Objective: Objective of the present investigation is to develop a speedy isocratic reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method for the separation and quantitative determination of 5 angiotensin II - receptor antagonists, namely, telmisartan, losartan, valsartan, olmesartan, irbesartan, and atenolol along with thiazide diuretics mostly hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ).Methods: RP-HPLC method was evolved using Welchrom C18 column (4.6 × 250 mm, 5 μm) as a stationary phase with the mobile phase comprising a variety of phosphate buffer with pH-3.3 and acetonitrile in the proportion of 50:50 v/v. The mobile phase was pumped at a current rate of 1 mL/minute. The detection wavelength was carried out at 230 nm.Results: The total run time was 6 minutes and the elution window of only 3 minutes. The peaks were eluted with decorous resolution. The calibration curves were linear (r2=0.9998) in all cases. The percentage relative standard deviation (RSD%) was <2% and average recovery was above 99.95%. The method was validated specificity, precision, and accuracy. High recovery values and low RSD% prove that this method is very accurate and reproducible. The developed method was applied to the estimation of the above-said drugs in binary combinations from different manufacturers which were a good agreement with label claim. Conclusion: The important advantage of developed method was that the five individual drugs can be determined on a single chromatographic system without alteration in detection wavelength and mobile phase composition. This novel method was statistically validated as per ICH guidelines. The optimized method proved to be linear, accurate, and robust. Hence, the above said proposed method was found to be a rapid tool for the routine determination of the above-said drugs in alone or combination with HCTZ in quality control analysis without interference of excipients

Aluminium 2014 alloy solutionized at 495°C, aged at 195°C was subjected to Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP). Dry sliding wear tests were conducted using pin on disc tribometer system under nominal loads of 10N and 30N with constant speed 2m/s for 2000m in order to investigate their wear behavior after ECAP. The Co-efficient of friction and loss in volume were decreased after ECAP. The dominant wear mechanism observed was adhesion, delamination in addition to these wear mechanisms, oxidation and transfer of Fe from the counter surface to the Al 2014 pin were observed at higher loading condition. The corrosion behavior was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 3.5% NaCl solution. The results obtained from PDP showed higher corrosion potential and lower corrosion density after ECAP than base. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) showed higher charge transfer resistance after ECAP. Surface morphology showed decreased pit size and increased oxygen content in ECAP sample than base after PDP

    Get PDF
India is basically an agriculture country and the dairy sector plays a significant role in supplementing family income and generating employment in the rural areas, particularly among the landless, small and marginal farmers and farm women, besides providing cheap and nutritious food to millions of people. In India, the total milk production is extremely poor in terms of productivity in the world due to lack of proper extension system. Even though, information on various aspects of dairy cattle management is available, they are not reaching the required area of the farm units / farmers. To address this problem, a rule based expert system for dairy cattle management was developed with user friendly menus. This system interacts with users in two ways. As a decision support tool, the user can interact with the system using some arranged rules which are collection of if / then rules, collected from experts in the veterinary field. Using these rules, a knowledge base was designed for the expert system and programming codes were writeen in VB. Net. The proposed expert system provides instant access of the required knowledge on selected parameters, viz. feeding, breeding, diseases, cattle shed management, milking, fodder cultivation and health management. This expert system is useful as an online guide to the users who are involved in animal husbandry and dairy management

The consequences of financial fraud are an issue with far-reaching for investors, lenders, regulators, corporate sectors and consumers. The range of development of new technologies such as cloud and mobile computing in recent years has compounded the problem. Manual detection which is a traditional method is not only inaccurate, expensive and time-consuming but also they are impractical for the management of big data. Auditors, financial institutions and regulators have tried to automated processes using statistical and computational methods. This paper presents comprehensive research in financial statement fraud detection by using machine learning techniques with a particular focus on computational intelligence (CI) techniques. We have collected a sample of 2469 observations since 2002 to 2015. Research gap was identified as none of the existing researchers address the association between financial statement fraud and CI-based detection algorithms and their performance, as reported in the literature. Also, the innovation of this research is that the selection of data sample is aimed to create models which will be capable of detecting the falsification in financial statements

A multi-spectroscopic study for the characterization and definition of production techniques of German ceramic sherds

    Get PDF
The aim of this archaeometric study is to recover information regarding technological processes and raw materials used for the production of ceramic sherds coming from five central and Eastern German sites, between Lower Saxony and Saxony states. The ceramic fragments have been investigated by a multi-spectroscopic approach: Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), micro-Raman spectroscopy and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) were employed to characterize both ceramic bodies and glazes. Moreover the innovative application of Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) on ceramic findings has been proposed and evaluated. Chemical and mineralogical composition, as well as microstructure, of ceramic mixture and glaze are correlated to native material composition and firing temperature, which have become a fundamental features in archaeometric research and play a key role in understanding the provenance of the pottery and its production techniques. The multi-spectroscopic approach applied in this work has enabled the ability to characterize the ceramic sherds and to investigate through non-destructive techniques both ceramic glaze and matrix giving information regarding the raw materials and pigments/colourants used, and regarding firing temperature and technology. The present study carried on using complementary methods suggests different raw material sources and temperature kilns. These data are in agreement with the location of ceramic sites and with data in literature. Furthermore, the interesting results suggest that non-destructive techniques, such as LIF and Raman spectroscopy, are promising methods for ceramic and glaze characterization. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V.
