Los nuevos medios como agentes de cambio cultural en la era digital. Un análisis hermenéutico y crítico

La digitalización de los medios ha dejado obsoleta la noción de medios de comunicación. Actualmente la producción y distribución de información, es decir, el objeto de los medios de comunicación tradicionales, ha desbordado ese ámbito para trasformarse en un problema central en muchos otros. Los medios digitales se han situado, de esta forma, en el epicentro de esa problemática, y la atención a la manera más eficaz de procesar la información se ha convertido en una de las cuestiones centrales para toda disciplina, desde la medicina, pasando por la astrofísica, hasta las humanidades y las ciencias sociales. Así, la preocupación por la gestión de la información define, en parte, lo que ha significado el siglo XX y la pequeña parte que llevamos vivida del XXI. Pero desde el punto de vista cultural, esta preocupación ha existido siempre si atendemos a aquella concepción de cultura que la entiende como la información compartida por un grupo de personas, las cuales conforman un sistema cultural concreto. De todas formas, y en consonancia con lo antes mencionado, no es, tal vez, hasta ese siglo XX cuando las instituciones sociales y culturales se configuraron en torno a las actividades de producción, distribución y gestión de la información -almacenamiento, procesamiento, tratamiento estadístico, etcétera- dando lugar a concepciones sociales como la discutida sociedad de la información, o culturales como la de cultura digital. Es, precisamente, ésta última una de las que aborda el cambio en los valores y las expectativas que el posicionamiento de la gestión de la información en el centro de la discusión cultural ha provocado. En esos cambios han tenido una tremenda importancia las tecnologías digitales y computacionales, si bien éstas responden también a inquietudes previas, es decir, no se puede entender que los cambios sean directa y únicamente causa de las tecnologías, aunque éstas sí funcionan como mediadoras culturales, respondiendo a inquietudes y provocando, a su vez, cambios culturales..

Variaciones del perfil esteroideo con diferentes tipos de ejercicio y actividad física

El ejercicio físico provoca una situación de estrés en el organismo. Como consecuencia de este estrés se produce una alternativa hormonal, tanto en la producción suprarrenal como en la producción testicular de esteroides. En la tesis se trata de observar estas variaciones, a corto plazo y a largo plazo, y de establecer unos marcadores fisiológicos urinarios para tratar de cuantificar el entrenamiento, para ello se estudiaron las orinas de un grupo universitario, no deportistas, y de un grupo de ciclistas. Finalmente decir que para la determinación de los esteroides urinarios (andrógenos, corticosteroides y estrógenos) se utilizó una técnica de GCIMS y de GC/MSIMS.Intense physical exercise is an important modifier of hormone metabolism. A Knowledge Graph Framework for Dementia Research Data

Dementia disease research encompasses diverse data modalities, including advanced imaging, deep phenotyping, and multi-omics analysis. However, integrating these disparate data sources has historically posed a significant challenge, obstructing the unification and comprehensive analysis of collected information. In recent years, knowledge graphs have emerged as a powerful tool to address such integration issues by enabling the consolidation of heterogeneous data sources into a structured, interconnected network of knowledge. In this context, we introduce DemKG, an open-source framework designed to facilitate the construction of a knowledge graph integrating dementia research data, comprising three core components: a KG-builder that integrates diverse domain ontologies and data annotations, an extensions ontology providing necessary terms tailored for dementia research, and a versatile transformation module for incorporating study data. In contrast with other current solutions, our framework provides a stable foundation by leveraging established ontologies and community standards and simplifies study data integration while delivering solid ontology design patterns, broadening its usability. Furthermore, the modular approach of its components enhances flexibility and scalability. We showcase how DemKG might aid and improve multi-modal data investigations through a series of proof-of-concept scenarios focused on relevant Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers

Structure and infrared spectra of hydrocarbon interstellar dust analogs

9 págs.; 6 figs.; 5 tabs.A theoretical study of the structure and mid infrared (IR) spectra of interstellar hydrocarbon dust analogs is presented, based on DFT calculations of amorphous solids. The basic molecular structures for these solids are taken from two competing literature models. The first model considers small aromatic units linked by aliphatic chains. The second one assumes a polyaromatic core with hydrogen and methyl substituents at the edges. The calculated spectra are in reasonably good agreement with those of aliphatic-rich and graphitic-rich samples of hydrogenated amorphous carbon (HAC) generated in our laboratory. The theoretical analysis allows the assignment of the main vibrations in the HAC spectra and shows that there is a large degree of mode mixing. The calculated spectra show a marked dependence on the density of the model solids, which evinces the strong influence of the environment on the strengths of the vibrational modes. The present results indicate that the current procedure of estimating the hydrogen and graphitic content of HAC samples through the decomposition of IR features into vibrational modes of individual functional groups is problematic owing to the mentioned mode mixing and to the difficulty of assigning reliable and unique band strengths to the various molecular vibrations. Current band strengths from the literature might overestimate polyaromatic structures. Medición de la oxigenación muscular en reposo y la relación con los saltos en contramovimiento y la composición corporal en jugadores de futbol

The measurement of resting muscle oxygenation capa city is under investigation in team sports. The aim of the current study was to observe the changes after a preseason, in muscle oxygen saturation (SmO2) at rest and the relationship with body composition and jump power in soccer players. 17 soccer players (age 21.8 ± 2.2 years) were enrolled. Body composition, somatotype, countermovement jump (CMJ) and single-leg countermovement jump (SLCMJ) were evaluated. Also, SmO2 at rest in the gastrocnemius muscle using the technique of arterial occlusion in the dominant leg and non-dominant leg was performed. All measurements were made before and after the preseason. The t-student test, Pearson’s correlation and inter-individual response of the subject’s statistic were applied to measure the magnitudes of change and the effect size. An inverse relationship was observed between SmO2 at the initial-occlusion (r= -0.82), final-occlusion (r= -0.79) and SmO2 recovery (r= -0.82) with the SLCMJ power. A moderate relationship was also observed between oxygen consumption and fat mass (r= 0.64). The measurement of SmO2 at rest can be considered as a possible performance parameter because it has determined its relationship with the ability to produce strength and jumping power in soccer playersLa medición de la capacidad de oxigenación del músculo en reposo está bajo investigación en los deportes de equipo. El objetivo del presente estudio fue observar los cambios, después de una pretemporada, en la saturación de oxígeno muscular (SmO2) en reposo y la relación con la composición corporal y la potencia de salto en los jugadores de fútbol. Participaron 17 jugadores de fútbol (edad 21.8 ± 2.2 años). Se evaluó la composición corporal, el somatotipo, el salto de contramovimiento (CMJ) y el salto de contramovimiento de una sola pierna (SLCMJ). Simultáneamente, se midió la SmO2 en reposo en el músculo gastrocnemio utilizando la técnica de oclusión arterial en la pierna dominante y no dominante. Todas las mediciones se realizaron antes y después de la pretemporada. Se aplico la prueba t-student, la correlación de Pearson y la estadística de respuesta inter-individual de los sujetos para medir las magnitudes de cambio y el tamaño del efecto. Se observó una relación inversa entre SmO2 en la oclusión inicial (r= -0.82), la oclusión final (r= -0.79) y la recuperación de SmO2 (r= -0.82) con la potencia SLCMJ. También se observó una relación moderada entre el consumo de oxígeno y la masa grasa (r=0.64). La medición de SmO2 en reposo se puede considerar como un posible parámetro de rendimiento, porque se identificó su relación con la capacidad de producir fuerza y potencia de salto en jugadores de fútboActividad Física y Deport

Plasma generation and processing of interstellar carbonaceous dust analogs

Comparison of measured and theoretically calculated spectra suggests that IS dust grains are likely made of small aromatic islands linked by aliphatic chains. Irradiation of the HAC deposits with 5 keV electrons shows that the effects of cosmic rays on the aliphatic dust component, characterized by an absorption band at 3.4 m, are small and cannot explain the disappearance of this band in dense interstellar clouds.N

Short-Term Skin Temperature Responses to Endurance Exercise: A Systematic Review of Methods and Future Challenges in the Use of Infrared Thermography.

Background: Body temperature is often assessed in the core and the skin. Infrared thermog- raphy has been used to measure skin temperature (Tsk) in sport research and clinical practice. This study aimed to explore the information reported to date on the use of infrared thermography to detect short-term Tsk responses to endurance exercise and to identify the methodological considerations and knowledge gaps, and propose future directions. Method: A web search (PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and Web of Science) was conducted following systematic review guidelines, and 45 out of 2921 studies met the inclusion criteria (endurance sports, since 2000, English, full text available). Results: A total of 45 publications were extracted, in which most of the sample were runners (n = 457, 57.9%). Several differences between IRT imaging protocols and ROI selection could lead to potential heterogeneity of interpretations. These particularities in the methodology of the studies extracted are widely discussed in this systematic review. Conclusions: More analyses should be made considering different sports, exercise stimuli and intensities, especially using follow-up designs. Study-derived data could clarify the underlying thermo physiological processes and assess whether Tsk could be used a reliable proxy to describe live thermal regulation in endurance athletes and reduce their risk of exertional heat illness/stroke. Also more in-depth analyses may elucidate the Tsk interactions with other tissues during exercise-related responses, such as inflammation, damage, or pain
