Background: Newborns are perhaps the most vulnerable population the world over. Preterm or babies born too early, less than 37 weeks gestation, are particularly at risk. Objective of present study were to determine the strength of relationship between PAPP-A concentrations using our own reference range and rates of idiopathic preterm delivery. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on consecutive singleton pregnancies undergoing first-trimester screening for fetal Down syndrome between 11 weeks and 14 weeks of pregnancy. Results: 500 patients in first trimester of pregnancy were selected in this study. 400 patients were found to have normal levels and were followed up till delivery. 20 patients developed preterm labour. Out of 100 patients who had low PAPP-A level, 35 patients had developed preterm labour. 15 patients out of 400 normal patients developed foetal growth retardation, 13 out of 100 low patients had foetal growth retardation. 5 out 400 normal patients developed PIH and no still birth was seen in normal patients. 15 out of 100 low patients had PIH and 2 patients had still birth. Most of the patients had asymmetrical FGR which concludes that there might be increased utero-placental resistance because of foetal growth restriction. Conclusions: In the first trimester of pregnancy, PPP-A level is an important predictor of outcome of obstetrics. A low level of PAPP-A is useful in indicating the risk of pre-term delivery and chance of PIH development

The struggles we face in contemporary times are numerous. These are also the reaction of social changes. Today's society is witnessing the struggles of life such as the turmoil of urban life, atrocities against women, the plight of migrants due to declining agricultural production, caste - based social inequalities, the use of agricultural land to set up factories, the plight of people living in economically backward margins, unemployment and the problems of labor. It is time for everyone to consider that the struggle of the peasantry is questioning the future of the world. The history of yaanaikattiporadikkum by our ancient Tamil people will show the world about the prosperity of our country. The farmers who once offered food for the whole village are forced to beg for the next meal because the monsoon is gone and the value of the products, they produce is low. Due to the shortage of paddy, the expansion of roads, the setting up of factories and the exploitation of their lands, farmers have lost their livelihood and are in danger of migrating from where they live today. Although the battlefields faced by the agrarian elites in each period are different, the struggles remained the same no matter what. This article researches on the contemporary novels which deals with the plight of peasants who lost their lives at the hands of the ruling class

S.)--School of Computing and Engineering. University of Missouri--Kansas City, 2014Social networks have become very popular in the past few years and have become a significant part of our personal and professional lives. As the number of participants in social networks has grown, they have become a virtual space for exerting influence. Studies in sociology and marketing have stressed the vital role of influence for businesses to survive; organizations and businesses are constantly seeking to establish and expand their presence by exploiting social networks. This has led to an implicit competition for higher visibility and ranking within social networks. Ideally, the ranking of participants within social networks should mirror the real world. However, this may or may not be true because of different degrees of participation, overrepresentation due to self-promotion and the possibility of unreliable or false information. This thesis addresses the following related questions. What are appropriate measures for ranking participants in social networks? Does the ranking within networks mirror those based on traditional measures for ranking organizations? We use data mining and statistical analysis to evaluate several measures, including a new measure based on the H-index, for ranking participants within social networks against established benchmarks for university programs. We find that prominence within social networks correlates in general with prominence in the real world. We identify the best measures for predicting prominence in the real world, and perform preliminary outlier analysis. While the observations are not proven to be causal, they offer insights of potential value to social network marketingAbstract -- Approval page -- List of tables -- List of illustrations - Introduction -- Related work -- Ranking of users in social networks -- Reliability of social network user ranking -- Proposed methods of social network ranking -- Composite social network ranking -- Data mining study -- Conclusion and future work -- Reference

The present research aimed at studying the effect of an educational module as an intervention programme in the management of Diabetes Mellitus among the elderly with regard to the improvement in their knowledge, attitude and practices. The sample constituted 80 elderly of whom 40 were men and 40 were women in the age group of 65 to 76 years. Structured Interview Schedule (SIS) developed by the investigators on knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) with regard to diabetes was used for assessment. The module of educational programme was developed by the investigators for the benefit of diabetic people covering different aspects in the management of the disease. A repeated measure design was followed; accordingly, the sample were administered SIS to assess their initial KAP and they were provided intervention programme for a period of two months. Later, two months after the intervention, post assessment was conducted administering the same SIS. A comparison of pre and post test scores on KAP regarding diabetes was made. The statistical significance of mean difference in the scores was carried out using ‘t’ ratios. The findings revealed that both men and women respondents and the two age groups showed higher scores after intervention, on KAP regarding diabetes, than the pre intervention scores and individual differences in the score was also reduced considerably during post test

    Get PDF
In component based software reusability development process, the software developers have to choose the best components which are self adaptive future to overcome the functional errors, framework mismatches, violation of user level privacy issues and data leakage feasibilities. The software developers can build high quality software applications by taking the consideration of the reusable components which are more suitable to provide high level data security and privacy. This paper has proposing the neural based fuzzy framework based approach to estimate the reusable components which are directly and indirectly involve the security and privacy to improve the quality of the software system. This approach has considered the twenty effecting factors and fifty three attribute matrices. It has formed with three stages of execution scenarios. The first stage has executed with eleven effecting factors and eighteen attribute matrices for identification of supporting software reusability components, the second stage has executed with four effecting factors and thirty five attribute matrices for identification of sub-internal relationships in terms of security-privacy, and the third stage has executed with eight effecting factors and six attribute matrices for identification of sub of sub-internal relationships in terms of security risk estimation. This analytical finding proposes a fuzzy logic model to evaluate the most feasible effecting factors that influence the enterprise level data security-privacy practices at real time environment
