    Gossip Codes for Fingerprinting: Construction, Erasure Analysis and Pirate Tracing

    This work presents two new construction techniques for q-ary Gossip codes from tdesigns and Traceability schemes. These Gossip codes achieve the shortest code length specified in terms of code parameters and can withstand erasures in digital fingerprinting applications. This work presents the construction of embedded Gossip codes for extending an existing Gossip code into a bigger code. It discusses the construction of concatenated codes and realisation of erasure model through concatenated codes.Comment: 28 page

    Isolation and Biomedical Screening of the Tissue Extracts of Two Marine Gastropods Hemifusus pugilinus (Born, 1778) and Natica didyma (Roding, 1798)

    The in vitro antibacterial activity of the acetone and methanol extracts of the marine gastropods Hemifusus pugilinus (Born, 1778) and Natica didyma (Roding, 1798) were tested against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Enterobacter aerogenes following standard disc diffusion method. Highest activity (19.3±0.39 mm) was observed in the methanol extract of N. didyma against E. coli. The extracts were also subjected to anti-inflammatory activity using human red blood cell (HRBC) membrane stabilisation method. All the extracts exhibited antiinflammatory activity, and was high in the acetone extract of H. pugilinus (72.58±1.66%) at 1mL concentration. However, the control drug hydrocortisone exhibited significantly higher activity than the tissue extracts of both the animals. The extracts were screened for their alpha amylase inhibitory activity also and all the extracts inhibited the alpha amylase enzyme activity. Among the mollusc extracts, maximum inhibition was observed in H. pugilinus acetone extract at 50 μL concentration (72.23±0.44%). But, the control drug (Acarbose) had significantly higher inhibitory action than the tissue extracts of both the animals. The amount of protein was comparatively high in the tissue of both H. pugilinus (1.34±5.63 μg.mL-1) and N. didyma (0.90±4.37 μg.mL-1) than carbohydrates and lipids

    Major depressive disorder with peripartum onset or peripartum depression is a common condition experienced by a large proportion of women and to some extent even in men. The current treatment strategies involve the use of conventional pharmacotherapeutic classes of drugs like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) and psychotherapy methods in the management of this condition. In this article, we try to review and evaluate the pathophysiology of the condition along with the safety and efficacy of the novel investigational therapeutic drug zuranolone, which is a synthetic neuroactive steroid (NAS) that has shown promise in clinical trials for the management of conditions like major depressive disorder, peripartum depression and bipolar disorder. The synthetic NAS zuranolone is an orally bioavailable positive allosteric modulator of the gamma amino butyric acid (GABAA) receptor, which can regulate the action of the GABAergic pathway implicated in many depressive episodes and also affect the normal functioning of the hypothalmo pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis which is the core pathophysiological cause behind major depressive disorder with peripartum onset

    Moving object detection is an interesting area in the field of video tracking. When the object is moving then tracking that is challenging task in vision area. This paper is about detecting, tracking of moving objects from the source. Many image processing methods to detect and track the moving object from the source was proposed, but those methods require more time to implement and is complex. This paper gives information about the moving object detection based on the tracking mean shift algorithm. LABVIEW vision module introduces a recent algorithm for object detection and tracking, in this algorithm current location is searched based on the histogram of the object in the previous image frame and result of mean shift is used to find the peak of probability density function near the object old position. Initial location of the target object need to be determined for this to work correctly. Mean shift is an effective algorithm that has so many application especially in the field of computer vision like clustering, object contour detection etc

    The Transportation Primitive

    This paper presents algorithms for implementing the transportation primitive on a distributed memory parallel architecture. The transportation primitive performs many-to-many personalized communication with bounded incoming and outgoing traffic. We present a two-stage deterministic algorithm that decomposes the communication with possibly high variance in message size into two communication stages with low message size variance. If the maximum outgoing or incoming traffic at any processor is t, transportation can be done in 2t¯ time (+ lower order terms) when t O(p 2 + pø=¯) (¯ is the inverse of the data transfer rate, ø is the startup overhead). If the maximum outgoing and incoming traffic are r and c respectively, transportation can be done in (r+c)¯ time when either r O(p 2 ) or c O(p 2 ). Optimality and scalability are thus achieved when the traffic is large, a condition that is usually satisfied in practice. The algorithm was implemented on the Connection Machine CM-5. The implementation used the low latency communication primitives (active messages) available on the CM 5, but the algorithm as such is architecture independent. An alternate single-stage algorithm using distributed random scheduling was implemented on the CM-5 and the performance of the two algorithms were compared

    Categorical Milnor squares and K-theory of algebraic stacks

    We introduce a notion of Milnor square of stable \infty-categories and prove a criterion under which algebraic K-theory sends such a square to a cartesian square of spectra. We apply this to prove Milnor excision and proper excision theorems in the K-theory of algebraic stacks with affine diagonal and nice stabilizers. This yields a generalization of Weibel's conjecture on the vanishing of negative K-groups for this class of stacks
