    Get PDF
Exact solutions for the velocity and induced magnetic field distributions, accounting for Hall currents have been obtained for the flow of a conducting porous walls under the action of a constant pressure gradient and in the presence of a uniform magnetic field transversely applied to the flow. Further, the channel is rotated with constant angular velocity about an axis perpendicular to the walls. For the purpose of mathematical simplicity, the magnetic prandtl number is assumed to be negligible. An expression for the boundary layer thickness dependent on Taylor, Hartmann, suction Reynolds numbers and Hall parameter has been obtained

The purpose of this study is to; 1) to analyze the performance of Kelurahan Gedawang; 2) to know the inhibiting factors of organization performance of Gedawang Urban Village; and 3) to know the supporting factor of organizational performance of Kelurahan Gedawang Kota Semarang. This research uses qualitative approach with in-depth interview method. The theory used to describe the performance of the Kelurahan Gedawang organization is from Bernardin, which divides the performance based on 6 (six) criteria, namely; Quality, Quantity, Timeliness, Cost-effectiveness, Need for supervision, and Interpersonal impact. While narasumner used as many as 5 (five) people, namely Head of Kelurahan Gedawang; Secretary of Kelurahan Gedawang; Head of Public Service Section of Kelurahan Gedawang; Head of Community Welfare Section of Kelurahan Gedawang; and Head of Community Empowerment and Development Section of Kelurahan Gedawang. The finding of this research is that in doing service to society, can be seen from 6 (six) dimension of performance used by measure. From the quality dimension, the performance of the apparatus has not met the target. The quantity dimension shows that of the 43 planned activities, there are 37 activities that have been realized. The dimension of timeliness shows some of the programs already and is still ongoing, such as the making of tourist forests equipped with mushala, tennis and volleyball courts, tool warehouses, and workhouses; from the visible dimension of the lack of signage (guided explanation of the place) in Gedawang Village, making it difficult for people outside Gedawang to find the location in question. From the dimension of Need for supervision, it appears that the funds already allocated and already spent on tourism forests have turned out to be ambiguous due to the decline of Forestry Minister Regulation which prohibits that forests and zoos are managed by the government, even though they have absorbed substantial funds. From the dimensions of Interpersonal impact looks pretty good because it is able to attract private parties to help build a playground in the Village Gedawang. The existence of corporations in Semarang city that quite a lot, especially in Kelurahan Gedawang, has contributed positively to improving the performance of Kelurahan Gedawang. CSR assistance from the company proved to be very helpful in the construction of facilities and infrastructure in Gedawang Urban Village, specifically related to the protection of nature and the environment. The support also comes from the potential of Gedawang Urban Village, which still upholds mutual cooperation in doing all aspects and areas

Efficient plant regeneration is a prerequisite for a complete genetic transformation protocol in cereals. Aiming this, in the present study, we have accomplished efficient plant regeneration using mature embryos as a source material in Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench. Although immature inflorescence and immature embryos are best explant sources for in vitro culture in Sorghum, however they are available only for a limited period in a year. Mature embryos have always been ideal for in vitro studies for the reason that they can be handled easily over other explants and available throughout the year. Mature embryo explants of Sorghum bicolor genotypes viz. IS 3566, SPV 475, CSV13, CSV15, CSV112, IS 348 were cultured on MS medium for efficient callus induction and subsequent plant regeneration. The response of different combination and concentrations of plant growth regulators were compared, and factors affecting the mature embryo tissue culture response were studied in this manuscript. Significant genotypic differentiation was detected in embryogenic callus induction and plantlet regeneration. Genotype IS 3566 showed better tissue culture response than the other genotypes. Efficient embryogenic callus induction was achieved with 2mg l-1 2, 4,5- Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T) and multiple shoot induction was achieved by manipulation of 6-benzyl adenine (BAP), Thidiazuron (TDZ), and Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in the culture medium.Učinkovita regeneracija kod biljaka preduvjet je za potpun transformacijski protokol kod žitarica.

Till now there is a huge research had in the field of visual information retrieval, but with the growth of data and with less processing speed we are not meeting the needs of current problem. The main focus of this paper is to identify the objects with salient features and object highlighting. Till now object identification is done with the pixel based or with the region based. Different methodologies are compared in this work and they will be processed with the learning work. Multi scale contrast is one of the pixel based technology where object borders are identified but not the object. This can be done with the histogram contrast. Still it is not covering all the features of the object and it is not clear in identifying the objects at high contrast regions. To solve this issue region based contrasting method is used which is the better solution for all this object identification. After extracting the features and identifying the object, now auto classification or identification of the object should be done. The other part of the work mainly concentrates on the learning system which uses most popular neural network algorithms. Identifying the drawbacks of neural network algorithms and proposing the new methodology identify the objects is done in this paper

An Improved Chaotic Grey Wolf Optimization Algorithm (CGWO)

    Get PDF
Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) is a new type of swarm-based technique for dealing with realistic engineering design constraints and unconstrained problems in the field of metaheuristic research. Swarm-based techniques are a type of population-based algorithm inspired by nature that can produce low-cost, quick, and dependable solutions to a wider variety of complications. It is the best choice when it can achieve faster convergence by avoiding local optima trapping. This work incorporates chaos theory with the standard GWO to improve the algorithm's performance due to the ergodicity of chaos. The proposed methodology is referred to as Chaos-GWO (CGWO). The CGWO improves the search space's exploration and exploitation abilities while avoiding local optima trapping. Using different benchmark functions, five distinct chaotic map functions are examined, and the best chaotic map is considered to have great mobility and ergodicity characteristics. The results demonstrated that the best performance comes from using the suitable chaotic map function, and that CGWO can clearly outperform standard GWO

Results of a study of dry and wet spells at Itabaina, a semi-arid station in northeast Brazil, are presented in this paper. Frequency distributions of dry spells of different durations at the station are compared with those derived from three statistical models. It is found that the Eggenberger-Polya and the geometric model provide better results than the logarithmic model. Frequency distribution of wet spells during the three rainiest months of the year shows that rainfall persistency reaches a maximum value on the fifth day of a rainy spell

FADE SLOPE ESTIMATION USING TIME DOMAIN METHOD

    Get PDF
An analysis is made of the measured distributions of the fade slope of rain attenuation, conditional for attenuation values, measured at Eindhoven University of Technology from the satellite Olympus. It is found that the distribution is similar for positive and negative fade slopes and independent of frequency in the range from 12 to 30 GHz. A distribution model for the conditional distribution is found. The only parameter of the distribution is the standard deviation, which is found to be proportional to attenuation level and dependent on rain type, on the low-pass filter bandwidth and on the time interval used in the slope calculation. The observed relation between the standard deviation and attenuation is compared with results from other measurement sites. From this comparison it is found that the fade slope standard deviation is likely to depend on elevation angle and on climate, through its dependence on rain type

The purpose of the present investigation is to enhance production of biomedically important enzyme lipase by subjecting the indigenous lipase producing strain Rhizopus sp. BTS-24 to improvement by natural selection and random mutagenesis (UV and N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitroso guanidine, NTG). The isolation of mutants and the lipolytic activity of selected mutants were described. The best natural selectant BTNS12 showed 110% higher lipase activity than the wild strain (BTS-24). The lipase yield of the best UV mutant BTUV3 was 164% higher than the parent strain (BTNS12) and 180% times higher than the wild strain (BTS-24). Also, the lipase yield of the best NTG mutant BTNT2 was 133 % higher than the parent strain (BTUV3) and 232% higher than the wild strain (BTS-24). The results indicated that UV and NTG were effective mutagenic agents for strain improvement of Rhizopus sp. BTS-24 for enhanced lipase productivity. Key Words: Lipase, Rhizopus, UV, NTG. Exhibition of Bleaching Resistance Via Adaptive Bleaching Pattern by Coral Reefs of the Gulf of Mannar during Massive Bleaching Event 2019

    Get PDF
Coral reefs in the Gulf of Mannar (GoM) and Palk Bay regions are facing potential threats from climate change, sedimentation and anthropogenic activities. Considerably, coral reefs in these two regions are highly damaged due to frequent bleaching events caused by increased sea surface temperature (SST) recorded over the past two decades. Recently, during February to May 2019, mass bleaching event of corals was documented again in GoM and Palk Bay regions due to increased sea surface temperatures ranged between 32°C to 36°C. Despite of completely bleached corals, some coral colonies of the same bleached coral species have displayed adaptive bleaching pattern (ABP) for survival. This incidence is displayed by the symbiotic zooxanthellae to protect coral polyps from environmental stress such as elevated temperatures. These observations infer that coral colonies with preferential bleaching pattern ability would serve as environmental stress resisting coral colonies which can be used for restoration activities and cryopreservation. Further studies are needed to explain the potential mechanisms or specific environmental drivers responsible for ABP.

A Review on Edge Detection Algorithms in Digital Image Processing Applications

Edge detection is one of the major step in Image segmentation, image enhancement, image detection and recognition applications. The main goal of edge detection is that to localize the variation in the intensity of an image to identify the phenomena of physical properties which produced by the capturing device. An edge might be characterized as a set of neighborhood pixels that forms a boundary between two different regions. Detecting the edges is an essential technique for segmenting the image in to various regions based on their discontinuity in the pixels. Edge detection has very important applications in image processing and computer vison. It is broadly used technique and quick feature extraction technique hence used in various feature extraction and feature detection techniques. There exists several methods in the literature for edge detection such as Canny, Prewitt, Sobel, Maar Hildrith, Robert etc. In this paper we have studied and compared Prewitt, Sobel, and Canny detection operators. Our experimental study shows that the canny operator is giving better results for different kinds of images and has numerous advantages than the other operators such as the nature of adaptive, works better for noisy images and providing the sharp edges with low probability of false detection edges
