    Is a Lumbar Puncture Necessary? Identifying the need for a LP with a Negative CT Scan when Diagnosing a Non-traumatic Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

    Objective: To assess the current standard for the detection of non-traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and evaluate the need for a lumbar puncture with a negative head CT. Is a negative head CT thorough enough to definitively rule out a SAH? Design: Systematic literature review Methods: Our research began on the PubMed database using the search terms Subarachnoid Hemorrhage and Lumbar Puncture. We filtered our data with filters including; data in the last ten years, primary research, and full text articles. Results: Retrospective studies include; Bianchi et al. (2021), Chee et al. (2020) and Tulla et al.(2018). All three studies showed that a negative CT scan less than 24 hours after presenting symptoms is sufficient imaging in detection of a non-traumatic SAH. Conclusion: There is strong evidence to show that when a patient presents within 24 hours of symptoms suggestive of a SAH, a negative head CT with a third-generation CT scanner is sufficient to rule out a SAH

    Data mining of near Earth asteroids in the Subaru Suprime-Cam archive

    As part of the EURONEAR project, almost 70,000 mosaic Suprime-Cam images taken between 1999 and 2013 were data mined for about 9,800 near Earth asteroids (NEAs) known by 2013 May. Using our PRECOVERY server and the "Find Subaru CCD" tool, we scrutinized 4,186 candidate CCD images possibly holding 518 NEAs. We found 113 NEAs as faint as V<25 magnitude, their positions being measured in 589 images using Astrometrica, then reported to the Minor Planet Center. Among them, 18 objects represent encounters of previously single opposition NEAs, their orbital arcs being extended by up to 10 years. In the second part of this work we searched for unknown NEAs in 78 sequences (780 CCD fields) of 4-5 mosaic images selected from the same Suprime-Cam archive and totaling 16.6 sq.deg, with the aim to assess the faint NEA distribution observable with an 8-m class survey. A total of 2,018 moving objects were measured, from which we identified 18 better NEA candidates. Using the R_c filter in good weather conditions, mostly dark time and sky directions slightly biased towards the ecliptic, at least one NEA could be discovered in every 1 sq.deg surveyed.Comment: Accepted for publication in Astronomical Nachrichten (7 Jan 2017

    Disability and poverty: the need for a more nuanced understanding of implications for development policy and practice

    The international development community is beginning to recognise that people with disabilities constitute among the poorest and most vulnerable of all groups and thus must be a core issue in development policies and programmes. Yet, the relationship between disability and poverty remains ill-defined and under-researched, with few studies providing robust and verifiable data that examines the intricacies of this relationship. A second, linked issue is the need for – and current lack of – criteria to assess whether and how disability-specific and disability ‘mainstreamed’ or ‘inclusive’ programmes work in combating the exclusion, marginalisation and poverty of people with disabilities. This article reviews existing knowledge and theory regarding the disability/poverty nexus. Using both established theoretical constructs and field based data, it attempts to identify what knowledge gaps exist and need to be addressed with future research

    Comparing world regional sustainable supply chain finance using big data analytics:A bibliometric analysis

    Purpose: Sustainable supply chain finance (SSCF) is a fascinated consideration for both academics and practitioners because the indicators are still underdeveloped in achieving SSCF. This study proposes a bibliometric data-driven analysis from the literature to illustrate a clear overall concept of SSCF that reveals hidden indicators for further improvement. Design/methodology/approach: A hybrid quantitative and qualitative approach combining data-driven analysis, fuzzy Delphi method (FDM), entropy weight method (EWM) and fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (FDEMATEL) is employed to address the uncertainty in the context. Findings: The results show that blockchain, cash flow shortage, reverse factoring, risk assessment and triple bottom line (TBL) play significant roles in SSCF. A comparison of the challenges and gaps among different geographic regions is provided in both advanced local perspective and a global state-of-the-art assessment. There are 35 countries/territories being categorized into five geographic regions. Of the five regions, two, Latin America and the Caribbean and Africa, show the needs for more improvement, exclusively in collaboration strategies and financial crisis. Exogenous impacts of wars, natural disasters and disease epidemics are implied as inevitable attributes for enhancing the sustainability. Originality/value: This study contributes to (1) boundary SSCF foundations by data driven, (2) identifying the critical SSCF indicators and providing the knowledge gaps and directions as references for further examination and (3) addressing the gaps and challenges in different geographic regions to provide advanced assessment from local viewpoint and to diagnose the comprehensive global state of the art of SSCF
