assessed among 2,341 college students. A factor analysis was performed on borderline and schizotypal personality measures, leading to 10 factors. Borderline factors were largely intercorrelated, as were schizotypal factors. Moreover, borderline factors were weakly to largely correlated to schizotypal factors. Five factors were very strongly correlated (r > .50). Dissociation was strongly related to Odd Beliefs/Unusual Perceptive Experiences and Anxious-Depressive factors. Social Anxiety was strongly related to Suspiciousness. Based on these 10 factors, a cluster analysis was conducted, and resulted in four clearly distinct groups: a Low Traits cluster, a Narcissistic cluster, a Social Anxiety cluster, and a High Traits cluster. This High Traits cluster had the lowest levels of academic achievement and the highest levels of internalizing behaviors and externalizing behaviors. Study of internal structures of 9,10Be and 10B in scattering of 4He from 9Be
A study of inelastic scattering and single-particle transfer reactions was
performed by an alpha beam at 63 MeV on a 9$Be target. Angular distributions of
the differential cross sections for the 9Be(4He,4He')9Be*, 9Be(4He,3He)10Be and
9Be(4He,t)10B reactions were measured. Experimental angular distributions of
the differential cross sections for the ground state and a few low-lying states
were analyzed in the framework of the optical model, coupled channels and
distorted-wave Born approximation. An analysis of the obtained spectroscopic

Spatial distributions in static heavy-light mesons: a comparison of quark models with lattice QCD
Lattice measurements of spatial distributions of the light quark bilinear
densities in static mesons allow to test directly and in detail the wave
functions of quark models. These distributions are gauge invariant quantities
directly related to the spatial distribution of wave functions. We make a
detailed comparison of the recent lattice QCD results with our own quark
models, formulated previously for quite different purposes. We find a striking
agreement not only between our two quark models, but also with the lattice QCD
data for the ground state in an important range of distances up to about 4/GeV.
Moreover the agreement extends to the L=1 states [j^P=(1/2)^+]. An explanation
of several particular features completely at odds with the non-relativistic
approximation is provided. A rather direct, somewhat unexpected and of course
approximate relation between wave functions of certain quark models and QCD has

Dedicated core-on-anvil production of bladelet-like fakes in the Acheulean at Thomas Quarry I - L1 (Casablanca, Morocco)
The ability to produce large cutting tools (LCTs) is considered as the technological marker of the Acheulean and the indicator of a greater technological complexity compared to the previous Oldowan. Although Acheulean techno-complexes are also composed of a concurrent core-and-flake technology, the iconic handaxes have attracted more attention than any other lithic component. Consequently, little is known of the small and medium-sized flake productions (small flaking), especially starting from 1 Ma, when handaxe and cleaver manufacture becomes intensive and widespread across Africa, including the Atlantic coastal regions of Morocco. Research at Thomas Quarry I yielded a rich early Acheulean lithic assemblage, mainly composed of quartzite LCTs and small flaking, together with a small-sized flint production. Here, we report a particular aspect of this flint assemblage, i.e. a flint bladelet-like flake production. This process represents a discrete technical behaviour among those related to small flaking both in quartzite and flint: pebbles were flaked using the bipolar-on-anvil technique repeatedly employing a specific method to produce bladelet-like flakes. This production represents the oldest dated occurrence of bladelet-like technology in Africa and reveals technical competencies hitherto unknown for these periods, providing further elements for the techno-economic diversification of the African Acheulean
A Variational Approach to the Spinless Relativistic Coulomb Problem
By application of a straightforward variational procedure we derive a simple,
analytic upper bound on the ground-state energy eigenvalue of a
semirelativistic Hamiltonian for (one or two) spinless particles which

Determination of the CP Violating Phase by a Sum Over Common Decay Modes to and
To help the difficult determination of the angle of the unitarity
triangle, Aleksan, Dunietz and Kayser have proposed the modes of the type
, common to and . We point out that it is possible
to gain in statistics by a sum over all modes with ground state mesons in the
final state, i.e. , , , .
The delicate point is the relative phase of these different contributions to
the dilution factor of the time-dependent asymmetry. Each contribution to
is proportional to a product where
denotes form factors and decay constants. Within a definite phase
convention, lattice calculations do not show any change in sign when
extrapolating to light quarks the form factors and decay constants. Then, we
can show that all modes contribute constructively to the dilution factor,
except the -wave , which is small. Quark model arguments
based on wave function overlaps also confirm this stability in sign. By summing
over all these modes we find a gain of a factor 6 in statistics relatively to
. The dilution factor for the sum is remarkably stable for
theoretical schemes that are not in very strong conflict with data on or extrapolated from semileptonic charm form factors, giving
