The 3-Dimensional q-Deformed Harmonic Oscillator and Magic Numbers of Alkali Metal Clusters
Magic numbers predicted by a 3-dimensional q-deformed harmonic oscillator
with Uq(3) > SOq(3) symmetry are compared to experimental data for alkali metal
clusters, as well as to theoretical predictions of jellium models, Woods--Saxon
and wine bottle potentials, and to the classification scheme using the 3n+l
pseudo quantum number. The 3-dimensional q-deformed harmonic oscillator
correctly predicts all experimentally observed magic numbers up to 1500 (which
is the expected limit of validity for theories based on the filling of
electronic shells), thus indicating that Uq(3), which is a nonlinear extension
of the U(3) symmetry of the spherical (3-dimensional isotropic) harmonic
oscillator, is a good candidate for being the symmetry of systems of alkali
metal clusters.Comment: 13 pages, LaTe
Measurement of the B0-anti-B0-Oscillation Frequency with Inclusive Dilepton Events
The - oscillation frequency has been measured with a sample of
23 million \B\bar B pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II
asymmetric B Factory at SLAC. In this sample, we select events in which both B
mesons decay semileptonically and use the charge of the leptons to identify the
flavor of each B meson. A simultaneous fit to the decay time difference
distributions for opposite- and same-sign dilepton events gives ps.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figure, submitted to Physical Review Letter
A Search for the Electric Dipole Moment of the Tau-Lepton
Using the ARGUS detector at the e+e- storage ring DORIS II, we have searched
for the real and imaginary part of the electric dipole formfactor d_tau of the
tau lepton in the production of tau pairs at q^2=100 GeV^2. This is the first
direct measurement of this CP violating formfactor. We applied the method of
optimised observables which takes into account all available information on the
observed tau decay products. No evidence for CP violation was found, and we
derive the following results: Re(d_tau)=(1.6+-.9)*10^(-16) ecm and
Im(d_tau)=(-0.2+-0.8)*10^(-16) ecm, where statistical and systematic errors
have been combined.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures (10 subfigures

The SARAO MeerKAT 1.3Â GHz Galactic Plane Survey
We present the SARAO MeerKAT Galactic Plane Survey (SMGPS), a 1.3 GHz continuum survey of almost half of the Galactic Plane (251â â€l †358â and 2â â€l †61â at |b| †1
5). SMGPS is the largest, most sensitive and highest angular resolution 1 GHz survey of the Plane yet carried out, with an angular resolution of 8âł and a broadband RMS sensitivity of âŒ10â20 ÎŒJy beamâ1. Here we describe the first publicly available data release from SMGPS which comprises data cubes of frequency-resolved images over 908â1656 MHz, power law fits to the images, and broadband zeroth moment integrated intensity images. A thorough assessment of the data quality and guidance for future usage of the data products are given. Finally, we discuss the tremendous potential of SMGPS by showcasing highlights of the Galactic and extragalactic science that it permits. These highlights include the discovery of a new population of non-thermal radio filaments; identification of new candidate supernova remnants, pulsar wind nebulae and planetary nebulae; improved radio/mid-IR classification of rare Luminous Blue Variables and discovery of associated extended radio nebulae; new radio stars identified by Bayesian cross-matching techniques; the realisation that many of the largest radio-quiet WISE H II region candidates are not true H II regions; and a large sample of previously undiscovered background H I galaxies in the Zone of Avoidance
Multi-ancestry GWAS of the electrocardiographic PR interval identifies 202 loci underlying cardiac conduction
The electrocardiographic PR interval reflects atrioventricular conduction, and is associated with conduction abnormalities, pacemaker implantation, atrial fibrillation (AF), and cardiovascular mortality. Here we report a multi-ancestry (N = 293,051) genome-wide association meta-analysis for the PR interval, discovering 202 loci of which 141 have not previously been reported. Variants at identified loci increase the percentage of heritability explained, from 33.5% to 62.6%. We observe enrichment for cardiac muscle developmental/contractile and cytoskeletal genes, highlighting key regulation processes for atrioventricular conduction. Additionally, 8 loci not previously reported harbor genes underlying inherited arrhythmic syndromes and/or cardiomyopathies suggesting a role for these genes in cardiovascular pathology in the general population. We show that polygenic predisposition to PR interval duration is an endophenotype for cardiovascular disease, including distal conduction disease, AF, and atrioventricular pre-excitation. These findings advance our understanding of the polygenic basis of cardiac conduction, and the genetic relationship between PR interval duration and cardiovascular disease
