Handbook of Research on Assertiveness, Clarity, and Positivity in Health Literacy

Health literacy in practice requires the development of techniques that ensure that the patient can better access information, understand its content, know how to use this information, and make better health decisions. If the patient makes better health decisions, there are immediate reflexes in health outcomes. The aim is to develop an approach based on the commitment and creation of an atmosphere of trust that reduces uncertainty, anxiety, and embarrassment based on a process of assertive, clear, and positive communication (ACP model). The Handbook of Research on Assertiveness, Clarity, and Positivity in Health Literacy brings the consolidation of knowledge, strategies, and techniques to improve health literacy. This book discusses the importance of making sound health decisions: decisions that can save lives, prevent premature deaths, avoid hospitalizations and abusive resources to medical emergencies, and improve overall health outcomes for the individual, family, community, and society. Covering topics such as dietary guidance, health behavior change models, and medication reconciliation, this resource has theoretical and practical aspects essential to health information libraries, hospitals, clinics, health centers, health schools, patient associations, health professionals, medical students, researchers, professors, and academicians.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Clear detection of dusty torus signatures in a Weak-Line Radio Galaxy: the case of PKS 0043-42

We report the clearest detection to date of dusty torus signatures in a Weak-Line Radio Galaxy (WLRG). The deep Spitzer InfraRed Spectrograph (IRS) rest-frame mid-infrared (MIR) spectrum of the WLRG PKS 0043-42 (z=0.116) shows a clear spectral turnover at wavelengths longer than ~20 micron suggestive of warm dust, as well as a 9.7 micron silicate absorption feature. In addition, the hard X-ray results, based on Chandra data, strongly support a picture in which PKS 0043-42 has a torus and accretion disc more typical of Strong-Line Radio Galaxies (SLRGs). The MIR and X-ray spectra are markedly different from those of other WLRGs at similar redshifts, and here we show that the former can be successfully fitted with clumpy torus models with parameters characteristic of Type-2 AGN tori: close to edge-on (i=74 deg) and relatively broad (torus angular width=60 deg), with an outer radius of 2 pc, hydrogen column density ~1.6x10^(23) cm^(-2), and AGN bolometric luminosity ~1.6x10^(44) erg s^(-1). The presence of a compact torus in PKS 0043-42 provides evidence that this WLRG is fuelled by cold, rather than hot, gas accretion. We suggest that WLRGs are a diverse population, and PKS 0043-42 may represent a type of radio galaxy in which the AGN activity has been recently re-triggered as a consequence of intermittent gas supply, or in which the covering factor of the Narrow-Line Region (NLR) clouds is relatively low.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures, 1 table. A comparison between the soft X-ray and [O III] morphologies of active galactic nuclei

Several studies of nearby active galactic nuclei (AGN) have shown that the soft X-ray emission presents a size and morphology that resembles that of the narrow-line region (NLR) traced by [O III]. Since the NLR is mainly constituted by gas photoionised by the AGN, it seems logical to assume that this is also the primary source of the soft X-ray emission. However, these results are based on individual sources or small samples, particularly focused on type-2 Seyfert galaxies. Very little has been said concerning other types of AGN. The purpose of this work is to compare the circumnuclear morphologies of soft X-ray and [O III] images to test whether they match in different optical classes of AGN. Our sample is composed of 27 AGN: nine type-1 Seyferts, 10 type-2 Seyferts, and eight low ionisation nuclear emission-line regions (LINERs). We find a good match in 100% of the type-2 Seyferts in our sample. This correspondence is less frequent in type-1 Seyferts (22%) and it is not seen in LINERs. The good resemblance in type-2 Seyferts constitutes an evidence for a common physical origin. We argue that the lack of correspondence in type-1 Seyferts might be due to the line of sight perpendicular to the accretion disk. Based on the morphologies of the eight LINERs in our sample, we discard a common origin for the soft X-ray and [O III] emissions in these objects. Regarding the X-ray properties, both high column density and hard X-ray luminosity are associated with matched morphologies.Comment: Accepted by MNRAS. 20 pages, 9 figure

Uncovering the host galaxy of the γ\gamma-ray-emitting narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy FBQS J1644+2619

The discovery of γ\gamma-ray emission from radio-loud narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLSy1) galaxies has questioned the need for large black hole masses (> 108^8 M⊙_{\odot}) to launch relativistic jets. We present near-infrared data of the γ\gamma-ray-emitting NLSy1 FBQS J1644+2619 that were collected using the camera CIRCE (Canarias InfraRed Camera Experiment) at the 10.4-m Gran Telescopio Canarias to investigate the structural properties of its host galaxy and to infer the black hole mass. The 2D surface brightness profile is modelled by the combination of a nuclear and a bulge component with a S\'ersic profile with index nn = 3.7, indicative of an elliptical galaxy. The structural parameters of the host are consistent with the correlations of effective radius and surface brightness against absolute magnitude measured for elliptical galaxies. From the bulge luminosity, we estimated a black hole mass of (2.1±\pm0.2) ×\times108^8 M⊙_{\odot}, consistent with the values characterizing radio-loud active galactic nuclei.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, 1 table. A descriptive study was developed to monitor air fungal contamination in ten food units from hospitals. Fifty air samples of 250 litres were collected through impaction method. Samples were collected in food storage facilities, kitchen, food plating, canteen and also, outside premises, since this is the place regarded as reference. Simultaneously, environmental parameters were also monitored, including temperature and relative humidity through the equipment Babouc, LSI Sistems and according to the International Standard ISO 7726
