Drinfeld twist and symmetric Bethe vectors of the open XYZ chain with non-diagonal boundary terms

With the help of the Drinfeld twist or factorizing F-matrix for the eight-vertex solid-on-solid (SOS) model, we find that in the F-basis provided by the twist the two sets of pseudo-particle creation operators simultaneously take completely symmetric and polarization free form. This allows us to obtain the explicit and completely symmetric expressions of the two sets of Bethe states of the model.Comment: Latex file, 25 page

Single-cell analysis of peptide expression and electrophysiology of right parietal neurons involved in male copulation behavior of a simultaneous hermaphrodite

Male copulation is a complex behavior that requires coordinated communication between the nervous system and the peripheral reproductive organs involved in mating. In hermaphroditic animals, such as the freshwater snail Lymnaea stagnalis, this complexity increases since the animal can behave both as male and female. The performance of the sexual role as a male is coordinated via a neuronal communication regulated by many peptidergic neurons, clustered in the cerebral and pedal ganglia and dispersed in the pleural and parietal ganglia. By combining single-cell matrix-assisted laser mass spectrometry with retrograde staining and electrophysiology, we analyzed neuropeptide expression of single neurons of the right parietal ganglion and their axonal projections into the penial nerve. Based on the neuropeptide profile of these neurons, we were able to reconstruct a chemical map of the right parietal ganglion revealing a striking correlation with the earlier electrophysiological and neuroanatomical studies. Neurons can be divided into two main groups: (i) neurons that express heptapeptides and (ii) neurons that do not. The neuronal projection of the different neurons into the penial nerve reveals a pattern where (spontaneous) activity is related to branching pattern. This heterogeneity in both neurochemical anatomy and branching pattern of the parietal neurons reflects the complexity of the peptidergic neurotransmission involved in the regulation of male mating behavior in this simultaneous hermaphrodite

THROMBASTHENIE DE GLANZMANN ET GROSSESSE : A PROPOS D’UN CAS COMPLIQUE D’HEMORRAGIE DE LA DELIVRANCE

Glanzmann's thrombasthenia is a rare hereditary, having autosomal recessive transmission, due to a deficiency of platelet membrane glycoprotein GPIIbIIIa, which is responsible for a decrease in platelet aggregation. It is the source of bleeding more or less important, appearing in childhood. Its association with pregnancy is rare, and may be complicated by bleeding. Mrs F.Z, a 23 years old primigravida, reaching Glanzmann’s thrombastenia since its infancy and has a postpartum hemorrhage that could be treated medically. We tried, through this case and a review of the literature, to review the management of this rare association, which may involve the prognosis of the mother.

The urinary incontinence is defined as the occurrence of involuntary urine leakage responsible for social or hygienic problem. The prevalence of symptoms of urinary incontinence increases during pregnancy and decreases spontaneously in the first three months in the postpartum. Several risk factors can be incriminated, some related to pregnancy and childbirth and others are constitutional.

This study was carried out in a nursery to evaluate the impact of mycorrhizal fungi on the cutting's root growth, and root colonization of a Moroccan olive variety ‘Picholine Marocaine' under greenhouse conditions during 2 years of cultivation. The results revealed that the inoculation with a composite inoculum of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) stimulated an early root formation and high development of vegetative shoots in inoculated cuttings respectively, 35 days (50 days in the control plots) and 40 days (60 days in the control plots) after their culture. The progressive establishment of mycorrhizal symbiosis in the roots of the inoculated plants showed that the root and vegetative masses were respectively 24 g and 19.5 g two years after inoculation. The average height and the leave's number of the inoculated plants relative to the control were respectively s 42/ 12 cm and 145/12. The newly formed roots were mycorrhizal and present different structures characteristic of AMF: arbuscules, vesicles, hyphae and spores, whose frequency and intensity reached 90% and 75% two years after cuttings cultivation. The arbuscular and vesicular contents and the number of spores were 67%, 96% and 212 spores/ 100 g of soil respectively. The fourteen species of mycorrhizal fungi isolated from the rhizosphere belong to 4 genera (Glomus, Acaulospora, Gigaspora, and Scutellospora) and three families (Glomaceae, Acaulosporaceae and Gigasporacea). The Glomus genus was the most dominant (65%) followed by the Gigaspora genus (22%). Glomus intraradices, Gigaspora sp.2, Glomus versiformes are the most abundant species, their frequency of occurrence are respectively 30%, 21% and 16%

Abstract The inhibitive action of some pyrazole derivatives, namely N1, N1-bis (2-(bis ((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl) methyl) amino)ethyl)-N2, N2-bis ((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl) methyl) ethane-1,2-diamine: PAP and diethyl 1,1'-(((4-acetylphenyl) azanediyl) bis (methylene)) bis (5-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate): PAC against the corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl solution has been investigated using weight loss measurements, Tafel polarisation and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The experimental results obtained revealed that these compounds inhibited the steel corrosion in acid solution, the protection efficiency increased with increasing inhibitors concentration. The results obtained from the different corrosion evaluation techniques are in good agreement. Potentiodynamic polarisation studies clearly showed that PAP and PAC acted as mixed inhibitors affecting both cathodic and anodic corrosion currents. Adsorption of these inhibitors on steel surface obeyed to Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Thermodynamic data of adsorption showed that inhibition of steel corrosion in 1M HCl solution by pyrazole compounds is due to the formation of a chemisorbed film on the steel surface. SEM and EDX supported the adsorption conclusions

A note on the IR limit of the NLIEs of boundary supersymmetric sine-Gordon model

We consider the infrared (IR) limit of the nonlinear integral equations (NLIEs) for the boundary supersymmetric sine-Gordon (BSSG) model, previously obtained from the NLIEs for the inhomogeneous open spin-1 XXZ quantum spin chain with general integrable boundary terms, for values of the boundary parameters which satisfy a certain constraint. In particular, we compute the boundary S matrix and determine the "lattice - IR" relation for the BSSG parameters.Comment: 18 page

Mechanisms and therapeutic applications of electromagnetic therapy in Parkinson's disease

    Get PDF
© 2015 Vadalà et al. Electromagnetic therapy is a non-invasive and safe approach for the management of several pathological conditions including neurodegenerative diseases. Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative pathology caused by abnormal degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the ventral tegmental area and substantia nigra pars compacta in the midbrain resulting in damage to the basal ganglia. Electromagnetic therapy has been extensively used in the clinical setting in the form of transcranial magnetic stimulation, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, high-frequency transcranial magnetic stimulation and pulsed electromagnetic field therapy which can also be used in the domestic setting. In this review, we discuss the mechanisms and therapeutic applications of electromagnetic therapy to alleviate motor and non-motor deficits that characterize Parkinson's disease

    Institutional investors and corporate governance

We provide a comprehensive overview of the role of institutional investors in corporate governance with three main components. First, we establish new stylized facts documenting the evolution and importance of institutional ownership. Second, we provide a detailed characterization of key aspects of the legal and regulatory setting within which institutional investors govern portfolio firms. Third, we synthesize the evolving response of the recent theoretical and empirical academic literature in finance to the emergence of institutional investors in corporate governance. We highlight how the defining aspect of institutional investors – the fact that they are financial intermediaries – differentiates them in their governance role from standard principal blockholders. Further, not all institutional investors are identical, and we pay close attention to heterogeneity amongst institutional investors as blockholders
