A systematic comparison of roundtrip software engineering approaches applied to UML class diagram

    Get PDF
Model-based software engineering contemplates several software developments approaches in which models play an important role. One such approach is round-trip engineering. The objective of this paper is to benchmark the comparative analysis of the round-trip engineering capability of three modelling tools: Papyrus, Modelio and Visual Paradigm. The conclusions drawn throughout the paper will answer the question: How effective are current code generation tools for documenting application evolution? Throughout the discussion, we have pointed out several improvements that these UML modelling tools have recently brought to the discussion. We have also proposed some improvements that we consider desirable to improve Roundtrip Engineering approaches pointing out possible directions and solutions.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A DEVICE FORTHE DECOMMISSIONING OF THE FUEL CHANNELS IN THECANDU NUCLEAR REACTOR

As many nuclear power plants are reaching their end of lifecycle, the decommissioning of theseinstallations has become one of the 21stcentury’s great challenges. Each project may be managed differently, depending on the country, development policies, financial considerations, and the availability of qualifiedengineers or specialized companies to handle such projects. The principle objective of decommissioning is toplace a facility into such a condition that there is no unacceptable risk from the decommissioned facility topublic health and safety of the environment. In order to ensure that at the end of its life the risk from a facility iswithin acceptable bounds, action is normally required. The overall decommissioning strategy is todeliver a timely, cost-effective program while maintaining high standards of safety, security and environmentalprotection. If facilities were not decommissioned, they could degrade and potentially present an environmentalradiological hazard in the future. Simply abandoning or leaving a facility after ceasing operations is notconsidered to be an acceptable alternative to decommissioning. The final aim of decommissioning is torecover the geographic site to its original condition

An iliac-appendiceal fistula causing gastrointestinal bleeding

© 2019 The Authors Aortoenteric fistulas are an uncommon cause of gastrointestinal bleeding, and iliac-appendiceal fistulas are an even rarer cause. We describe a case of an iliac-appendiceal fistula in a patient who presented several months after aortic reconstruction with gastrointestinal bleeding. An extensive workup revealed that the source of bleeding was localized to the appendiceal orifice. The patient underwent an appendectomy with a two-stage procedure involving the iliac graft for definitive repair and ultimately recovered well. Despite the rarity of aortoenteric and iliac-appendiceal fistulas causing gastrointestinal bleeding, keeping a high index of suspicion in patients with a prior vascular repair can prevent death

Core collapse in massive scalar-tensor gravity

This paper provides an extended exploration of the inverse-chirp gravitational-wave signals from stellar collapse in massive scalar-tensor gravity reported in [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 119}, 201103]. We systematically explore the parameter space that characterizes the progenitor stars, the equation of state and the scalar-tensor theory of the core collapse events. We identify a remarkably simple and straightforward classification scheme of the resulting collapse events. For any given set of parameters, the collapse leads to one of three end states, a weakly scalarized neutron star, a strongly scalarized neutron star or a black hole, possibly formed in multiple stages. The latter two end states can lead to strong gravitational-wave signals that may be detectable in present continuous-wave searches with ground-based detectors. We identify a very sharp boundary in the parameter space that separates events with strong gravitational-wave emission from those with negligible radiation.STFC Consolidator Grant No. ST/P000673/1 GWverse COST Action Grant No. CA16104 H2020-ERC-MaGRaTh–646597 NSF-XSEDE Grant No. PHY-090003 DiRRAC through STFC capital Grants No. ST/P002307/1 and No. ST/R002452/1, and STFC operations Grant No. ST/R00689X/

Long-Lived Inverse Chirp Signals from Core-Collapse in Massive Scalar-Tensor Gravity.

This Letter considers stellar core collapse in massive scalar-tensor theories of gravity. The presence of a mass term for the scalar field allows for dramatic increases in the radiated gravitational wave signal. There are several potential smoking gun signatures of a departure from general relativity associated with this process. These signatures could show up within existing LIGO-Virgo searches

Evaluation of Left Atrial Size and Function: Relevance for Clinical Practice

    Get PDF
Left atrial (LA) structural and functional evaluation have recently emerged as powerful biomarkers for adverse events in a variety of cardiovascular conditions. Moreover, noninvasive evaluation of LA pressure has gained importance in the characterization of the hemodynamic profile of patients. This review describes the methodology, benefits and pitfalls of measuring LA size and function by echocardiography and provides a brief overview of the prognostic utility of newer echocardiographic metrics of LA geometry and function (i.e., three-dimensional volumes, longitudinal strain, and phasic function parameters)

Orchestrating a smart circular economy: Guiding principles for digital product passports

    Get PDF
In order for firms to implement the Circular Economy, and close all material and energy cycles, connections are needed not only within but also between multiple Industrial Ecosystems. To enable such complex interconnections, the European Union is preparing legislation to enforce the use of digital product passports (DPPs). These are verifiable collections of data about products’ composition, environmental footprint and opportunities for preventing waste. The notion of the DPP relies heavily on a suitable digital infrastructure, and it opens the possibility of using the power of artificial intelligence (AI), to optimize circular production within and between Industrial Ecosystems. The benefits of DPPs will only be attained if their design, knowledge engineering, and implementation is well-orchestrated. The purpose of this paper is to develop a set of guiding principles for the orchestration of DPPs, based upon a trans-disciplinary analysis, that form a theoretical basis upon which future research can build

Multiple cerebral aneurysms of middle cerebral artery: Case report

    Get PDF
Multiple cerebral aneurysms present a wide variation in incidence with averages of 13% at angiographic studies and 22.7% at autopsy. High blood pressue, cigarette smoking, stress and possible also age and female sex seem to be risk factors for multiple intracranial aneurysms (MIAn) in patients of working age who have suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Aneurysms were situated on the same side in one-third of the patients with two aneurysms and the most common site was the middle cerebral artery (MCA). To manage these challenging lesions neurosurgeons must use all available innovations and advances, including diagnostic, technical and perioperative adjuncts. The author presents a case of middle age female, with two saccular aneurysms situated on the same side (right MCA), who was operated in our clinic, 20 days after first SAH episode, I grade on Hunt/Hess scale. The angio MRI was performed before, and control DS angiography after operation. After pterional approach, the author used the magnification, microsurgical technics, temporal clip, and two permanent Yasargil curved clips. A postoperative good recovery enable the patient go to work and drive one month later
