    Application of deep learning in detecting neurological disorders from magnetic resonance images: a survey on the detection of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia

    Neuroimaging, in particular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), has been playing an important role in understanding brain functionalities and its disorders during the last couple of decades. These cutting-edge MRI scans, supported by high-performance computational tools and novel ML techniques, have opened up possibilities to unprecedentedly identify neurological disorders. However, similarities in disease phenotypes make it very difficult to detect such disorders accurately from the acquired neuroimaging data. This article critically examines and compares performances of the existing deep learning (DL)-based methods to detect neurological disorders—focusing on Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and schizophrenia—from MRI data acquired using different modalities including functional and structural MRI. The comparative performance analysis of various DL architectures across different disorders and imaging modalities suggests that the Convolutional Neural Network outperforms other methods in detecting neurological disorders. Towards the end, a number of current research challenges are indicated and some possible future research directions are provided

    Genomic surveillance uncovers a pandemic clonal lineage of the wheat blast fungus

    Wheat, one of the most important food crops, is threatened by a blast disease pandemic. Here, we show that a clonal lineage of the wheat blast fungus recently spread to Asia and Africa following two independent introductions from South America. Through a combination of genome analyses and laboratory experiments, we show that the decade-old blast pandemic lineage can be controlled by the Rmg8 disease resistance gene and is sensitive to strobilurin fungicides. However, we also highlight the potential of the pandemic clone to evolve fungicide-insensitive variants and sexually recombine with African lineages. This underscores the urgent need for genomic surveillance to track and mitigate the spread of wheat blast outside of South America and to guide preemptive wheat breeding for blast resistance

    Public service is a necessity that can not be negotiated in improving the quality of service every time, every agency or organization that provides public services certainly wants to provide the best service to everyone it serves. At present public services in the village Beringin Taluk Kec. Kuantan Tengah District Kuantan Singingi has done very well but there are some obstacles in terms of public services such as the absence of a safe data storage place so that data is easily lost and damaged. There is no integration between BUMDes in the village so that information cannot be reviewed periodically. There is no integrated media of information or complaints, so people need to come directly to the village office to find information and provide complaints. Modeling an application for cloud computing-based public services has contributed to increasing the achievement of the goals of a village to get to a smart village with an integrated system and facilitate the community to access all needs in terms of information and services

    Amanah UU RI nomor 12 tahun 2012 tentang pendidikan tinggi pasal 41 ayat 1 menyebutkan bahwa sumber belajar pada lingkungan pendidikan tinggi wajib disediakan, difasilitasi, atau dimiliki oleh Perguruan Tinggi sesuai dengan Program Studi yang dikembangkan. Oleh karenanya salah satu sumber ajar yang dapat dikembangkan adalah buku ajar. Salah satu buku ajar yang layak dikembangkan di Perguruan Tinggi adalah buku ajar Statistika. Sebab, Statistika merupakan salah satu komponen penting dalam riset. Oleh karenanya penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku ajar statistika berbasis SPSS agar Universitas memiliki buku ajar mandiri. Model yang digunakan adalah Research & Development yang mengadaptasi model pengembangan Dick & Carey (2009). Data ini dikumpulkan melalui validasi pakar/ahli materi dan media sebanyak 5 orang, serta disebarkan kepada mahasiswa sebanyak 15 orang dengan menggunakan instrumen “Skala Penilaian Kelayakan Buku” Analisa data pada penelitian pengembangan buku ajar dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif (Haryati, 2012). Dari hasil validasi ahli materi, ahli media dan uji kelompok kecil diperoleh hasil dengan tingkat pencapaian 92,25% dengan kategori valid dan keputusan buku layak untuk digunakan
