    Estimates of Genetic and Phenotypic Trends of Growth Traits in Bali Cattle

    The aim of this study was to estimate genetic and phenotypic trends for growth traits including birth (BW), weaning (WW) and yearling weight (YW) in Bali cattle. The number of cattle used to determine growth traits of BW, WW, and YW were 235, 215, and 178 heads, respectively. Estimation of breeding value, phenotypic and genetic correlation were calculated by Restricted Maximum Likelihood and General Linier Model (GLM) procedures, respectively. Genetic trends analysis was performed using the regression mean breeding values on birth year. Phenotypic and genetic correlation among BW and WW were 0.10 and 0.08 respectively and 0.90 and 0.70 for WW and YW respectively. The phenotypic trends for traits of birth and weaning weight were constant, whereas yearling weight was fluctuating from 2000 to 2008. Likewise, in the case of genetic trends, the birth and weaning weight were constant from 2000 to 2008 except for WW in 2005, whereas the genetic trends for yearling weight showed a fluctuation of wide range. According to the breeding value estimated for all traits, the best was the sire No. 0565, whose breeding value for BW, WW and YW were +0.07, +2.79, and +10.25 kg, respectively higher than the mean value of the population. The genetic trends showed that there have been a significant and positive genetic improvement in all growth traits and indicate that selection would be effective. Genetic correlation between WW and YW was high (0.70) which indicates that the selection on weaning weight might also increase yearling weight in Bali cattle

    Association of Calpastatin (CAST) Gene with Growth Traits and Carcass Characteristics in Bali Cattle

    Calpastatin (CAST) gene is well known as an inhibitor of muscle protein degradation and relates to muscle growth and meat tenderness. The objective of this study was to determine the association of CAST gene with growth traits and carcass characteristics in Bali cattle. A number of data from 35 Bali bulls were collected from BPTU Bali Cattle to obtain growth traits, carcass characteristics, and blood samples. Polymorphism of CAST gene in Bali bulls was analyzed by using PCR-RFLP and DNA sequencing. The association of CAST gene with growth traits and carcass characteristics were analyzed by using General Linear Model (GLM). The result showed that there were two genotypes (GG and AG) of CAST gene with allele frequencies of 0.857 and 0.143, respectively, for G and A. Notably, mutation A to G occurred in 253 bp CAST fragment gene in Bali Cattle. Genotypes GG and AG of CAST gene significantly affected (P<0.05) the back-fat thickness and longissimus dorsi without a significant effect on the growth traits. It could be concluded that CAST gene had a potency as a marker gene for carcass quality in Bali cattle

    Good and efficient Air cargo handling, especially for dangerous goods transportation need to be supported by licensed dangerous goods handling personnel and supported by the transport handling facilities as well as standard procedure. Comprehensive standards and procedures are required to reduce the risk of accidents caused by an error in the handling of the dangerous goods transportation. Main problems in this study: first, to analyse the process of air cargo transportation handling at the Adisutjipto Airport; second, to analyse the standard of the dangerous goods handling personel. The cargo handling process consists of Outgoing (Acceptance, weighing, Documentation, Marking & labeling, X-ray, Storage, Build-up, and Loading) and Incoming (Check Incoming Massage, Unloading, Breakdown, check lists, Physical Examination, Storage, Notice of Arrival, Delivered).     The airport as flight network node is the starting point and the end of the movement of people/goods. The airport can also be a transit point before continuing the journey to the destination. The closure of the airport due to force majeure such as a disaster or terrorism may disrupt the national air transportation network. The effects of the closure of an airport to the national air transportation network depends on the level of connectivity of the airport. This study aimed to quantify the connectivity between two airports in the national air transportation network. Based on the connectivity data, it can be determined that appropriate mitigation strategies during an airport closure due to force majeure

    Historical writing is often regarded as an unpleasant activity for students. In fact, historiography means historical writing. Historical writing can mean a lot. Starting from the simplest, students can be taught to write their history, then expand to the history of their place of residence, and so on. The research method is case study to the final student in History Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka, Jakarta, Indonesia. The objective of the research is to familiarize the students as teacher candidates in writing history so that, when they interact with students in school, they are able to familiarize students to write history and record their own history in a simple way. Historical writing can be done by anyone, remember the jargon of the first President of Indonesia, Soekarno, "Never forget history" because by knowing the history of self and nation then the character of students can be built more easily

    Pembangunan infrastruktur dan bangunan merupakan salah satu sektor yang memiliki peran penting dalam pertumbuhan ekonomi. Namun, sektor ini juga memiliki dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan, seperti emisi gas rumah kaca, konsumsi sumber daya alam, dan limbah. Material konstruksi merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi dampak lingkungan dari pembangunan infrastruktur dan bangunan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan tinjauan komprehensif tentang material konstruksi berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah studi literatur yang diperoleh dari Google Schoolar. Data yang telah terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan tiga tahapan yakni reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa material konstruksi berkelanjutan memiliki berbagai keunggulan, antara lain mengurangi dampak lingkungan, meningkatkan efisiensi energi, dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup. Material konstruksi berkelanjutan dapat diaplikasikan pada berbagai jenis bangunan, antara lain bangunan gedung, infrastruktur dan konstruksi sipil. Hypno-birthing merupakan metode yang telah dibuktikan efektif untuk mengatasi nyeri, mengurangi kebutuhan penggunaan anestesi dan mengurangi rasa cemas, takut dan nyeri yang berhubungan dengan proses persalinan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh self hypnosis (Hypno-birthing®) terhadap rasa cemas dan nyeri antenatal. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah ibu hamil di desa Sumber Porong wilayah kerja Puskesmas Lawang. Sampel diambil 30 ibu hamil primigravida. Penelitian ini dianalisa dengan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon. Rasa cemas dan nyeri antenatal pada responden diukur dengan menggunakan Skala Distress dan VAS. Reseponden diberi pendidikan kesehatan dan latihan melakukan self hypnosis setelah melakukan pre test. Post-test menggunakan instrumen yang sama dengan saat pre-test. Hasil analisis ditemukan perbedaan yang bermakna tentang rasa cemas dan nyeri pada responden sebelum dan sesudah pemberian pelatihan hypnosis (p=0,0005, d”0,05) artinya ada penurunan kecemasan dan rasa nyeri pada ibu antenatal setelah dilakukan pelatihan hypnosis. Derekomendasikan self hypnosis kepada petugas kesehatan di masyarakat dan klinik KIA untuk meningkatkan Kenyamanan pada ibu hamil sehingga siap dalam menghadapi persalinan.Kata kunci: hipnosis, rasa cemas dan nyeri, antenatal ABSTRACTChildbirth is a stressful event for most mothers maternity which can increase the sense of pain, fear and anxiety. Hypno-birthing is a method that has proven effective for pain, reducing the need for the use of anesthesia and reduces anxiety, fear and pain associated with childbirth. This study aims to determine the effect of self hypnosis (Hypno-birthing ®) of antenatal anxiety and pain. The population in this study were pregnant women in the village of Porong Sources Lawang Health Center working area. Samples were taken 30 pregnant primigravidae. This study analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Antenatal anxiety and pain among respondents was measured using the Distress Scale and the VAS. Reseponden given health education and training to do self hypnosis after a pre-test. Post-test using the same instrument as the pre-test. The results of the analysis found significant differences on anxiety and pain in the respondents before and after hypnosis training (p = 0.0005, d”ƒÑ 0.05) or Ho means working hypothesis is accepted, meaning there is a decrease anxiety and pain in antenatal mothers after hypnosis training done.     Optimization of Reaction Conditions in the Production of Gadolinium Diethylenetriamine Pentaacetate-Folate

    A previous study has performed the laboratory-scale synthesis and characterization of Gadolinium Diethylenetriaminepentaacetate-Folate. Some parameters associated with the synthesis have been defined. In current study was focused on establishment the parameters for scaling up the production of Gadolinium Diethylenetriaminepentaacetate-Folate as a targeted MRI contrast agent. For the purpose of subsequent scaling up the synthesis, the parameters particularly those determining the yield of the reaction product should be established. This report presents the use of The Placket Burman Design and the Response Surface Methodology in establishing the parameters. Thus, following the Placket Burman Design, a number of synthesis reactions were carried out, each with different reaction conditions, with respect to parameters to include: mole ratio of reactants (i.e mole of Gd3+ to DTPA-Folate), time of reaction, temperature, stirring rate, pH and solvent volume. Using this method, a conclusion could be drawn that the three factors were found to be significant. To get final conclusions on the optimal synthesis reaction conditions, the Response Surface Methodology was then applied. For this purpose, again, some synthesis reactions experiments were performed. These were done, in accordance to the Response Surface Methodology, verified by analysis of countour plots, helped to locate the optimal value of the factors. The resulted data showed that for optimal yield of the synthesis reaction there were three dominant parameters. They were mole ratio of reactants, stirring rate process, and the volume of water
