Distribution Generation plays a significant role in remote areas where the utility grid is affected and initializing by renewable energy sources to acquire the sufficient power demand. In distribution system, it is very exigent consumer related concern which is confronted due to mis-operation of massive non-linear load apparatus. A multi-functional distributed static compensator incorporates the best choice for enhancing the power quality features with effective control scheme under rambled non-linear loads. Conventional control schemes are more adversed with greater switching losses due to extreme harmonic frequencies in a refernce current component. This paper proposes, a novel multi-objective fundamental reference current control scheme based multi-functional DSTATCOM furnishes the current harmonic compensation at PCC, reactive power compensation, power factor correction, active power exchanging, minimizing the switching losses, incredible efficiency and power factor correction. The validation of proposed multi-functional DSTATCOM with proposed control strategy under rated capacity of distribution generation is evaluated by using Matlab/Simulink platform and simulation results are presented

Geometric Scaling of Plates Subjected to Mine Blast

In the design of AFVs, study of structures subjected to land mine blast is important. Generally, blast related experimental studies are very time consuming and costly. A simple first cut alternative is finite element modelling and analysis. Here, modelling of mine and simulating the blast effect involves large number of mesh elements, which makes the model computationally intensive and time consuming. Hence, instead of using full scale model for analysis, a suitable scaled down model would reduce analysis time and leads to a faster DOE studies. A proper scaling mechanism is to be evolved in order to get accurate results. Discusses about the scaling of plate subjected to mine blast using dimensional analysis approach. The out-of-plane surface deformation, including velocity fields during the blast loading are compared between the scaled and unscaled plate

PRONIOSOMES: A VESICULAR DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

    Get PDF
In the development of new dosage forms, drug delivery using nanotechnology is playing a vital role. Vesicular drug delivery systems have gained wide attention in the field of nanotechnology, such as niosomes, liposomes and proniosomes. Among the vesicular carriers, proniosomes are superior. Proniosomes are water-soluble carrier particles that are coated with surfactant so these are dry formulations. They are rehydrated to use on agitation in hot aqueous media within minutes to form niosomal dispersion immediately. Both hydrophilic and lipophilic drugscan be incorporated into these proteasomes. The physical stability problems of niosomes like aggregation, fusion and leaking are minimized in proniosomes, routes, such as oral, parenteral, dermal and transdermal, ocular, oral mucosal, vaginal, pulmonary, and intranasal. Proniosomes prolong the existence of the drug in the systemic circulation and finally reduces toxicity. This review focuses on different aspects of proniosomes such as preparation, characterization, in vitro drug release, entrapment efficiency, applications in the present scenario in the market and future trends

Impact of farmer producer organization on organic chilli production in Telangana, India

33-43Input intensive modern agriculture is adversely affecting human health and environment. Farmers of Telangana state have taken up organic chilli production with the assistance of FPOs. Primary data was collected from 120 farmers comprising 60 members and 60 non-members of FPO from two districts of Telangana through semi-structured interviews. The study found that the shift to organic chilli cultivation led to decrease in input use by 9.06% and yield by 23.4%. However, the gross return from organic chilli farming was 13.85% higher over that realised by non-members due to the efforts of FPOs. DEA analysis revealed that a higher proportion of member farmers (48%) had technical efficiency of more than 60% as compared to non-members (18%). FPOs were instrumental in reduction of transaction cost and number of intermediaries leading to the realization of a higher proportion of producer’s share in consumer’s rupee (65%). Discriminant function analysis revealed that the FPO promoting institutions (44%), ease of doing business (16%) and infrastructure facilities like storage, irrigation, electricity and credit have high influence on performance of the states with respect to FPOs

Timing Offset Calibration of CZTI instrument aboard ASTROSAT

The radio as well as the high energy emission mechanism in pulsars is yet not understood properly. A multi-wavelength study is likely to help in better understanding of such processes. The first Indian space-based observatory, ASTROSAT, has five instruments aboard, which cover the electromagnetic spectrum from infra-red (1300 A˚\AA) to hard X-ray (380 KeV). Cadmium Zinc Telluride Imager (CZTI), one of the five instruments is a hard X-ray telescope functional over an energy range of 20-380 KeV. We aim to estimate the timing offset introduced in the data acquisition pipeline of the instrument, which will help in time alignment of high energy time series with those from two other ground-based observatories, viz. the Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope (GMRT) and the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT). PSR B0531+21 is a well-studied pulsar with nearly aligned radio and hard X-ray pulse profiles. We use simultaneous observations of this pulsar with the ASTROSAT, the ORT and the GMRT. The pulsar was especially observed using the ORT with almost daily cadence to obtain good timing solutions. We also supplement the ORT data with archival FERMI data for estimation of timing noise. The timing offset of ASTROSAT instruments was estimated from fits to arrival time data at the ASTROSAT and the radio observatories. We estimate the offset between the GMRT and the ASTROSAT-CZTI to be -4716 ±\pm 50 μs\mu s. The corresponding offset with the ORT was -29639 ±\pm 50 μs\mu s. The offsets between the GMRT and Fermi-LAT -5368 ±\pm 56 μs\mu s. (Abridged)Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, 2 tables, Revised and Updated, accepted for publication in A&

Experimental Evaluation of Strength Degradation Temperature for Carbon Epoxy Filament Wound Composite

    Get PDF
Polymeric composites have been widely used in various structural and thermal aerospace applications. Polymeric composites having high strength and high modulus reinforcement are ideally suited for lot of critical aerospace applications as structure is designed with high specific strength and high specific modulus. In case of launch vehicles/ missile one such application is design and manufacturing of solid rocket motor casing with polymeric composites as it give high performance and reduces inert weight of propulsion system. The high specific strength and high specific modulus of composite materials makes it ideal choice for designing the composite rocket motor case (CRMC). These are manufactured with filament winding process. As per ASTM D 2290 test method, the apparent tensile strength can be evaluated by preparing ring specimens from filament wound shell which simulates the hoop winding and cylindrical geometry of composite motor case. During flight in trajectory, the temperature on external surface of rocket motor will rise due to kinetic heating as result of aerodynamic drag. The mechanical properties of FRP composites degrades beyond certain temperature, depending primarily upon resin system and its glass transition temperature (Tg). In present work, the method of ring fabrication using filament winding is used to prepare test samples to experimentally test and evaluate apparent tensile strength with temperature of Carbon Epoxy composite. The tensile test at ambient is also done on specimens made from carbon Epoxy laminate using filament winding technique and are compared with ring test results.. The Glass Transition temperature (Tg) for Carbon Epoxy is also determined with Dry Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) techniqu
