Preprocessing of Prithvi Post Flight data for Parameter Identification

    Get PDF
This document presents the methods of preprocessing flight data . The data acquired during flight test contain data spikes and- noise, due to various reasons and requires processing . of data to remove spikes and noise before they are used for any analysis. For this purpose a finite difference method for editing the flight data 'to remove the spikes and Fast Fourier Transfort (FFT) method for filtering the flight data to remove the noise have been used . A software package "PREVRD' incorporating these methods has been developed . The spectral analysis via FFT to select cut-off frequency for filtering has also been incorporated in the PREPRO . The package is validated . using test example and is used successfully for processing PRITHVI post flight data

Flight Data Analysis and Parameter Estimation for LCA - Phase III - Final Report

    Get PDF
The Document Briefly Describes The Major Tasks Accomplished In Phase III Of The Project . Flight Test Data Were Generated From Planned Maneuvers At Various Test Points In The Flight Envelope. The Analysis Was No Longer Restricted To Small Amplitude Maneuvers ; Data From Large Amplitude Maneuvers Were Analyzed As Well To Obtain Parameter Estimates Over A Wider Range Of Angle Of Attack . Most Of The Estimates Adhered Closely To The Trends Predicted By Wind Tunnel Database And There Were No Major Surprises Except For The Reduction In Direction Stability And Aileron Control Effectiveness . Results Were Also Obtained For Coefficient Level Matching, Drag-Polar Estimation And Flight Data Analysis With Airbrakes . The Tasks Carried Out Are Discussed In Detail In The Interim Reports/Project Documents (A Complete List Is Provided At The End Of The Report). The Document Also Highlights Certain. Issues That Need To Be Investigated

Exploring the User Experiences of a Bird ID Mobile App Among College Students in Western India

    Get PDF
This study explores user experiences of a sample of college age young adults from western India, with a bird ID mobile app. Mobile apps provide an attractive and interactive access to information and their reach and versatility can often bypass challenges of poor infrastructure and lack of access to sources for information. Studies that examine the influence of mobile apps on users’ knowledge and awareness are still in their infancy. Mobile phones and mobile applications have become increasingly prevalent in the educational setting, not only as technology for instructional delivery, but also as a means of improving user experience when accessing information. Researchers have been studying the usability features and end- user experiences from mobile applications for innovative design improvements (Tang, Abraham, Stamp & Greaves, 2015). Despite its potential to impact learning and user attitude, very limited research exists on how passive interactions with certain content specific mobile applications may increase users’ knowledge and awareness on issues of contemporary importance to our society. Therefore, given the ever-growing reach of mobile devices and applications, the researcher is interested in exploring if a mobile app that allows users to identify the birds of western India, influences their knowledge and awareness of birds around them. This study will provide insight on how mobile apps may be designed to provide unique experiences leading to awareness and change in conservation knowledge and perception

Optimizing Ferroelectric Nanowire FET for Sub-60mV/decade Sub-threshold Slope

    Get PDF
Limitations in traditional scaling methods require novel devices to increase computational density without scaling down device size. Ferroelectric materials’ negative capacitance property reduces the subthreshold slope beyond the previous theoretical ideal of 60 mV/decade and improves computational density without reducing transistor size. The research herein characterizes fields in isolated ferroelectric material, ferroelectric-oxide interfaces, and ferroelectric material integrated in the gate-stack of a ferroelectric nanowire-FET (FeNW) to achieve sub 60 mV/decade subthreshold slope. The research attains sub 60 mV/decade subthreshold slope across multiple FeNW configurations, and subsequently provides a ferroelectric-to-oxide capacitance, ratio-based design method to approaching sub-60 mV/decade subthreshold slope and narrowing the device design space. The research concludes by disclosing design tradeoffs when attaining sub 60 mV/decade subthreshold slope, to provide an engineer or physicist insight on the applications and limitations of the present state of ferroelectric nanowires and ferroelectric FETs

Telling Tales for Justice and Equity: Storytelling as Public Nepantla Pedagogy

    Get PDF
As the COVID-19 pandemic led to schools moving to online platforms, I launched Tell-a-Tale, a livestreamed, biweekly read-aloud program for children. I designed and implemented each episode to include diverse children’s literature, followed by an artistic response, and finally a discussion about issues of equity and justice. Applying public pedagogy as a theoretical construct, I used this platform to create a space of “public intellectualism and social activism” (Sandlin, O’Malley, Burdick, 2011, p. 338). In this paper I will describe how I used “the pandemic as a portal” (Roy, 2020) to make space for historically marginalized stories and voices take center-stage

Analysis of stabilised output error methods

    Get PDF
In the paper, analysis of stabilised output-error methods (SOEMs) for parameter estimation of unstable aircrafts presented. These methods overcome the numerical difficulties encountered in parameter estimation of unstable systems by utilising measured states. The methods, along with the output error method (OEM) and the equation error method (EEM), are briefly described for the sake of comparison. However, the main idea of the paper is to present asymptotic analysis of the SOEM. The results of application of SOEMs to simulated data of an unstable/augmented aircraft are presented

    On the orbit determination problem

    Get PDF
Various important aspects of the satellite orbit determination problem are critically discussed with a view to emphasizing the importance of a wise choice of suitable system models, coordinates sets, and estimators. We describe several aspects of the orbit determination process and also review much of the available literature on the application of Kalman filter type algorithms to the problem of near-Earth, geosynchronous, and deep-space mission type orbit determination are also addressed. It is believed that this review with a touch of tutorial will enable engineers and scientists to arrive at an orbit determination methodology (ODM) that will have attributes of good numerical stability, efficiency, and precision in orbit estimation
