Proliferative activity of salivary tumor cells

    Get PDF
Salivary carcinomas comprise 2-3 % of malignant tumors of the head and neck. The basic method of morphological study in early diagnostics is aspiration puncture with a fine needle (FNAB). Complex histologic structure and great diversity of morphological items complicate cytologic diagnostics of salivary tumors considerably. Immunocytochemical examination must be used to reduce the errors, it enables to reveal neoplastic cells at early stages of malignization. High proliferative activity of tumor cells is one of their biological peculiarities. Accuracy in differential diagnostics between benign and malignant tumors is improved through determination of mitotic index combined with a fine needle aspiration puncture

Safety and Immunogenicity in Neonatal Mice of a Hyperattenuated Listeria Vaccine Directed against Human Immunodeficiency Virus

CD8(+) T cells are a major component of the adaptive response of a host to infections by viruses and other intracellular pathogenic agents. However, because of the intrinsic immaturity of the immune system of neonatal animals, neonates are highly sensitive to a variety of pathogens and may be unable to respond in a protective manner. Here we explore whether a hyperattenuated strain of Listeria monocytogenes that can be used as a live vaccine vector in adults is safe and able to induce an effective response in neonates. We answer both questions affirmatively

Local Lagrange interpolation with bivariate splines of arbitrary smoothness

We describe a method which can be used to interpolate function values at a set of scattered points in a planar domain using bivariate polynomial splines of any prescribed smoothness. The method starts with an arbitrary given triangulation of the data points, and involves refining some of the triangles with Clough-Tocher splits. The construction of the interpolating splines requires some additional function values at selected points in the domain, but no derivatives are needed at any point. Given n data points and a corresponding initial triangulation, the interpolating spline can be computed in just O(n) operations. The interpolation method is local and stable, and provides optimal order approximation of smooth functions. © 2005 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc

Functional characteristics of serotoninergic nerves stimulating stomach and intestinal contractions

    Get PDF
Aim of review. To summarize the study of serotoninergic nerves stimulating the stomach and intestinal contractions. Key points. The authors established the fact that irritation of sympathetic trunk (ST) in in the chest cavity of dogs in most of the cases cause not inhibition, but rather stimulation of stomach contractions. The stimulatory effect is amplified at block of sympathetic nerve by Ornidum, and is eliminated by block of serotoninergic receptors of autonomic ganglia neurons by trimeperidine hydrochloride. It demonstrates that ST partially consists of serotoninergic nerves. Stimulatory effect for the stomach considerably exceeds brake action of sympathetic nerve. Comparative analysis of serotoninergic nerve functional properties versus sympathetic nerve was carried out. Serotoninergic nerve (as well as sympathetic) - is complex structure, that includes sympathetic trunks and their branches innervating internal organs. Conclusion. Block of serotoninergic nerve stimulation function by trimeperidine hydrochloride to our opinion may be the cause of postoperative constipation in patients who received trimeperidine hydrochloride

InP Gunn diodes with a cathode contact injecting hot electrons. Part 1. Interactions between phases in the cathode contacts

    No full text
The article presents the research on interactions between phases in the Ge–Au, Ge–TiBx and Au–TiBxAu contacts to n–n+–n++-InP, both before and after rapid thermal annealing, and also the output parameters of Gunn diodes based on the InP structure with Au–TiBx–Au–Ge contact metallization in the –40...+60 °С temperature range. It is shown that ohmic contacts to InP layer are formed as a result of diffusion of Ge and Au atoms deep inside the layer. The output parameters of Gunn diodes with Au–TiBx–Au–Ge cathode contacts agree with the data obtained for InP Gunn diodes made with the use of more complicated technology
