Eating Attitudes and its Psychological Correlates among Female College Students
The purpose of the present study was to find out the prevalence and psychological correlates of abnormal eating attitudes in female college students in the city of Chennai Tamil Nadu Two hundred undergraduates with mean age 19 0 years from five premiere colleges affiliated to the University of Madras were administered the Eating Attitudes Test EAT-26 Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale State Trait Anxiety Inventory and Beck Depression Inventory Abnormal eating attitudes EAT-26 score 20 were found in 30 of the total sample Use of Pearson Correlation and independent t-test revealed that participants who had abnormal eating attitudes had scored higher levels of depression and higher levels of both state as well as trait anxiety than those with normal eating attitudes Eat-26 score 20 No significant correlation was found between low self esteem and abnormal eating attitudes Further abnormal eating was not related to weigh as assessed using the body mass index BMI The present findings indicate a substantial prevalence of abnormal eating attitudes among female college students and also abnormal eating attitudes related to psychological characteristics such as anxiety and depression The above findings highlight the need for the attention of clinicians community workers and psychologists to curtail the risk of increase in eating disorders among this populatio
Lineage tracing of axial progenitors using Nkx1-2CreERT2 mice defines their trunk and tail contributions
The vertebrate body forms by continuous generation of new tissue from progenitors at the posterior end of the embryo. The study of these axial progenitors has proved challenging in vivo largely due to the lack of unique molecular markers to identify them. Here, we elucidate the expression pattern of the transcription factor Nkx1-2 in the mouse embryo and show that it identifies axial progenitors throughout body axis elongation, including neuromesodermal progenitors and early neural and mesodermal progenitors. We create a tamoxifen-inducible Nkx1-2CreERT2 37 transgenic mouse and exploit the conditional nature of this line to uncover the lineage contributions of Nkx1-2-expressing cells at specific stages. We show that early Nkx1-2-expressing epiblast cells contribute to all three germ layers, mostly neuroectoderm and mesoderm, excluding notochord. Our data are consistent with the presence of some self-renewing axial progenitors that continue to generate neural and mesoderm tissues from the tail bud. This study identifies Nkx1-2 expressing cells as the source of most trunk and tail tissues in the mouse and provides a useful tool to genetically label and manipulate axial progenitors in vivo

Evaluation of the intrapreneurship orientation in a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in KwaZulu-Natal.
Master’s Degree. University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban. The pharmaceutical industry in South Africa is considered a knowledge-intensive sector, with sophisticated consumers, world-class clinical skills, excellent infrastructure, and an established policy and regulatory environment. However, recent global business disruptions, including the COVID-19 pandemic, with its ensuing socio-economic sequelae, have highlighted the importance of an innovation or intrapreneurship orientation in pharmaceutical companies, where agility and responsiveness is pivotal - not just for surviving, but also thriving and creating value. It is in this context that intrapreneurship can be leveraged to spur innovation, augment business renewal, enhance organisational performance and ensure sustainability. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the nature and extent of the intrapreneurship orientation of the company’s managerial employees, to identify the strengths and weaknesses that influence intrapreneurship orientation at the company, to investigate the relationship between the company’s intrapreneurship orientation and organisational culture, and finally to explore strategies to augment the intrapreneurship orientation of the company’s managers. This sequential mixed methods explanatory study evaluated the nature and extent of intrapreneurship orientation of a pharmaceutical manufacturing company located in KwaZulu-Natal, using a sample of 55 managers, employing a self-administered online questionnaire for the quantitative research phase, and a focus group discussion of 10 managers for the qualitative research phase. The findings revealed a suboptimal intrapreneurship orientation, with weaknesses revolving around the management support, organisational structure and culture, as well as the availability and orchestration of resources. The organisation’s strengths were underpinned by the proactiveness and learning orientation of its managerial employees. Recommendations to the organisation include the development of a structure for innovation and intrapreneurship, the performance of a cultural survey as a first step in establishing a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous learning, and the development and implementation of an innovation balanced scorecard to manage innovation-related performance

Adaptive QoS Management framework for Collaborative Multimedia Applications in Wired and Wireless Networks
Guaranteeing quality of service to the heterogeneous media formats, for streaming and non-streaming multimedia applications, is a challenge that is being addressed individually at the different system layers. However for multimedia applications that aim to collaborate with users connecting via a wireless gateway to a fixed network or collaborating between all wireless users, poses new issues that need to be resolved. New generation multimedia conferencing applications require a new solution framework for handling data that would take into consideration network and data heterogeneity. The domain of focus in this thesis can be stated in two parts – • Managing QoS while collaborating multimedia data in wired-cum-wireless scenarios • Defining a new interaction and forwarding mechanism for adaptive QoS framework at wireless gateway In this thesis we propose a adaptation algorithm that considers both the user preference of data formats for information exchange and the current channel condition estimated by packet losses incurred in a transmission cycle. This helps to decide the service level of the collaboration and the data format to be processed at the application layer. The middlewar
