This work entitled "From informality to academia; an address of the juvenile literary practices "this has as purpose the study and analysis of the relationship between young people and literature and the observation of the reading phenomena that underlie their intimacy. It is understood and conceived the realization of readings of literary texts by young people outside of an academic environment, which is characterized by its purely entertainment function. The part of the vision and conceptualization of postmodern readers, cybernetic readers and the phenomenon of connectivism that involves a dynamic and constant confluence of information and social interaction. Likewise, it is analyzed the social phenomena and interactions that are presented and detected in the population around the reading of the texts, which, since the vision of literature teacher has been complex to perceive.
Taking into account these aspects, the research exposes an exercise of a participatory action research (PAR) where at first the basis of all the results of the information given by the young people and the observations by the researcher for a second time, perform interventions by those who make up this research. To develop it, an execution plan is proposed in conjunction with research strategies and intervention instruments, a description of the categories of analysis of the phenomena and situations in the same place is made.Magíster en LiteraturaMaestrí
The export strategy of the Spanish wine industry
Aim of study: This study analyses how business strategy has influenced the export performance of the Spanish wine industry. In recent decades, Spain has been among those countries that have significantly increased their wine exports.
Area of study: We used data collected from a survey comprising 339 Spanish wine-making companies
Material and methods: The empirical analysis was carried out by sending a survey and subsequent telephone call to all the independent wineries belonging to PDOs, the number of responses was 339, 14% of the sample. Using the Heckman methodology, we analysed the variables that determine the decision to export and the export intensity.
Main results: Spanish firms have successfully used different combined strategies in order to achieve an intensification of exports. This implies that the joint use of strategies that seek efficiency (through cost reduction) while increasing value for the customer (through innovation and improved communication processes and distribution) achieve an increase in the internationalisation of the company. Therefore, the results of this study add new strategic alternatives to those traditionally proposed by the literature
Research highlights: Firm strategy also has an effect on export performance in the Spanish wine industry. To grow in international markets, companies can use a combination of different strategic options
Domestic clustered networks and internationalization of agrifood SMEs
This paper examines how participating in domestic clustered networks in the agri-food industry affects the export status and export intensity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The Uppsala internationalization process model has been revisited in light of the knowledge that these networks can contribute to promoting the presence of SMEs abroad. The study uses a sample of companies in the Spanish wine industry and characterizes 76 domestic clustered business networks (Protected Designations of Origin). The value and originality of the paper reside in its contribution in terms of measuring the degree of internationalization of domestic clustered networks to which SMEs belong. It also assesses the effect of these networks on the internationalization process of the agri-food industry, considering that domestic clustered networks with a strong international commitment generate greater internationalization opportunities. Ross and Ross-Konno procedure in pediatric patients: ¿is the age a risk factor?
Introduction and objectives
Severe aortic valve stenosis in pediatric population represents a real surgical challenge. Therapeutic options are highly complex, especially in children under one year of age. Ross procedure is indicated in those cases where surgical repair or balloon valvuloplasty has not been feasible. The aim of the study is compare the postoperative outcomes and in the follow-up of patients under one year with all the patients who underwent Ross / Ross-Konno procedure in our centre.
Methods
Consecutive patients operated in our centre with these two procedures for the last ten years were collected. During this period, 11 patients were operated (5 Ross and 6 Ross-Konno) of which 3 corresponded to patients under one year of age.
Results
Hospital mortality is 9,1% (1 patient) with a 10-year survival of 90,9%. The reoperations percentage is 72,7%, higher in patients less than 1-year-old (100% vs. 62,5%). Only one patient required an autograft reoperation in the adulthood. The right ventricle outflow tract reoperation rate is 64,6% at 10 years.
Conclusions
Postoperative mortality and survival at 10 years of patients operated on during the first year of life does not differ from the rest of older patients, although the rate of reoperations in the follow-up is higher in this subgroup of patients
Revision of previous Fontan connections to total extracardiac cavopulmonary anastomosis: A multicenter experience
AbstractBackground: Conversion to total extracardiac cavopulmonary anastomosis is an option for managing patients with dysfunction of a prior Fontan connection. Methods: Thirty-one patients (19.9 ± 8.8 years) underwent revision of a previous Fontan connection to total extracardiac cavopulmonary anastomosis at four institutions. Complications of the previous Fontan connection included atrial tachyarrhythmias (n = 20), progressive heart failure (n = 17), Fontan pathway obstruction (n = 10), effusions (n = 10), pulmonary venous obstruction by an enlarged right atrium (n = 6), protein-losing enteropathy (n = 3), right atrial thrombus (n = 2), subaortic stenosis (n = 1), atrioventricular valve regurgitation (n = 3), and Fontan baffle leak (n = 5). Conversion to an extracardiac cavopulmonary connection was performed with a nonvalved conduit from the inferior vena cava to the right pulmonary artery, with additional procedures as necessary. Results: There have been 3 deaths. Two patients died in the perioperative period of heart failure and massive effusions. The third patient died suddenly 8 months after the operation. All surviving patients were in New York Heart Association class I (n = 20) or II (n = 7), except for 1 patient who underwent heart transplantation. Early postoperative arrhythmias occurred in 10 patients: 4 required pacemakers, and medical therapy was sufficient in 6. In 15 patients, pre-revision arrhythmias were improved. Effusions resolved in all but 1 of the patients in whom they were present before revision. The condition of 2 patients with protein-losing enteropathy improved within 30 days. Conclusions: Conversion of a failing Fontan connection to extracardiac cavopulmonary connection can be achieved with low morbidity and mortality. Optimally, revision should be undertaken early in symptomatic patients before irreversible ventricular failure ensues. (J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg 2000;119:340-6
